  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 08:48 AM) Everything I've heard from Cashman suggests he is NOT going to gut the minors. Doesn't mean he won't make a trade, but he isn't going to turn around and give back everything he stole over the past couple years. Exactly. I don't think they were planning on being good this year. I can see them dealing some prospect depth for a rental type without touching the big prospects and just rolling with that and seeing how it pans out.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:15 PM) You guys are nuts if you think I'm going to go through my contender scenario again. I'm not trying to get banned. Your scenario where you, again, mention no names on who we should have signed/traded for? I renember you saying the Sox should have added a pitcher, DH, catcher and OF but never mentioned who or how.
  3. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 07:20 AM) What's the obsession with people wanting to trade the team's best players? Anytime a player has success, there seems to be a thread about what the Sox could get for him from another team. How about this, keep your good players and build a winning team with them. *if you can extend them.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) Not ignoring your question, but I feel like nobody wants to hear me give my case for contending again. Every time I bring up the question "who would you have signed?" you always ignore it
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 09:46 PM) I just wonder why I can't belabor the point and have to endure sentences like he wrote that offer nothing but saying how happy he is we are losing. Seems unfair I can't respond in anger. I'm like El Rockin a big Sox fan who despises losing especially against these prick teams from our own division. Twinks and Royals bother me but I hate the Indians as well. He said "good loss." He didn't say he was happy. It's a rationalized positive spin on it. Since you seem to know we could have won the division this season without trading guys, who should the Sox have added? Who should the Sox have replaced Avi with (as they would have if they were going for it this year)?
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 09:31 PM) shouldn't this be considered trolling? I could go into an angry diatribe at this but I'd be the one banned. Don't need to keep arguing this every other day. We know your stance. Let people watch and rationalize losses how they want.
  7. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 07:47 PM) The more time he spend in AAA, the worse Swihart's hitting gets. maybe a change of scenery can get him turned around. I doubt Red Sox will want Frazier. As I posted previously, they have a band-aid for now, Brock Holt is heading for rehab in AAA and Devers may be 6-8 weeks away. With the way Pedroia's been going on dl and getting dinged up consistently this season, they may need Holt at second base more often.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 12:16 PM) This thread has offically gone full Caulfield... Never go full Caulfield.
  9. I wonder if the Red Sox would be willing to deal Sandoval away along with at least B level prospects. Not necessarily to us but to someone.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) How about we have a poll, do you want Jose Abreu to start at 1b for the White Sox in 2018/19, or do you prefer he DH for the overall good of a young/developing team? I mean, we'd be better off spending this whole offseason preparing Avi Garcia to play there, in all likelihood. Don't even need to make an acquisition. I vote: Abreu DH without signing a 1B.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) What happened to Alexei's defense in 2010 when Vizquel was playing 3B next to him? You're telling me that whether you have Abreu or Brandon Belt over there, it makes no appreciable difference to the middle infielders? Come on...that was more Vizquel coaching Alexei. Elvis Andrus was a rough defender to start his career but really turned a corner when Vizquel was the backup infielder in Texas before he came over to the Sox.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) Abreu semi-consistent at bats, or Delmonico/Hayes? I'm saying like once or twice a week (or every few weeks...whatever semi-consistent is).
  13. I don't mind rolling with Delmonico and/or Hayes at 1B with Abreu the primary DH while still getting semi-consistent at bats throughout the season.
  14. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 10:44 PM) Todd will return a similar value to what the sox gave up when they got Youkilis from the red sox. I could see Swihart + Bell or Beeks. And I think I would gladly accept that deal.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 05:25 AM) Good time to pick up Michael Saunders for free and see if they can get him hot in June/July/August, then flip him. He'd have to play CF though, although perhaps they can find an early taker for Melky and clear a spot. Would have an obvious effect on Leury (could be traded), Engel and zwilly Garcia. Pretty shocking the Phillies even signed him, but he was really good most of last season offensively. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/06/phil...l-saunders.html Idk I think I'd rather play who we have already. And a Melky deal could mean Delmonico comes up.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) Well aren't you like a ray of f***ing sunshine around these parts. Haha I was just making that statement because its not like July 31st is next week. And even if many AL teams don't sell, plenty of NL teams will.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 12:37 PM) ESPN Podcasts‏ @podcenter 1h1 hour ago “A lot of AL teams aren’t going to sell like we’d initially anticipated.” - @Buster_ESPN to @keithlaw Still close to a month and a half...more sellers can emerge.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) Burdi has not earned a call up. Keep him in AAA this year. Agreed. What's wrong with that?
  19. Imagine that scenario where a team actually pays up for him. A guy we would have given up on if we tried to go for it this year actually brings back something great. Would be a fantastic surprise.
  20. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Britton is out for the year. Unless there is a new update, no he is not. In fact, he's expected to come back by the All Star break.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) I would absolutely start my ask with Robles and go from there. Robertson is not worth Robles on his own, but Kahnle adds a ton of value with how well he has pitched this season. Depends on if the Nats think he will keep it up over the remainder of his years of control.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 08:06 AM) In twitter, Sherman or Heyman noted that Andujar was promoted before they knew full extent of Torres injury so it may not be a long term promotion. I'm sure the plan was for it not to be long-term but the dude has been hitting at Double-A. I bet he stays at Triple-A rest of the year.
  23. I love the idea of playing every team every season. Gets boring seeing the Tigers, Indians, Twins and Royals all the time.
