8/7 GT: Sox @ Rangers - Giolito vs. Howard (135pmCT)
Timmy U replied to ChiSox59's topic in 2022 Season in Review
Predictable, but what a fricking joke. It's August. Leury sucks. This isn't some April slump, it is who he is. Meanwhile, you waste a kid's development time. If you're not gonna play him, why is he there? Please God, get rid of TLR before he destroys the entire rebuild. -
Gotta believe it's the suspension. Sosa was pulled from second game of doubleheader and last night's game. Seems like they planned this.
-
Excited for Sosa. With his ascent and Colas, Cespedes, and Popeye all raking in AA, the Sox have some options on reconfiguring the team. While 3 of those guys (plus Yolbert Sanchez) are RH hitters, they are all better defenders than what we're running out there now. If we're not scoring, might as well catch the ball. I can imagine an all Cuban outfield of Colas, Robert and Cespedes (at least in the later innings). Add in dark horses like Romy Gonzalez and Carlos Perez and the Sox have an opportunity to do MLB for MLB swaps this offseason. Please, no relievers!

Birmingham is now losing 13-8 largely because they tried throwing home instead of taking the sure out. Should be 9-8. Our teams are dumb at every level.
-
Colas has hit the ball hard his last 3 times up, nothing to show for it.
-
Second HR of the night for Cespedes.
-
HR Burger. Birmingham melting down. Yoelvin Silven is NP for me. Never understood why BA was so fond of him.
-
HR, double and bb for Cespedes. He seems to be getting it a little. Colas 0-3 but just hit the ball hard for an out.
-
No Sosa tonight. I wonder if he's hurt.

Guardians DFA Franmil Reyes, release Bobby Bradley

Man, this sport is cold. Cleveland has a lot of prospects coming up. Their 40 man is going to be tough to manage. Maybe they're getting a head start. -
Another HR for Romy. He’s gonna hit 1 a day until they promote him.

Chronic illnesses to start year, had his tonsils removed at the All Star break. https://soxmachine.com/futuresox/after-a-quiet-trade-deadline-white-sox-only-have-charlotte-for-help-now/

Still, Graveman turns the line up over. Semien due up 4th, Seager 5th. Puts a lot of pressure on Hendricks. -
Another HR for Romy Gonzalez. Probably too good for ACL. He's missed so much time this year, he may need a lot of rehab assignments before he's ready for Charlotte. HR for Cameron Butler, who has been a lot better lately.

Swinging at ball 4 is something he used to not do. -
Have fun. I live in NYC, maybe I'll check out tomorrow's game.
-
Perez ended up 3-4 HR, 2b, 1b and Sosa went 2-3 with a HR and a walk. Good night for the Venezuelans.
-
To be fair, they traded for Alonso. Took a bad contract off Cleveland’s hands.
-
Loidel Chapelli sure hits a lot of triples.
-
I would add Mieses to that list, but as has already been pointed out, there's so much filler on the Sox 40 man, I don't think this should be their primary concern. Off the top of my head, Abreu, Cueto, Velasquez, Engel, and Harrison are all free agents at the end of the year. Aybar, Crick, Foster, Severino, Sousa, Stiever, McGuire, Romy Gonzalez, and Haseley are all cuttable. That's 12 guys. Our farm system isn't good enough to need to protect 12 guys.
-
He has been heating up again lately. Good to see.
-
How much is too much to give up to increase the marginal chance this garbage team wins 1 playoff series? I wouldn’t give up much and they don’t have much. This regime’s long history of prospect overpays (Semien, Tatis, etc) has me very wary about what they will give up. And their poor acquisition history has me wary of who they will get (Shields, Swisher, Smardzjia, Yonder, Cesar, etc.). Hence, I am rooting for them to stand pat.

Sure, David Peralta will solve everything

Pilkington is the perfect example of our FO not understanding mlb trends (or being extremely late adopters). With 2020 interrupting pitching development, non-impact mlb-ready SP rose in value. Teams like Minny & Cle took advantage last year, the Sox decided to focus on it in the draft.
