  1. Tauchman follows it up. Suddenly 3-11 w/RISP
  2. Ther you go, Brooks!
  3. Alexander entering a game is a signal that Venable is giving up and preserving arms for tomorrow. He manages like every contest is game 7 of… Spring Training. He is not trying hard to win.
  4. Alexander getting ready for loss number 14, which is really impressive considering how many innings he’s pitched.
  5. Another recipe for losing baseball: 1-8 w/RISP, 2 errors, 5 bb. No wonder they’re gonna drop an amazing 230 games in a two year span.
  6. Booser is gonna have a hard time surviving at 93-94. Wasn’t he at 97-98 earlier this year?
  7. Quero got screwed on that at bat.
  8. To be fair, both those guys were in AAA 2 weeks ago. Also, Katz mostly works with the starters. I think they gotta fire Matt Wise after two awful years from the bullpen
  9. Ellard’s stuff looked really good. Obviously you can’t walk 3 of the 9 guys you face. Gonna be interesting to see if Mead can actually play 3b. Or does Ramos, who is a much better defender, get a shot down the stretch.
  10. He deserves better. Sox have struggled with lefty relief all year. I think he is one of their best 14.
  11. Oops, didn’t see they adde Ellard and Ramos. You are right. Probably DFA Bryce to add Clevinger.
  12. They don’t need to DFA anyone to select Clevinger. Rosters are up to 28 now. To not add a pitcher before today’s game is malpractice, but the Sox have proven that they are willing to play short-handed.
  13. WTF. I get that they want someone to throw innings and protect younger arms, but c'mon. Clevinger is a glaring example of everything that is wrong with this franchise. They don't care about what the fans want. They don't develop young talent. They don't prioritize winning at the mlb level in any way shape or form. They've let Tyler Alexander put up 13 losses in about 2/3 of a season. For the $1.3 mil they save by letting Civale go, they're exposing themselves to millions in bad PR. Oh yeah, and they have plenty of milb relievers who deserve to get their feet wet in the majors AND who are Rule 5 eligible over the winter. Instead they're carrying Clevinger, Bryse Wilson, and Owen White on the roster for God only knows what reason. I'm not part of the firs Chris Getz crowd, but fire Chris Getz.
  14. Ball 3 split the plate. What are these umps seeing?
  15. Bryce Wilson is back. Oh boy!

    Good game so far for Hagen Smith: 5IP 2H 0R 1BB 8K
  17. Ramos was hurt in Spring. His second half has been much better. My issue with Elko is that he has massive holes in his swing that mlb pitchers will exploit. Ramos has a much sounder swing and is more versatile defensively.
  18. I am not convinced from what I have seen in mlb that Elko is more deserving than Ramos. Maybe Ramos is a Sept 1 call up and they both get some run.
  19. No surprise there. Only other possible option was Ramos. I still suspect Ramos > Mead, but we’ll have to see. I have very little belief that Elko can hit mlb pitching, but he seems like a good guy, so I will be rooting for him

5 more scroreless for Shane Murphy. His ERA is down below 1.40. I believe he is Rule 5 eligible. I’d protect him even though he does not throw hard.
  21. Hope Vargas is okay. If there’s any soreness, with Montgomery already out, they should put him on the IL and bring up Elko, I guess?
  22. This is going to be a great draft at the top, especially the first three picks. I would be thrilled with Lombard, Emerson, or Cholowsky. Not interested in another pitcher with a top 5 pick. McDougal and Oppor were both taken in the 5th round. Arms are available later. Premium position players, not so much.
  23. Trading actual prospects for Gilbert and Booser was moronic in retrospect.
  24. Not ideal seeing Fajardo listed as Boston’s hottest pitching prospect. At the time that trade was a head scratcher. It has not aged well. For the Sox, Pipeline listed Oppor, no wait, McDougal, no, Peyton Pallette. A reliever. Don’t know what to make of that. I don’t think they’re paying much attention to the Sox system.
