QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) It was a show that raised questions about a mysterious island, and then preceding not to answer half of those questions, while the writers desperately sought to justify this decision by screaming, “It’s all about the characters.” It’s not. It was never about that, it was about the circumstances that these characters were thrown into and how they coped, and what they learned. Ultimately, these characters could have met and grown close anywhere. Why did they need to meet on an Island of unexplained coincidences so they could go to heaven together? I was hoping you'd use that word That's why I'm fine with it. Also, the show was ALWAYS about the characters. It's lesson one on how to write a TV show or movie. It's why most episodes had flashbacks-forwards-sideways about a character(s), and not that toy truck on the island, or the stone plug, or tom's fake beard manufacturer. Cause that would be boring and idiotic. Every show that has come on the air since LOST premiered that has tried to be the next LOST has FAILED because they didn't focus on the characters like LOST and tried to only use the mystery/twists/crazy s*** as the driving force behind the plot. They have all been awful and gotten the axe PDQ...

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) College Humor presents Unanswered LOST questions. About half of these are dead-on and give a good indicator of just how off-base an approach the writers took in their set-up and executions of questions and answers.. http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1936291 I watched 2 mins of that before I got bored, and I didn't find one question that, if answered, would have made the show more enjoyable on any level. I feel really sorry for you guys that are so obsessed with these "unanswered questions!!!11!!!" that you can't just enjoy the f***ing show for what it was.

Another great effort from Danks with no run support... would be SHOCKED by any other outcome.

MBINAA Seriously though, not since 2005... -
Curiosity has gotten the best of me I think.... I almost want the team to keep playing like this, because I HAVE to know how the front office can justify this management. It's beyond ridiculous...

If I'm Danks I'm demanding a trade. They offense f***s him over every start....

Was thinking about this last night, I honestly wonder if they'd be hesitant to fire Ozzie because the cameras are rolling? Might paint the organization in a bad light/PR nightmare etc. -
Godsmack has the #1 album in the country right now.... Just in case you needed something to be flabbergasted about.....

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 12, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Whoa, whoa, I f***ing hate LA. And I hate you.... To be fair though, I hate "downtown" LA. It's the worst downtown in the history of downtowns. Hollywood is really not that interesting I don't think, but some folks find it interesting, all in all Hollywood is pretty dirty, is the best word I could use to describe it. At the very least just take a drive up the sunset strip if you're into rock n roll history and see some of the clubs (Whisky, Roxy, House of Blues/The Riot House) Universal Studios blows, Disneyland, while expensive is waaaaay worth it and Anaheim isn't that far, and if you get on the 5 at like 10am on a weekday it only takes about 45 mins to get there from the Valley. San Diego is NOT a hour away from Los Angeles. Santa Monica is really nice, the pier and promenade are musts. West LA in general is a pretty cool area. Burbank has a lot of studios if that interests you (Warner Bros, Disney, NBC and technically Universal Studios is in Universal City but it's literally right across the street from Warner Bros.) Don't go on the 405. (I have to every morning...it blows)

Before we get too excited about Short, lets all remember Jeremy Reed his .400 too, and he could take a walk....

Better hot corner prospect: Morel or Gilmore? (I'm genuinely asking, I have no input)

I'm in favor of a month long stint in AAA. But I'll give him until June 1st. Maybe move him down in the order from now until then to see if that helps him out, if not send him down and hope he can mash after the ASB....

QUOTE (The Critic @ May 8, 2010 -> 05:19 AM) I see your point (about the Dan/Matt writing split), but I tend (like most) to like Matt's songs more anyway. I disagree with your point (about being bland and uninspired), though I can see why you'd say that. I think maybe I'm just a fanboy (and therefore would like almost anything they did)? I do share your fondness for parentheses (I use the plural form of the word, although both are correct). Have you heard the song "Good f***ing Bye" by Matt? Just a solo acoustic thing - I really like that song. That song was pretty great... Hopefully his solo album will be in that vein (even though that's from '02) I'll keep giving it (theoretical) spins and see if anything clicks. It did take a while for me to like the stuff on A & I, so maybe this will take a while. The two songs that have stuck out from my listens are "Fine" and "Lead Poisoning" the latter mostly for the trumpet solo haha Was looking at the wikipedia page for This Addiction in the "reviews" section and this line total sums up my feelings:

QUOTE (The Critic @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) Listening to the new Alkaline Trio disc "This Addiction" right now. I really like it. They're consistently so good. They sold out three shows at Metro instantly. I've tried and tried, but I just can not get into this album, and Alkaline is one of my favorite bands of all time. It just seems so bland and uninspired. Nothing grabs me. They may went back to their straight up punk roots, but I was kinda digging the new stuff they were trying on Crimson and Agony & Irony, which is not to say I don't LOVE the earlier stuff they're trying to go back to (Good Mourning is my fav disc) but back then, honestly, they had better more creative lyrics -- the main reason I got into them in the first place -- and hooks. I think one of my main issues with this disc is that there's too many Matt songs (what's it like 8-3? 9-2?). I like it better when there's an even split and sometimes I even liked Dan's songs better (not an opinion shared by many) I like to use parenthesis....

Beckham needs to be moved down. He's putting too much pressure on himself, bat him 6th or 7th. If he's gonna be the face of the franchise for the next decade, he ain't gonna be doing it from the 2-hole....

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) He hasn't worked for ESPN in over a year. I know.... Is still hate him haha I listen to sports talk from 4-7 at work, and since it's online it's the same commercials over and over and there's a few Steven A. Smith commercials that make me want to jam my letter opener in my ear....

Anything with Steven A. Smith. What an annoying D-Bag....

That Macku Place looks good. I'm really only looking for some good, but not super-fancy overly priced sushi.

Is Mariano Rivera EVER gonna regress? Dude is a freak. Every season I think, well he wont be so dominant this year, I mean he's 40, but every year he's a rock...
