listening to a little "War All The Time" right now

Damn. They actually nominated Bill Murray, maybe he is gonna win the Oscar too. I thought there was a chance they would screw Murray because he's a comedian ala Jim Carrey for "Truman Show" and "Man on the Moon" Good for Bill.

The recent announcment of A-Rod being named Captain of the Rangers got me thinking. Has there ever been a captain on the White Sox in all of their history? And also if you were to name a Captain of the White Sox right now who would it be? I really gotta think about who I would name Captain of the Sox now....

That's a stupid reason to give an award to a movie. If the first two can't beat A Beautiful Mind and Chicago, I don't know how the third one can beat a Cold Mountain, Mystic River, Master and Commander etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave them all the Visual, Cinematography and Director Awards and not give them Best Picture. But MY opinion is that it shouldn't win Best Picture, mainly because I've only seen one of the nominated movies (Lost In Translation) and I want that to win The GG's did do good on the TV awards though. Bout time 24 got some recognition. The damn Emmy's nominated the same stuff for Best Comedy and Drama 2 years in a row, and the god damned West Wing won for Best Drama for like the fifth time, when even the Creator/Writer Aaron Sorkin left the show because he thought it sucked. As far as Comedy goes, I do like 'Raymond' I don't watch it that much, but with the amount of pure hilarious moments on Curb Your Enthusiasm's 3rd Season, it should not have one. And Will & Grace, Sex and the City, and Friends shouldn't even be nominated at this point. Thankfully Friends Sex and possible Raymond are all gone after this season so they can get some real deserving (Scrubs anyone?) nominee's in there. It will take 2 years though since the last seasons of all of the shows will be eligable for nominations for the '04 Emmy's. I want to see shows like Scrubs and Arrested Developement getting the recognition they deserve.

I don't think 'King' is a shoe in at all. The other two didn't win. It's very rare a picture will win best picture when none of the actors are even nominated which has been the case with the previous two sans a supporting actor nod for McKellen which he lost. Another reason I think it won't win is that Hollywood really looks down on you when you shoot over sea's. You're taking away work from people in the U.S. and they don't like it when you do that. Also, and this is a quote from someone else: "You're not gonna win Best Picture if your movie has action figures"

We'll have to see how the '04 Oscars matches up with the '04 Globes The one thing that bothered me about the Oscars a couple of years ago was that hey snubbed Jim Carrey TWICE. He didn't even get NOMINATED for the 2 Golden Globes he WON. That was such Bulls***. Just cause he's a comedy actor, that's why I'm afraid that Bill Murray will get screwed.

Too bad the Golden Globes are Bulls*** awards. I was glad that Lost in Translation cleaned up even though it was just the Golden Globes. Bill Murray's speech was hilarious, I really hope he get's the Oscar for that performence.

I know nothing about politics, nor do I claim to, but that outburst from Dean clinched him my vote, if I vote, for sure. I've never laughed harder than when I saw that speech. Whether people view it as good or bad, it's gotten him a s*** load of publicity.

Is there a big demographic of Japanese people in Chicago? I know it's not as big as the one is Seattle, and that this signing won't have an Ichiro kind of impact, or even a Matsui one, but I wonder if this will bring some more media attention.

I've said this before, I'm not gonna judge the team on paper months before the season starts. On any given day etc. etc. etc. Nobody last year wanted to sing the praises of our great team on paper, but now we ALL pass judgement on our so-so team on paper. I don't get it....

Another reason why I would like this trade even though I know "IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN" is it give the Sox a very strong pitching staff that would hopefully keep them in the game. Ozzie has already said that they need to get away from the big boppers and HR hitters. I would say sign Sausage Killer Randall Simon to replace Konerko. While Encarnacion and Simon won't make up for the run production of Konerko and Maggs, they may do just enough to get us W's, especially if the pitching can keep them in the game.

It's another contradictory thing. Everyone is quick to point that out that last season the team looked good on paper The whole "that's why they play the game" thing, It's just the team on paper so don't get to excited. We are the on paper favorites but not the divison favorites But everyone is jumping on the on-paper team this season and preaching it like gospel. It's not we may suck, it is we WILL suck. On paper this team looks like it will be bad so it HAS to be true. I don't get it..... 2003 White Sox: On Paper looked really strong, but did not win the division 2004 White Sox: On Paper look weak, ???????? If all goes according to plan. The Sox should do well this year.

Here's what I don't get. Everybody agree's that JR is a cheap owner, so big time FA's, ie. Guerrero Tejada etc, are out of the question. Everybody gets mad when the Sox don't make trades or sign anybody. Everybody complains when the Sox make small FA signings, ie.Person, Darensbourg etc. If we all agree that JR is a cheap owner and agree that Big time FA's are out of the question, why are you complaining when they sign small time FA's? Shouldn't these kind of signings be obvious and expected?

I took an awkward step coming down the stairs and POP my left kneecap was on the side of my leg. Most pain I've ever experienced, the popping it back in wasn't painful at all, the dislocating hurt like a motherf***er. First bone breaking or dislocating I've ever had, which is funny because a couple of days ago I was talking to one of my friends about how I've never had any problems with bones. When I get some $$$ I will be getting the CYE DVD. I have seen all the episodes before so I'm not in a huge rush. The mock-umentary is great. "You get this great gum conversation on tape?"
