White Sox promoting Wikelman González
Varland is pitching in the ACL, so he's trending in the right direction. Otherwise, this team is at a pretty low ebb. Lose 8 in a row, most of them close, and lose a bunch of SP.

Another HR for Brooks. Man, Capra and Rojas had better be playing some pretty good defense.

Devers
Jordan Hicks’ contract offsets some of it. It’s possible that they have soured on Harrison, but how do you throw Tibbs into the deal too? First of all, bad for Tibbs. He’s 1b/dh compared to Red Sox outfielders, but also, the Giants farm system is not deep. Dumping one of the few hitters you do have is a head scratcher. Anyway, good move for the Wrong Sox.

Wolkow HR. The upward trend continues.

Oops. I jinxed him. Just grounded out. 2-3.

Zavala 2-2 up to .254 ops .733. With his D, he doesn’t have to hit much more than that to be a legit prospect again. Seems like a good kid. Really rooting for him.

Right now? No question OF. He has played a a lot of CF this year. For a huge guy, he runs very well. Throws well too. Big question is the hit tool.

Keep in mind, Wolkow is younger than Bonemer. He is very young still for the level.

Now 3-3 hitting .230. Love to see him hitting singles. The power is gonna play eventually, he just needs to be a good hitter. The rest will take care of itself.

Wolkow 2-2 so far. Up to .226. Feels like he’s been making strides lately.

Ugh, I would rather he go directly to the majors. Charlotte is where pitchers go to die. Look at Pallette.

Colson 2-5 with 3K. Last at bat reverted to earlier season form of hacking early and often at sliders nowhere near the zone.

Baldwin Back, Palacios DFAd, Owen White to AAA, Tyler Gilbert recalled, Ryan Noda claimed from BOS
He’s starting his second straight game. Three more and then they’ll release him.

Oops, I forgot Alexander.

I think when they activate Civale, Shuster goes down. Hard to carry 4 lefties in the bullpen.

I agree there’s no need to rush Bonemer. One concern, however, is that A ball pitchers won’t pitch to him. He’s being walked a lot. Some of it is him being selective, some of it is opponents have decided they’re not gonna let him beat them. At a certain point, the Sox may decide that he has to go up to be challenged. But that would be much closer to the end of the season.

Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale
Not a fan of Civale, however, it's him or Clevinger, so I love the trade. If Elko is not the answer, and his pedigree does make that unlikely, the Sox have a ton of options starting with moving Vargas there and playing some mix of Rojas, Sosa, Colson, Baldwin, or eventually even Antonacci or Bonemer at 3rd. First Base, not a tough position to fill. I wish Andrew the best and would not be surprised if the change of scenery plus the Miller Park effect really helps him.

6/12 Sox @ Stros 7:10PM CT
Guys do it enough that there’s a term “platinum sombrero” or “Olympic rings” to describe it. Generally, I like Slater well enough but he and Elko absolutely killed them last night. Maybe Slater should have kept the stache?

McDougal’s emergence is one of the best things that could have happened to the Sox this year. The stuff is absolutely elite and he is still just 22. Kinda replaces Grant Taylor in my rotation dreams if Taylor does end up staying in the bullpen.

Charlotte got walked off, but Clevinger pitched well for the second straight start. Hard to imagine he doesn't get the call at some point. Not loving it, but what you gonna do?

Schultz also goes 5.2. 1H 0R 5bb 7K. So... I dunno. He was so dominant at the same level last year. He's still very good, but the walks are kind of shocking.

Good night for McDougal 5.2 1ER 1bb 7K. He's their #3 pitching prospect right now. Probably top 15 in the system. Schultz no hits through 5, but 4bb and 6K.
