2022 Offseason Plan Thread
I think if the Sox find Vaughn's best position and play him there on a regular basis, I agree with your assessment. But unfortunately, next year may be worse playing musical positions w him. Maybe the juggling doesn't affect him but many young hitters struggle w lack of consistency. I hope the FO decides on IB and start cutting Abreu's games there by moving him to DH. Might help Andrew feel more comfortable and save some mileage on Jose.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
Just look at the playoffs. How many starting pitchers were not available or were limited. So if Rodon is gone, the Sox absolutely need a middle of the rotation guy. Now maybe it is Kopech or Lopez but both are questionable commodities especially with Keuchel also a question mark.

2022 Offseason Plan Thread
He is major league ready to be on a roster offensively but unfortunately he really is not defensively. Now if he is destined to be a career DH that works. Otherwise he needs to play a regular position, good or bad , until he improves . Maybe that is LF or IB. But I don't think he is a cornerstone player if he is only a DH. More like another piece

Conforto rejects QO, enters free agency
Agree but combine them together in LF and RF and Robert will want a raise.

Conforto rejects QO, enters free agency
Yoan had a good year w the bat but you need to add an asterisk to that. Grandal only played 90 games which is about 3/4 of a season. That is coming off a short season in 2020. Yoan has traditionally been a guy who struggles 2nd half of seasons probably because he averages 125ish games . So hopefully the lesson is the Sox need to rest him on a regular basis so he doesn't break down late. That doesn't mean playing him at 1B or DH because he pretty much struggles offensively in other positions, which is weird.

Conforto rejects QO, enters free agency
I do think they need an ace especially for the regular season. But as we saw with Hou/Bos/TB, none of them really had an ace for the playoffs. Greinke was limited ,so for WS series McCullers was (before he went down), Eovaldi was, by default, more an ace than a returning Sale and TB never had an actual ace.

Sox expected to retain all of MLB staff
- RF vs 2B - Where to Invest?
It should be a wild FA period. There are a good number of quality guys available which will open holes that will need to be replaced.- RF vs 2B - Where to Invest?
It is but according to their FO, Rockies have big money to spend in 22 . Hopefully money is not what moves Conforto the most.- RF vs 2B - Where to Invest?
Hopefully no one else has him their #1. I see some Colorado rumors but probably too early for real rumors- RF vs 2B - Where to Invest?
After watching these playoffs, bullpen is also a high priority but does not necessarily require a huge investment. Maybe trade Kimbrel to a team that needs a closer for a couple of bullpen arms.- Offseason Thread
Probably was. But that happens quite often when you think you have a shot at a World Series and end up trading at the deadline.- Offseason Thread
As I posted in a separate thread, looking at the bullpens in ALCS and WS, Hahn made the right move. But Kimbrel's woes resulted in a bad result of a good move.- Offseason Thread
It is not spending. The Sox spent a ton on Kimbrel. My point is that we keep hearing about 2B and RF and they need to be addressed. But so far this postseason, the bullpens are really determining the outcomes. The starters are not playing a major role. Maybe our top priority should be the bullpen before 2B and RF. We talked a lot on this board of what we thought was the ability of our pen going in to this season. Unfortunately our pen was not a factor in the playoffs based on the Astros . Hopefully next year we have the right pieces in our pen.- Offseason Thread
We have to fill 2B and RF. But watching this year's WS and even the ALCS,, the bullpen staff is really key. Braves / Astros have use 12-11-10-11 pitchers in the games played. Last 2 games have been 3-2 and 2-0 using the 12 and 11. Now the lack of DH does have a minimal effect. In Boston/Houston, 12-10-10-10-16. Some of the games may be inflated w some blowouts. But it is safe to say, a team this year will use at least 5 pitchers per game while still playing back to back games which limits some pitchers in the pen. Although it backfired w Kimbrel, maybe Hahn had the right idea at the trade deadline. Also don't forget defense when we add at 2B and RF- Marcus Semien
Since Semien had an excellent year at the plate while playing 2B, do we think Semien will agree on 2B for his next destination or is playing SS his priority. With the SS candidates potentially relocating this offseason, teams may look at MS as an alternative if they lose their SS.- Offseason Thread
I do think there is another problem. If the Sox keep Kimbrel with the thought he is movable, what role does he serve in the interim? If he continues as a set-up man and fails, he is not move-able for $14. If he closes and rediscovers the magic then do you move Hendricks? Does having both again affect Hendricks as a closer? Not sure it is as easy as we keep him and he is movable with no affect on Hendricks. Relief pitchers are quirky guys whose performance can be very roller-coaster like. I think Hahn has a tough decision financially and possibly chemistry wise as well- Offseason Thread
I think he can be a special hitter. But I think he will be injury prone. Now making him a DH will help but he is a big guy like Aaron Judge. He has had nagging injuries limiting his games played for NY. .- Guardians getting sued for the name
If they change it, those jerseys increase in value down the road- Offseason Thread
Not sure that is true. Not getting a RF and adding Kimbrel sound like FO decisions and not TLR moves. Cesar Hernandez was a move that didn't work out ( so far) regardless of whose input was used. Tony made blunders but he also brought an injury filled roster through the season petty well.- Padres interview Ozzie for MGR job
I do also. I end up seeing a lot of Alex Cora and Kevin Cash and I think both guys have an impact on their teams.- Could Sox have beat Red Sox and Braves?
Of course they did but so did Boston's Rodriguez(s) and Robles.- Could Sox have beat Red Sox and Braves?
But in the end, Garcia and Valdez stopped the Red Sox raking.- So What Do The Dodgers Do This Off Season To Get To Be As Good As The Braves?
Agree. Philly was at least over .500 but the AL Central did not have any team as bad as the bottom of the NL East - RF vs 2B - Where to Invest?
