2020 RF options
We probably all agree especially since he only has played there one season. But this goes back to my posting yesterday on TA as a SS. Like TA, Yoan is rated as one of the worst 3B in Dwar. I think only Kris Bryant is worse.

2020 RF options
JD Martinez has played 39% of his time this season in LF/RF. You would need the 4th OF to be good defensively since JD is below average but it really adds a quality bat at DH as well. Not sure Hahn will pay him what he will want but ooking at the current rebuild lineup , we may not be able to afford another poor defender. The SP staff may go on strike.

Tim Anderson's WAR
By getting to balls that most players don't, it also exposes him to getting more throwing errors as well. I wonder what all the increased shifting has done for defensive metrics. It certainly affects range factor and it also opens up players( mostly SS) to having to make more plays from different angles.

Tim Anderson's WAR
But I wasn't referring to his overall ability to play SS as his regression based on WAR. I was trying to understand how TA as a rookie was vastly superior in dawar to his play this season. I see where he has 10 more errors but he has improved his range factor this year. What other defensive stats other than errors has he dropped in from rookie year to present. Using WAR, it would indicate TA has not improved in his 4 years. His offense has jumped way up but has completely been offset by his decline in defense. As a casual fan, I don't agree but there must be metrics I am missing.

Tim Anderson's WAR
Someone posted yesterday that Abreu w 100+ RBI's still trails Yolmer in WAR. I was thinking today what a good year Tim has had at the plate. He continues to keep his average above .320 . I looked up his WAR after 100 games this season and he is at 2.7. His rookie year he played 99 games and his WAR for that season was 2.7. Now across the board, his offensive numbers except triples are higher than in 2016 including a significant increase in BA and a huge drop in SO. But regardless, his DWAR drop this year offsets his OWAR increase. He has made 10 more errors this year but has an increase in range factor. WAR fans may get under the covers and find some rationale but it seems to me that errors have a greater impact on WAR than any offensive stat.

Frank Thomas reports on @NBCSChicago Sox GM Rick Hahn "leaning" towards not bringing up top prospect Luis Robert after Charlotte done in playoffs
Just a thought to maybe save you some time. Do you really think JR reads his mail? You can be assured he has an admin who opens all his mail and sends to him what he wants and places the rest in her circular file. Maybe send it to Hahn instead in case he is looing for an advisor.........................

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
We agreed previously on Grandal. The guy tends to die down the stretch. But I think there would be a problem dropping him into a 3 way rotation. If you can drop him to 120ish that might work. Otherwise I would pass on him and maybe trade for a LH IB/DH type.

Jay to the IL, Cordell recalled
With word of Cordell being recalled, Vegas just dropped Charlotte's odds of winning the IL.

McCann Extension
I would think 3/54 would even get it done. But the guy is a machine catching games. He would have to agree to reduce his catching duties because he usually breaks down every year in 2nd half. This year he had 19 Hr at the break and has 1 since.

McCann Extension
What do you think money wise it will take?

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
The FA market has ups and downs as we saw with Machado/Harper vs some pitchers last winter. Grandal turned down 4yr-$60 Mil last winter to take $16 this year. I think starting offers would be 3-$48Mil. I agree w some he is a luxury although we need a LH bat.

Renteria goes on pregame anti-analytics rant
But assuming Kopech Robert and Madrigal are added to ML roster next year, when should a change be made? Those 3 plus Gio, Cease, Lopez, TA, Eloy and Yoan are the major components of the rebuild. There are other pieces like Vaughn and maybe Collins and then the major FA additions. I consider it a bad sign if the big 3 from the coaching staff all return next year.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
I agree but in fairness Abreu has hit 16 of his 28 HR on the road.

Is Giolito an ace?
Agree they would have to sign an "ace pitcher" .
-
Is Giolito an ace?
With the way he has pitched this year, Gio will be an ace going into next year and be the Sox #1 starter.

White Sox at Twinkees 8/21/19
He and McCann both have bounced back after the brief post All-Star slump. Must have been the partying at the AS game.
-
White Sox at Twinkees 8/21/19
You must be using ESPN which is wrong. Going in to today, TA is 6th in AL and Moncada is 11th. LeMahieu is leading with .338

White Sox vs Twins 8/20/2019
They are firmly 3rd in the division now. Did you mean 3rd in WC race?
-
McCann Extension
I think that might do it or worse case they have to go 4 years. I think 6 is a good number for him.

Does Leury Garcia deserve a ‘20 starting spot?
I think Rendon fits in to the same category as Grandal. With McCann's August so far, unless he has a total collapse down the stretch, I think Hahn will not spend a huge amount on Grandal. Rendon is a stud offensively, but Hahn will go w Moncada and Madrigal. Unless you foresee someone moving to right, I don't see big bucks going to Rendon. I think Hahn will go for production from RF and will spend big bucks or trade to get that player. Hopefully as CWS said, a LH bat.

The Bill Walton Game: Sox vs what's your name again
Walton gets really old really quickly doing a college basketball game. Who the hell thought he should do an MLB game.
-
8/15- Sox at Angels, 9:07, NBCSC
In fairness, Renteria is ranked 18 of 32 in salary. That is pretty decent especially w his limited managerial experience coming in.

And That's a McCann Slam White Sox Winner!
Beating the Astros in a game you use your "#5 starter" is a beautiful thing.

Luis Robert and Nick Madrigal
Supposedly a great framer but his SB%( which can be mis-leading ) is not as good as McCann. We will see where the market goes this off-season. The Mets offered him 4-60 and he turned it down. As Poppy notes it is a year later.
-
Luis Robert and Nick Madrigal
I understand your thinking on McCann and he would be an excellent backup with just his defense. Also cut Grandal 's catching duties and utilize his bat to prevent his drop off late in year. But if Grandal already turned down 4-60, as I said earlier I would guess you have to go 5-80 to get him.
