  1. With the Mariners seemingly trading any/everyone I wonder if they would trade Marco Gonzales? He’s dirt cheap so they have no real reason to trade him, but he’s 27 and pretty far from an ace. Possibly they’d prefer to gamble on a high upside prospect. Gonzales is a lefty would could comfortably slot into the #4 starter for a few years to come
  2. Well at least the Sox are consistent...I haven’t liked a single 1st round pick since Rodon. Might as well keep it going (not that my opinion really means anything)
  3. His Versatility is nice, but he’s never going to hit enough to be a regular on a championship caliber team (unless we have 7 other great starters) and his D is solid but not anything special. If you can keep him around for cheap as a backup he’s a nice guy to have on the roster, but I wouldn’t pay him much and I can’t see a team giving up anything of value for him
  4. “This is still very much a rebuild” is the exact reason you stop wasting playing time on garbage vets that won’t be on the team next year....very possibly not in the majors.
  5. Kinda surprised to see Frare make the roster. Obviously put up some impressive #’s in the minors, but 3 lefties in the pen? Guessing 1 of Frare or Banuelos gets the boot once we need a 5th starter?
  6. I completely forgot about that in general...but flavum is correct, that doesn’t take affect until 2020
  7. Could be that Banuelos is strictly a Loogy and Covey is the long man. Frare was the only other LH option, I’m good with Banuelos. And with our staff there will likely be a good amount of duds where we need someone to eat 3 or 4 innings...that’s where Covey comes in. Who else would you like to waste in that role?
  8. Barring some unforeseen miracle the Sox aren’t competing in ‘19 or ‘20...so you want to give up a pick and pay Kuechle to be the 3rd/4th starter for a potential playoff run in 2021? Yeah no thanks. With Keuchel’s current tragectory he may not even be a 3rd starter by then. Teams with a window to win a WS in the next year or 2 should be looking at Keuchel...we aren’t in that category
  9. Impossible was a poor choice of words...I’m not a doctor nor have I torn mine so not pretending to know the recovery process of an Achilles. But I think the point still stands that he wasn’t able to do the things he normally can to build/maintain muscle in his calves and quads. The excercises listed in that article are simple things to regain full mobility in the foot/ankle....that alone is a 6 month process. Building the strength in your legs back to/beyond normal strength doesn’t happen until after that. His 2nd surgery was only like 10 months ago. Not to mention in that 1 very out of context picture he’s wearing baggy clothes... It’s still premature to worry about his physique. I’d much rather him be slightly overweight than injured. Take it as slow as he needs to keep that Achilles in tact, getting in shape after is the easy part.
  10. You do realize its nearly impossible to work out your legs with a torn Achilles right? Not to mention he tore it twice...of course there’s going to be atrophy in his lower 1/2.
  11. I think it’s pretty obvious it doesn’t matter what he wants at this point, he’s not getting 4 years. Not arguing the part about not signing him at all tho. I’m not even sure what our “window” is at this point, but it’s very possible Keuchel doesn’t even fit into it
  12. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/03/offseason-in-review-chicago-white-sox-11.html Nothing new here but thought he pretty much hit the nail on the head with how most feel
  13. Cease dunning madrigal eloy kopech robert collins hansen Ruthetford Basabe/Micker/González (pick your favorite) Obviously no order to that...but feel good about 5 of them being at least above average players for the White Sox in 2021? Make a good enough core to make the Sox at least perennially in the playoffs?
  14. This is the type of rebuild that will make “The Process” by the Sixers seem like a quick jog around the block....we’re taking the long long way around and crossing our fingers that at least 4 or 5 of the prospects hit their potential as impact players.
  15. 1. It’s an old saying for a reason...you spend $ to make $. It wouldn’t make sense for anyone to make a huge investment into the Sox and continue on the same path of losing and embarrassing attendance #’s. 2. We already know the current ownership won’t make big signings. We don’t know what the next ownership group would do. Sounds like a pretty common sense reason to want change if you ask me 3. And finally... If you think the Sox are going to develop enough talent internally to be serious WS contenders then I have ocean front property in Oklahoma you’d be very interested in....
  16. Picked trade for Joc, but not limited to just Joc...there are some other interesting names that could be had, Nick Williams if the Phils sign Harper comes to mind. But expecting our FO to do something creative is probably just misguided thinking. They will likely sign an old guy that won’t work out.
  17. I’m all for not signing any vets and sucking/tanking...but someone needs to eat innings. Our pitching staff sucks now and that’s not factoring injuries or further sucking Rondon Lopez Gio Nova ?? Covey and Stephens. Am I missing someone? Because expecting 900+ innings out of those 5/6 is a pipe dream at best.
  18. Meh he’s not actually a good hitter and his position flexibility doesn’t involve any premium positions. Don’t see why we would have any interest in him...
  19. Pretty weird to me that people are worried about winning 70 games instead of 65...no need to even look at these mediocre vets, they aren’t helping anything. I say lose as many games as humanly possible, setting the record for losses would be my goal. Embarrass the FO and hope for change...+ having the #1 overall pick seems like the only way we’ll ever have a shot at getting a true impact bat
  20. Would he represent a clear upgrade for the Sox? Of course, but I wouldn’t give up a whole lot for him. Especially not at this point thinking he’s going to make any kind of impact on this team. I live in phillies country so see a lot of their games and hear all the talk...Odubel is wildly inconsistent and makes a ton of boneheaded mistakes. If you look at his splits he’s been pretty bad for 1/2 the season the past 2 years. I could definitely see the Phillies giving him up if the right deal comes along, but doubt they are looking to move him either. Nick Williams would make a lot more sense if the Phillies do land Harper.
  21. Counting on the White Sox to develop prospects is just madness. Really any team thinking they are going to develop a large % of their prospects successfully is flawed thinking...but the White Sox??? I have no faith in them developing even 1/2 of these guys.
  22. Being out of town I’m not always privy to the inter-workings of the organization....is there any kind of contingency plan in place for when JR does leave (putting it nicely)? Like this won’t be a Jerry Jones/Al David situation where his entitled kid is 2nd in line with no hope in sight will it?
  23. None...don’t piece together a mediocre team with free agents. Winning 80 games instead of 65 does nothing for anybody. And the REALLY said part is I don’t even know where to go if we can’t sign big free agents. We have very few assets left to sell off and the franchise still has a serious lack of talent. The plan seems to be sit and hope..,I guess? Not sure how this mess gets turned around
  24. Wait, is this actually true? They used Yonder Alonso to make phone calls to season ticket holders? Holy crap this gets more embarrassing by the second
