  1. I think a lot of lower level mlb players are gonna be hurt by the death of the cable box. Soto may get $600 mil, but guys barely above replacement are gonna get squeezed. Listening to podcasts about who’s available in the bargain bins makes me wonder if it’s not just better to take your lumps and go all young, all league minimum.
  2. I get the anti-Moncada sentiment here. Huge disappointment. But I guarantee if he plays 50+ games, he’ll have a higher WAR than Vargas. I keep searching for what Getz saw in that guy. Supposedly Fedde is on the block. I will be interested to see what the Cards get for him.
  3. Probably. But they had no choice. The market for Moncada ain't $25 million, so this thread should be titled: "Obvious Move #2"
  4. Love the hire. Princeton grad, great resume as he worked his way up the ladder, played in the bigs. If he isn’t good, at least there were no obvious red flags going in. Maybe he can will the Sox to 59 wins? Or is that an impossible dream?
  5. I agree. Anyone but Nevins. Which means I think I know who they're hiring.
  6. For sure. You put those kind of tools with a kid who's been around the game his whole life, he's got a chance.
  7. I could get behind hiring Lombard and then taking his son 1-1 or 1-2 in 2026.
  8. I was sort of making a Vaughn joke, but thanks for the insight. I would not have taken Wilken at anything like 1-10, so I suppose I feel that way about Ford too. Obviously, if he turns into Goldschmidt you’d love him anywhere in the first round. I would prefer more upside. I am heartened that the 2026 high school class looks very very promising. That may be the best hope for this rebuild.
  9. Wow. R/R 1b with limited athleticism. Who would be dumb enough to draft someone like that in the 1st round?
  10. What’s Ford’s range? I could see him in the 3rd round. 2-1 seems a bit rich for me.
  11. I live in NYC, so I can stream the Sox except when they play the NY teams. It is awesome. Only thing I miss is the postgame show. A national TV package around that would be great for fans. I don’t know if the large market teams will ever agree to it though.
  12. I mean, sure, anything is possible. But where is the RSN for the Sox down there? Fan Duel South? Good luck. Nashville is no farther towards a new stadium than Illinois is with the 78. Occam’s razor says it’s more likely that incompetent org do incompetent thing.
  13. I beg to differ on Elko’s defense. He may K in a third of his at bats, but the man can pick it at first. A huge defensive upgrade over either Vaughn or Sheets.
  14. Sox coaches to,d him that and he finally listened in his last 5 appearances. The guy is stubborn. Certainly not Bannister’s fault.
  15. I would love to keep Robert but I wonder if Reinsdorf is looking to dump the salary. If either Crochet or Robert is dealt, I am hoping for the Dodgers. Either DePaula or Hope seems like a good place to start. Plus, maybe we can send Vargas back to them.
  16. Generally speaking echo isn’t mic placement. It’s usually either echo in the studio or speakers in the studio. Essentially the playback is getting into their mics. Has to do with the physical studio space. Hopefully, they’ll spend the money to get a sound engineer in there.
  17. Vargas is also out of options. If he looks as bad as he looked last year, when does he go DFA? Spring? Halfway? Do they give him a full season? At this point he’s a sunk cost and in a tier with Fletcher, DeLoach, and Colas as a failed prospect who you may or may not want to give another shot to. He’s behind Sosa, who at least got hot at the end of the year.
  18. This is already a radically run-starved environment. You eliminate 2-strike foul balls, no one will score and the sport will die. Why not raise the roster size to 30 and make 17 of them pitchers? That would also limit the number of pitches thrown.
  19. Why are we talking about Mike Clevinger in a Robert trade thread? At the very least, shouldn’t this be in the “Fire Chris Getz” thread?
  20. This Vargas trade was obviously terrible the moment it was announced, but with how bad Vargas was afterwards, this could be one of the worst trades in Sox history, non-Tatis division.
  21. Thorpe was the major part of getting Juan Soto to the Yankees. Mena is just not that big of a prospect. I mean, he's no Mason Adams.
  22. Where would Mena rank among Sox pitching prospects? 10th? He certainly isn’t top 5. Moving him was the right call. Choosing Fletcher as the return was where they shanked it. They should trade pitching this offseason, but they need to get actual hitting back.
  23. Hopefully Getz learned from Vargas fiasco -- Do not package your mlb assets.
  24. I can't do another offseason of arguing about whether the O's will trade anything of value. They won't. If I'm gonna fantasize, I'd rather fantasize about Crochet going to Boston for Roman Anthony.
  25. Me too even though I watched him suck in AAA too. Spaced on Duke Ellis too. Only position player I missed.
