  1. Hernandez should only go an inning or two today, but he always looks like Max Scherzer against us, so I wouldn't be surprised if he goes 5 innings, 75 pitches.
  2. Right wrist inflammation aka Reese McGuire Syndrome.
  3. Ugh. The lack of depth in that area is brutal. They would never do it, but if anyone goes down, I'd make Crochet an opener to try to up his innings for next year .
  4. Whether Frazier is good in right or not is beside the point. He is here cuz they think maybe they caught lightning in a bottle with the bat. The real question is “How’s his defense at second?”
  5. What part is scouting and what part is development, though? Dodgers and Rays know how to teach people. The Sox have been less good at that.
  6. Marisnick DFA.

I have watched a fair amount of Veras. Personally, I'm a fan. He's the son of Wilton Veras and the nephew of Fernando Tatis, so he is He Who Shall Not Be Named's cousin. Big guy, but fairly athletic. Started at 3b but moved to first when Sox drafted Wes Kath. This winter, they switched him to rf. He has a strong throwing arm. Not tremendous range, but he's not terrible out there. Has a pretty good idea at the plate for a kid who doesn't turn 21 until November. Strikes out a tad more than you'd like, but will take his walks. Mostly doubles power now because he does not loft the ball as much as Gladney. If you're high on him, and I am, he's in the 11-15 range for Sox prospects. Because of his youth, I can see him rising much higher
  8. He's actually played right and center in Charlotte, but that park is so small Sheets could play center. I wonder who gets bumped from the 40 man? Probably Davis Martin to the IL-60. However, Padilla is awful.

Hard to believe Nicolas Padilla is on the 40 man. Just gave up 4 runs in two thirds of an inning. His ERA is 7.5. Depth.
  10. Good win. I can see why the Royals have struggled. They are not good.
  11. Man, Kelly looks phenomenal.
  12. Do not like the way they are using Crochet.
  13. These teams are seriously not good.
  14. Boy, Alberto really gives you a horrible at bat. He swung at like 5 balls there.
  15. I hope they perform better against Lyles than last week. The Sox really struggle against mediocre righties with even acceptable breaking balls.
  16. Bullpens, man. No consistency from year to year. Last year, he won the division for them.
  17. Kopech was every bit as good as Cease before he hurt his knee last year. Hopefully, this is him getting that groove back.
  18. I hate the fact that Grifol has Crochet up right now. He is committed to using him for one batter in the 8th inning. No way they develop him as a starter.
  19. Kowar is suddenly painting.
  20. For a catcher, Melendez makes some nice plays out there.
  21. Kopech looking like Kopech pre-knee injury last year.
  22. Vaughn being super slow was a huge part of that.

9 earnies in 1.2 for Ponce De Leon. He has found the Fountain of Blech.
