Hate to say it, but just on baseball, Clevinger looks like a better short-term option than Bryse Wilson. He is throwing the ball fine against a not particularly good Gwinnett team. Knights stranding bunches of runners so far.

I think he’s plummeting into Fabian territory. That may be a 30 hit tool and that’s hard to draft in the first 3 rounds, let alone at 1-10.

Yes. They have moved him to the pen. Since he is on the 40, I think he has a great shot at getting called up in that role this season. He has been on Boston’s 40 for a couple of years, so his options are dwindling and the Sox did not have a ton of time to be patient with him. More concerning to me is the way they’re using Taylor. Tonight 1IP 1H 0bb 3K. He seems on the fast track to closer town and he is not running out of options.

This is how last year's edition lost so many games. Poor fielding/bad decisions/bad luck blew up into a big inning and offense too anemic to overcome it. For the most part, this year the team has played way cleaner. So disappointing, but I think this is a blip.

I have always supported stretching out Vasil to be 5th starter. B Wilson’s stuff simply is not good enough. Otherwise, you’re looking at Clevinger or bringing up Schultz earlier than planned. Sox have a lot of reliever candidates to backfill Vasil.

Montgomery hit two balls really hard to the left side tonight. Good sign. Earlier this year, he was pull crazy and it made him vulnerable to everything. When he was good in lower levels, he went opposite field a lot and controlled the zone. He doesn’t need to hit 30 HR if he does those things.

I have been as down on Vargas as anyone. If this change allows him to tap into some power and he plays good D, huge win for the org. Fuller earned his salary on one guy.

I agree up to a point. I don’t think he’s gonna hit .405. There will be some regression on batted balls. The kid looks really good so far. I think we should enjoy that. Add in the fact that he seems like a terrific person, it’s easy for me to wish him success.
