  1. I'll start believing on April 1 2005
  2. Koskie has only been OK this year and seems to have a lot of injury problems = especially with his back. I know we need a left-handed hitter and Koskie is a grinder. And his power numbers would increase in Chicago. But I'm not sure he's got much room for improvement -- or if it's time to dump Crede. Tough call for KW.
  3. So, Rex, the obvious next questions are: What were your impressions of Brian? When can we expect to see him in Chicago? Does he project as a major league centerfielder? Thanks for any insight.
  4. Sorry if I missed this elsewhere, but in checking the Birmingham box scores for the last few weeks, I don't believe I saw brian anderson's name. Did he get hurt? Is it related to the wrist injuries that have bothered him at time? Anybody have any solid info?
  5. A .235 average plus Scott Boras plus one year away from arbitration might mean a change of address for Joe.
  6. BMac: props to you for jumping two levels in one season, drawing the attention of Baseball America and making yourself one of the top 10 prospects in the minor league. Wishing you the best in the Southern League Playoffs -- and the Arizona Fall League. There's a locker waiting for you to claim it at The Cell -- and soon.
  7. I don't think we have any Boras clients. Maybe Crede. Not sure, though.
  8. Why isn't he pinch hitting a few times?
  9. Baj

Baj looked fine to me. threw strikes. infield hit wasn't a bullet. Slap hit was typical Ichiro. And then a single. Props to Baj. He'll help us next year.
  10. this is probably our first four game winning streak since when ... early June? Twins aren't invincible, but it's tough to see us going 8 -2 or 9-1 on this trip.
  11. my guesses: Loaiza -- came back out of shape this year and threw meatballs. Olivo -- stupid baserunner and not a great game-caller. Maggs -- Ozzie ripped him after the first injury for not being around the team and disappearing after the coaches showed up early to work with him, remember. Rauch -- for leaving the game early. If he didn't like Mike Jackson, it sure took a helluva long time for him to show it. And he kept giving Koch chances and pumping him up publicly. He was traded because he just didn't perform. Those are my four.
  12. Red Sox web site sez he won't be added to the roster until after the season, so he won't be in Fenway this season. Maybe they expect to lose Bellhorn, Pokey Reese or Mueller to free agency
  13. cool I don't understand why the Red Sox would want him. If you can't play for the Reds -- with an infield of Brandon Larson, an injured Barry Larkin and D'Angelo -- then you can't play
  14. hummel is nothing more than a utility player. Not enough power to be a regular third baseman too slow to play shortstop full-time Only ordinary at second base. the only mistake the Sox made on Hummel was wasting a Number Two draft pick on him.
  15. orioles got burned by Ponson I wonder if they'll spend big on Pavano. and I know we won't -- and we shouldn't. We'll be shopping at half-price Mondays.
  16. anxious to see him pitch. hope he appears tonight
  17. We're already spending a good chunk of money on garcia, Buehrle, contreras and Garland. I can't see JR opening up his wallet for another pitcher. We'll try to find another bargain baseman Esteban/Schoeneweis. Somebody who'll settle for a deal with incentives and not many years.
  18. That's all Borchard needs -- three games in his home park with everybody looking at him and looking at Reed and wondering how in the hell KW could tell anybody Borchard, not Reed, was untouchable. Ouch.
  19. percival is on the downside big time he has back issues. and yes, Dunn is the guy we got from Cincy for our former second baseman who dropped that popup in Oakland in the first inning with the bases loaded. Half-speed D'Angelo
  20. good to see love to see him pitch against Anaheim, texas, Minny, Cleveland this year so he'll be able to contribute some next year. I'd also love to see Cotts start a game or two -- and Adkins get a few more innings. Let's find out what we have -- and give these guys more of a comfort zone
  21. From what I've seen Everett needs to get in shape. He looks 15 to 20 pounds heavy
  22. This year Maggs got $14, Loaiza $4 and Valentine $5. That's 23 off the books. contreras gets $6, Garcia $9 and Everett $4. that is 19 million. So we should have a little bit of money to spend. Plus, attendance this year should end up a bit over last year.
  23. I like A Row -- a lot -- but he's got a long way to go to be Magglio.
  24. I know. Texas survived loss of A Rod fine. Oakland has survived loss of Tejada and Foulke. I just don't want to see the Sox take Maggs $14 million and put it in JR's pocket
  25. maybe we can let Everett leave -- and then trade two prospects to get him back next July
