  1. Madrigal should be playing all of his minor league innings at SS. See what we got there because i don’t know if Tim is the answer. Eloy, Robert, Anderson is an OF with plenty of pop and good speed plus 2B is a lot easier position to fill.
  2. Have a feeling this will be a painful night to watch as a Sox fan. This lineup can’t touch Nola and it will be a miracle if Detwiler can get through any lineup 3 times without blowing up.
  3. Is there any reason our OF’ers play so shallow? Luery probably wasn’t catching that anyway but still weird how out OF plays with the bases empty
  4. Amazing that Cordero has made it this far into a pitching career without any clue how to throw an off speed pitch of any kind of course he gets a K with a change agree I post that
  5. That was an extremely lackadaisical turn for such an important moment. Yolmer was too slow causing Tim to rush and throw it away. No excuse for either, that play has to be made
  6. It might be difficult to find a replacement, so let’s lock ourselves into the same below average player (that is only getting worse) for safety because of a fear of the unknown. What a bizarre strategy that would be to build a winning baseball team. If Hahn is inept as I think and can’t find a replacement Jose will still be there to circle back to. Conveniently he doesn’t want to go anywhere and I highly doubt he will have much interest from other teams.
  7. No of course Jose hasn’t sucked for 4 years. Anyone who was complaining about him before the all-star break last year was probably out of line. Jose was a very good/all-star level bat and seems like 1 hell of a nice person...but all good things must come to an end, and it seems like we are there/if not really close with Jose.
  8. Don’t get me wrong, making several threads is overkill...but I do find it very odd that a lot of people seem to be in denial that Jose just flat out isn’t a good hitter anymore. At what point are people willing to call it what it is? We’re over 1000 straight PA’s now
  9. I voted yes because I think he will be back. I don’t see our front office being smart enough to move on. If the question was SHOULD Jose be back I would have answered no. A DH that cant maintain an .800 OPS just isn’t useful and I won’t be shocked to see him to continue to regress. He looks/moves much older than he is. At best I’d offer Jose something like 2/$12M and tell him to find a better offer...
  10. I get it, but could that decision not have been made after another 3-4 months of recovery? We are a big market club with a laughably low payroll, to be making moves at the deadline to save a couple $mil is just odd. I at least hope either: 1) the doctors are already pretty sure Nate will never fully recover (as horrible as that is to type) 2) someone within the org knows something about 1 of these 2 prospects that no one else does. im not saying I know the answers or that this is some horrible move...it’s really pretty insignificant. I’m just looking at big picture of what this franchises’ priorities are
  11. For my sanity’s sake I’m going to assume that Texas approached Hahn about this trade. Because theres no way our front office is really focused on trying to save a few million bucks. Right? I mean is there 0% chance Nate can’t be a serviceable middle reliever next year? I guess the team doctors would know better than anyone, but this seems like a really odd salary dump of like $3M bucks.
  12. Nobody should looking at WAR for any player as the end all be all for anything. WAR is definitely useful, but there is an entire collection of data that needs to be considered. Colome’s low WAR is the least of my worries...it’s the fact that damn near every other stat screams luck and or regression is coming. That’s what scares me about not trading him now, we will be left with nothing but an overpriced reliever next year...even though I still don’t think we are seriously competing next year anyway, so I would definitely be looking to trade him.
  13. Phillies now moved Pivetta (26) and Eflin (25) to their bullpen. I wouldn’t mind trying to acquire either, both have legit stuff but haven’t been able to have consistent success. Would be slightly more interesting than Marco Gonzales imo...
  14. I’m all for it...but who do we have to trade? Imo the following have to be untouchable: TA Yoan Gio Eloy Cease Kopech Madrigal Vaughn Robert Collins, Dunning, Rodon I’m on the fence about , would have to be a very good player in return. Whats left after those names that could acquire us anything good? Hahn should absolutely be trying, but it’s going to be tough.
  15. He’s hasn’t been a good baseball player for 1000 AB’s. It’s not a debatable fact. All of your rah-rah homer bullshit isn’t going to change that. Sorry that I want my team to have good baseball players that will win and not more mediocre garbage just because they’ve been here a little while. I want to win...you’re just happy to watch your team not be horrible. Any real fan would be disgusted by this franchise over the past 10 years (excluding the last 2/3 years of rebuilding) and you seem to want to continue on with status quo. I mean, who needs playoff wins?
  16. Trading for Marco to eat innings the rest of this season, letting him compete for the 5th spot next year/lefty long man out of the pen absolutely makes sense to me....just a matter what the price is obviously. Hard to predict a trade when all of our middle/late prospects are either very recent draft picks or older guys no one really wants. Does Alec Hansen’s name still hold any value? + 1 of Micker/Basabe/Walker? Too much? Not enough? Really hard to tell
  17. Kind of odd to me that people are so sentimental about Jose. He’s not Frank, PK, Buehrle, etc. He’s been here 6 years and has never played in a playoff game. Plus only 4 years were really good. We’re now going on a sample size of just shy of 1000 AB’s of a guy that is best suited at DH and can’t keep his OPS above .800. Jose is a great story of what he overcame and he seems like 1 hell of a good guy, but sorry....he’s just not a very useful major league baseball player anymore. We should be looking to move on.
  18. The Phillies are a very interesting trade partner as I don’t think they are looking to make a huge deal but could use depth where we can provide decent vets. A weird package like Nova, Luery, and Marshall could interest them. Would probably have to be a package from their 40 man roster, but I wouldn’t hate taking a gamble on giving a pair of 26 year olds with decent upside a change of scenery in Franco and Pivetta
  19. Team friendly is more like only offer...what team is in search of a DH that struggles to keep his OPS above .800?
  20. Would be a pretty good replacement for Luery if we are able to get anything for him
  21. I’ll give us a solid 2.5% chance of signing Cole. Not going to happen, just prepare yourselves now.
  22. I would go opposite direction of OP and would be trying to acquire an established young SP and/or OF’er with “excess” (for lack of a better term) prospects. Keep: Robert, Madrigal, Cease, Kopech, Vaughn, and Collins to contribute next year. + the obvious of Gio, Yoan and TA Would we have enough to acquire a significant contributor after those guys? Kinda doubt it, but I hope Hahn is at least exploring options. A lot like the Rays getting Tommy Pham last year despite that they cleary weren’t going to make the playoffs.
