  1. Dunn not playing? count me in.
  2. It's all just sad. Soon it will be cold and dark and most of us will be missing baseball. then we'll start looking forward to next season -- until we remember we're doomed with Dunn and Rios. For three more years.
  3. I'm down with LaRussa/McEwing. Or Dave Martinez. Or hire somebody from Scioscia's staff. Madden, Roenicke and Black have all done fairly well.
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 02:02 AM) An expensive .500 team is the worst position to be in. Far worse than rebuilding. you are absolutely right. Dunn is the 275-pound choke hold around our necks.
  5. as long as the Sox are stuck with Rios and Dunn, it's going to be very difficult to fix this team. first order of business should be to fix the farm system. the foundation for the last decade started with homegrown guys like Buehrle, Crede, Rowand, Lee, Maggs. Supplemented that by getting Garland and Paulie when they were young, top prospects from other teams. we don't have many young guns like that any more. Buddy Bell needs to be on the Purge List with Kenny and Ozzie. But the Chairman won't get rid of all of them. So it's going to be ugly for a while. I expect that they'll trade Danks and quentin to save money and try to get prospects for them. As long as Kenny is the guy evaluating the prospects, look out.
  6. A pulse! Credit Greg Walker for that blast!
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Ever since Dunn was moved down in the line up and then out, the Sox have been scoring at a pretty decent clip. Amen. With merely average production from the DH spot, I have to figure we'd have three or four more wins. I believe Dunn has six RBIs since the all-star game.
  8. they both need to go. ASAP.

  10. Apologies to Dave Nicholson. Only struck out 175 times. That is the franchise record. But not for long. You can put that one on the board, yes.
  11. back to .500 without a knock from the bottom six slots in the batting order.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 04:13 AM) Worst individual season ever. He's making Jaime Navarro and Paniagua look like Mark Buehrle. Great Joe Bread and Water reference. Had forgotten about him. Ha. Now Dunn leaves for defense. Couldn't risk taking his bat out of the lineup.
  13. 1. That is 156 Ks. What is the team record? 190 by Dave "Swish" Nicholson? 2. Takes a lot of balls from Dunn to complain about a called third strike. 3. how many 3K games is that?
  14. Dunn now with 155 Ks and .164 batting average. When will the Ks overtake the batting average? Pick the date.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 03:44 PM) Look at Adam Dunn the previous 5 years or so. He's no heavier now than he was then. No one was calling him fat on opening day. Maybe the problem is his conditioning and that he hasn't addressed it most of his career and it finally caught up to him. We can only hope its that or something else that is correctable during the offseason or you're looking at a guy the Sox may have to release to get better. There is no reason to keep someone that is performing like Dunn on a roster unless there is some hope he will get better. There's no way the Sox will go through this entire contract allowing him to take a roster spot if he doesn't improve. I hope you're right. hard to see The Chairman swallowing $42 million down the drain. think of Adam Dunn every time you pay an extra buck to park or buy hot dog. No way he hits 15 hrs this year. With Lilli passing him in HRs and Dayan promoted, he's going to get more of what he has earned: Time on the bench.
  16. Peavy has done a s***pot of talking for a guy who has done precious little pitching in two-plus seasons. He and Dunn need to return to the National League ASAP. Can't cut it in the big leagues.
  17. Good luck trying to sell season tickets with Dunn on the team for next season.
  18. That's whiff 151. Won't be long til the whiff total eclipses the batting average. tough to do. He's simply awful.
  19. Let's see what Mr. 35-100 has. I think I know.
  20. QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:26 AM) Jones actually had a worse year than Dunn in 08. not quite. Dunn is historically bad, the worst in 100 years.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:15 AM) I'll always take a 35HR & 100RBI "one trick pony" You don't have to take him. You've got him. And he's easily the worst player in the major leagues.
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:02 AM) It's almost like you have never heard of Adam Dunn before this season and this is the first you've seen him. If you want to believe he will be a .160 hitter with about 15 HR each of the next 3 years, then that's fine, I'll be sure to buy you some more coloring books and crayons for X-mas then. Dunn has been a one-trick pony who has played on crappy, losing teams for a long, long time. they couldn't wait to get him out of Cincinnati because he doesn't have enough pride in his craft to get in shape. You can believe in the fairy tale that he'll bounce back next season. But he's putting up the worst season in 100 years because he's lost it. As bad as he was in the first half of the season, he's been WORSE the second half. he's done. Finished. An embarrassment. Props to Konerko.Sox would be lost without him.
  23. make number 2000 extra unforgettable paulie
  24. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:52 AM) I can't help but think what difference the extra 20+ homers Dunn should have had by now would have made on this season to date. Get those thoughts out of your money. the Donkey has been neutered. He's done.
  25. bad play. But unlike Dunn, at least flowers A) hit the ball and B) hustled his ass off.
