  1. Robert watched that one and it rolled over the top of the wall. Take it, though.
  2. Kutter Crawford with 29 pitches through 3. Is he on his way to a no-hit Maddux?
  3. Wow, that Banks outing could really have gone worse. Red Sox blew a couple of great opportunities. If only the Sox offense could make anyone pay.
  4. Wow. Compare and contrast the approaches of these two teams. Red Sox taking some tough pitches. They've gotten a couple of calls go their way and now they've got a rally.
  5. Sox have seen 17 pitches through 2. Their lack of approach is grooved.
  6. It's about to be different. Sox had a huge hole in pitching in the upper minors. Some of that is related to the abbreviated 2020 draft. There will be a lot more starting options in 2024-2025, which they will need. I will say, complaining that they started Banks instead of Scholtens is a pick your AAAA poison situation.
  7. McDougal done for the day 4.0IP 3H 1R 1ER 1bb 3K. Topped out at 97, sat 94, good breaking ball. Simas going for W-S. Tagged for 2ER on 3H in the first. HR Chapelli.
  8. Burke is a great defensive centerfielder. Makes all the routine plays, gets great jumps, he almost made the most incredible catch I've ever seen. I can see the Adam Engel comparisons, but he's been better at the plate than Engel ever was in the minors.
  9. You'd think, but W-S has Veras, Gladney, and Goosenberg splitting ab's at 1b, so maybe they feel there's no room at the Inn. I can imagine them promoting Veras/Gladney once the Southern League is finished with that stupid pre-tacked ball. What a competitive disadvantage for teams that have affiliates in that circuit.
  10. https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox McDougal going for Kanny. They lead 3-0. Double for Burke, HR for Elko.
  11. It is no coincidence that the Sox have lagged in data-driven analytics and that their opponents have outcompeted them. There is a book on this entire group of hitters: throw them sliders out of the zone. They will swing. Rinse. Repeat. I look forward to Colson Montgomery cuz he’s a little different, but Sosa, Colas, Popeye, and to some extent Ramos all fit that mold. Jury is out on Burke because his K rate is better than expected, but they are building another generation of the exact same thing. That is why I am vehemently opposed to them drafting Yohandy Morales.
  12. Comas 4IP 2H 0R 0ER 1bb 3k. This conversion just might work. Still interested to know how hard he throws.
  13. Montgomery now 3-3, 2 doubles, 2 walks. Burrowes up to 8 errors already.
  14. Isn’t there an entire thread discussing the exact Hahn quote at the end of this article? Merkin is making Hamburger Helper out of the one time Hahn spoke to the media. Mods should merge.
  15. New mock out from Mayo. He has Sox taking Chase Davis? Aiden Miller still on the board. I think the way these things work is they assign the dumbest choice possible to the Sox, then work backwards. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-2023-mock-draft-june-22
  16. Another ugly start for Reyes. Young, and DSL, but between the walks and getting hammered every start, there's nothing in the performance to get optimistic about. OTOH, Nunez 1-2, bb, HR, SF, 3 rbi. Alsinois has also been intriguing so far, as have Mogollon and Flores.
  17. I'll give you Middleton. It was a rare bad outing for him, but Santos got five outs, the first three in a very tough situation, and then got into trouble with 2 singles, one that didn't leave the infield. Bummer's the one who couldn't get his man. For a young guy who had struggled in the majors with the Giants, Santos has been very good.
  18. https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Early start for W-S. Dalquist getting hammered yet again.
  19. How long has he been sore? How shorthanded were they Sunday and Monday? The way this team deals with injuries -- not putting injured guys on the IL for days and weeks -- and then rushes players back before they're ready, it's scandalous. They're lucky they're not getting sued once a week.
  20. Good win, but unfair that Santos was on the hook for the loss and Bummer gets the win when one of them pitched very well.
  21. Anderson stays in the game to catch.
  22. Burrowes 2-3 with a triple and a HR
  23. "If I determine that, based on my job performance, I should be escorted through the streets, as you say, naked, I will be the first to volunteer to do so," Hahn told the assembled media, "I don't believe that to be the case. The next time you see me naked in the streets of Chicago I will be dancing during the parade."
