I’m a product of the 1950s, a different time and place. I played Little League at Thillens Stadium and fast pitch softball in the USAF besides tons of sandlot ball. I was also a very good friend of Jimmy Piersall who was a great centerfielder and he would be having some real issues with today’s game including 1 handed catches, he wasn’t wild about diving for balls either, I don’t have a problem with that.

I hope not, wrist surgery isn’t easy to come back from. PGA player Jordan Spieth is a good example.

We remember the last Friday debacle and almost another one on Tuesday, sometimes the Sox can’t stand prosperity.

Hey, the guy has been historically horrible especially in the second half. I blame the hitting coach more than Montgomery as there hasn’t been any effort to change things. The Sox had a guy by the name of Dave Nicholson in the early 60s who had nice power, hit one of the roof at old Comiskey, he struck out 175 times in 1963 and Sox fans had never seen such futility, he was out of baseball by 1966, I don’t want the same thing to happen to Montgomery, there’s something drastically wrong and the Sox coaches have to figure out how to get him on the right path.

Can we trade Kolson for Witt?

Not much more you can say, would have been nice if he got lucky and connected with one for a 6-0 lead.

When Harry left the Sox in 1982 the Sox and Cubs were equally popular in fact in 1983 the Sox were the first Chicago baseball team to draw 2 million fans and again in 1984. 1984 turned out to be a very pivotal year in Chicago baseball history as the Cubs who weren’t that popular (Lee Elia rant) came out nowhere to win their division while the Sox floundered in 1984. Harry Caray also made a huge difference with his Cub Fan Bud Fan schtick along with the Tribune hyping Wrigley Field as the place to be in Chicago while dissing the Sox at every chance they could with other media outlets following suit, things haven’t been the same since.

I agree, I don’t want to give up on him yet but there’s work to be done with him. Obviously the opposing pitchers know what it takes to get him out, now it’s his turn to adjust.

He needs a complete re-do, the Sox must have a 2 week labor intensive period this winter to fix his stance and swing and his head too.

No doubt, he was hired as an OJT manager and I hope he is learning from all his mistakes.
