Sox looking at building in South Loop
"White Sox are engaged in “serious” talks to build a new ballpark in the South Loop on the site known as “The 78.”" Seems to be some confusion as to whether this is site "78" or 2078. How the hell old will JR be if it is 2078.............................................

Cease To Padres per Passan
My concern is that the 2024 White Sox so far are probably worst than the 2023 version. Cease could be an elite pitcher next year but he also could have problems if he is constantly struggling to have the Sox score runs or give up additional runs because the Sox play poor defense. Hopefully, if the Sox decide to ride Cease out, he doesn't struggle with a really poor team behind him

Cease To Padres per Passan
Not for Mayer, their top prospect, unless Cease is signing a long term contract w Boston. I could see Duran, Boston's 3rd pick Rafaela and a another pick for Cease.

Haber out / Wong in as Assistant GM
Seems like just right since Getz has yet to find a LH for the OF.

Cease To Padres per Passan
A guy can be motivated to be a Cy Young candidate but there is other factors involved. Some players are solid year to year and others have periods of good and bad periods. Some guys have physical issues which can result in a bad season or even a few months. My point is if the Sox don't get a deal that works, they may have to wait until next July and see if Cease is hopefully a must have starter for a rotation as opposed to a struggling starter.

Cease To Padres per Passan
One thing that I haven't seen much talk about is how will Cease react if traded this winter or not traded. Most of us assume a deal will happen and trade will have a new home. But what happens if the Sox don't get a deal for him and Cease returns to the White Sox . Will Cease be upset if he is not traded and return w a vengeance heading into July trading deadline or will he struggle next season since he could be disappointed he did not get dealt this winter

The OF Thread
I think the Red Sox will offer Rafaela as their prime prospect and not Anthony.

The OF Thread
The Sox need a starting rightfielder. Kiermaier is 33 and he no longer even produces 10+ HR per year. Outstanding OF defensively but the Sox need an OF who can produce punch in the lineup.

Sale traded to Braves for Grissom
If Orioles decide to pass, Yankees are definitely in but I don't think Red Sox are. Red Sox are not trading Mayer and I think Anthony may also be off-limits. Rafaela may not be good enough to be Red Sox lead trade target and best SP target may be a top 10 in their system. My guess is Yankees may have some more attractive targets.

Giolito to the Red Sox, 2 years $38.5 million, Y1 opt out
Red Sox do have money and Yankees and Red Sox both seemed to want Gio. So it looks like Gio got some extra bucks thrown in for him to go w Boston. .

White Sox, Getz have more work to do before spring training opens
"Getz definitely is organized. For the first time the WhiteSox have an organization philosophy. He also got all the department heads together and outlined their job description, responsibilities, goals and how best to reach them. I was told people were "blown away." No one had ever done anything like that before. It's not going to happen overnight but Getz is turning this organization around. " Sounds like you got lost. You are posting on my response to Harold. I said it sounds good on paper but Getz has not accomplished anything for real. Until Getz turns his plans into actions and we see results, his plans don't mean anything.

White Sox, Getz have more work to do before spring training opens
It always sounds good on paper. We should not make any decisions though until we see it in person. We are quickly approaching the end of 2023 and soon the trucks will be gassed and ready for Arizona. We will soon start to see how the organization is moving forward or backwards.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Many fans are all excited about the "prospects" the White Sox will get if we trade Cease. Then I think about trading Chris Sale and we got Moncada and Kopech. I thought we got the best of this trade with Sales' health issues. Maybe we did get the better of the deal but Moncada / Kopech were a real mediocre return so far. The same Moncada who was a top 3 prospect Then I think about Mookie Betts. Red Sox had to trade him and they received a package built around Verdugo. Betts is a stud and Vedugo is already heading off to another team. We will move Cease and we will get a bounce of "prospects". Lets hope this bunch turns out to be studs. But too often they are prospects who look great in the minors but never really turn into studs in Chicago.

Eloy Trade Rumor Thread
Besides an injury waiting to happen when he plays the OF. he is just average as a DH.

A Tale of Two Cities . . . MLB Expansion.
Now a days Toronto is the " sports city" in Canada, not Montreal. Last year there was a push to split games with Tampa and Montreal because of weather. Tampa, new stadium or not, will draw for a few years and then it will be right back to 15,000 or less. Imagine attendance if the Rays ever have a lousy team?

Eloy Trade Rumor Thread
Good point but Eloy struggles to be in the lineup on a consistent basis.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I think the White Sox will not sign Yamamoto so we might as well move on................................

Cease To Padres per Passan
In any deal. I want a quality SP in first or 2nd pick. I like Teel as a 2nd but then I want a pitcher as the headliner. Having said that, not sure Boston has a SP headliner.

Glasnow traded to Dodgers
I would love to kind a Red Sox match, but I think the Red Sox may have more Class A guys than AAA guys. Red Sox may have a LF/RF after a few of their moves but a SP may not be a good match.
-
Max Stassi Acquired
My guess is if Cease is traded we should get a legit bat and a legit SP but after that my guess is a Class A prospect.

Cease To Padres per Passan
The White Sox also need pitching especially if Cease gets moved.

Cameron Maybin: Yankees facial hair rule deters free agents
It happens with the Yankees but it can also be a rule in other companiesas well. I think it is dumb but the owner can make "some rules" and if a player doesn't like it he can go elsewhere. Obviously a ton of very talented -players have followed the rule in order to play for the Yankees.

What are the Sox trying to do here, really?
The manager is one piece but not a big one. There are a bunch of holes and Grifol is not the person filling the holes. Many of us hopes Grifol leaves but the manager is not going to turn us from a loser to a winner. Maybe Grifol affects the team by 5-7 wins in either direction.

Braves acquire Jarred Kelenic
That probably negates Morosi 's take of trading Mariner pitching for Robert since they just traded 2 pitches to Atlanta. Looks like he didn't read yesterday's paper or it was an older article.
-
Morosi: Wouldn’t be surprised if Robert is traded
Except a stud CF has a much more attractive feel than a stud pitcher. If fans are choosing home games based on who is playing, the CF is the obvious way to go. I hope both Cease and Robert survive but it appears Cease is needed to bring in new blood
