  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:49 PM) I have an unhealthy dislike for Rizzo. As a person or ball player? Dude's been through a lot beating cancer and I know he does a lot off the field.
  2. Brad Hand, anyone in the Marlins pen who could be pitching good (idk off top of head).
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 11:03 PM) Neshek isn't a closer though It doesn't really seem to matter at this point. They need anyone. It all depends on when the front office feels like pulling the trigger(s).
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:09 PM) Yep. It'll be fascinating to see who ends up being correct - the do something now crowd, or the wait til the deadline crowd. Not sure anyone here is saying they will/should wait til July 31.
  5. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) Moving Machado to SS for the short term makes sense since they don't have the prospects to get someone like Cozart but that would put them firmly in the Todd Frazier sweepstakes with the Red Sox and Yankees. Only out 4-6 weeks so probably not.
  6. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) I think the Sox are wise to pull in the Dodgers, get Verdugo along with Lux and Keibert Ruiz plus a lottery ticket arm and you are in business. I am not much of a fan of Frazier, not sure he is going to make enough contact to really warrant being a centerpiece of a deal. He seems to be a right handed Matt Joyce, which while nice, isn't extremely valuable. Mateo's 30% K rate in A ball makes him a non factor in a deal. Kaprelian's TJS takes him out of the equation. I am sure the Sox would take Torres despite the TJS, but without him the Yanks really have to bring a lot of depth because the top of their system is not nearly as strong as some make it out to be. I don't know if a team can really "pull in" another team. The Dodgers obviously know Q is available. The other team needs to want the player as well.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) I think that once Frazier is traded, Davidson will be the everyday 3B with Delmonico at DH/occasionally spelling Abreu at 1B. Yeah I believe so too. I was just referring to as of now with Abreu, Frazier, Davidson and Melky currently getting every day at bats.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 01:07 PM) He's only a DH, though. His defense isn't playable in the Majors as of now. Yeah I'm not sure where they would play him with the current alignment because as of right now, Davidson also deserves every day at bats.
  9. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) Yes - using empty retail outlets in Downers Grove to be tech incubators, shared workspaces or even just offices for new startups and small businesses. Erlich Bachman would be proud.
  10. Definitely voted Hawkins as a joke. But a serious vote for me would be selling low on Q so the first choice there.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) This is going to be one of those things where I had no idea who Florial was 2 days ago and now I'm going to be demanding he included in any deal! Yep...you see a name, do some research and look at his stats/age/scouting reports and you just want him. That's happened too much with me over the past year lol
  12. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) In fairness, nobody, including myself, saw Judge performing at this level. Yeah most people including the guys who analyze players/prospects for a living really just had him penciled in as a low batting average, high power, lots of Ks type of player. He could ultimately just end up being that over his career, though.
  13. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) I see that we are back to Q to the Yankees chatter. I remember back when these talks were going on in the Winter and people were saying how Aaron Judge wouldn't cut it as a headliner in any deal for Q. Oh my how things have changed... I don't see Cashman trading away his prospects. The Yanks are ahead of schedule. They will just buy pitching in the offseason. I could see them buying a rental without having to give up their top prospects.
  14. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Avi is probably pretty low on the Sox list of priorities to trade right now. He's young enough to stick around through a rebuild and possibly be a piece for the future. I do not think he is as good as he has played, but I also think he is in better shape and has improved. Unless the trade offers were strong I would not move him. The only reason I'm so open to dealing him is his 2 years of control. Like I said in a different Avi thread, wait at the very least a full year to maybe extend him. Ideally, wait a few months into next season and if he doesn't want to sign, trade him in next summer. Unless of course, a team wants to give you a package based on the value of his current season in hope that this is what he is now.
  15. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) I'm down for Frazier + Adams + Florial for sure, but Mateo gives me pause. What about Frazier, Adams, Florial and Andujar (who seems like a guy who is blocked currently)?
  16. Justin Wilson and Ryan Madson are two other bullpen targets for the Nats, according to Rosenthal.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) I don't think a whole lot of people who be disappointed with that. The problem is the odds of it happening are virtually non-existent. Agreed.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) Yeah, 100% this. I don't see anyone paying an All-Star price for Avi, but if they do you take it and run. But honestly, every day he keeps this up until the deadline, the more likely a team will come calling. Exactly. And we didn't want George Springer last year because he had like 4+ years control remaining. Why should we keep Avi with only 2?
  19. If he had more of a track record and more than 2 years of control, I'd say keep him. But if a team offers you the value of his current level of production, trade in a heartbeat.
  20. I'd be more inclined to keeping him if he had over 2 years of control. Trade him.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) Well you continue to post the same thing, despite the fact that the team and the manager are clearly frustrated. We all f***ing know they don't have to do anything. Guess what? There is no rule that says you have to try to win in professional sports, ever. The point is that even watching from the outside, you can see the facade is starting to show signs of stress due to their bullpen blowing nearly every. single. game. But yes, we all know, they do not have to do anything. I never said they didn't have to make a move to win post season. Go back and look. That was never the point I was trying to make. They don't have to do anything...yet. They can wait for more teams to fall out of contention and more options to be available. 10 game lead in standings...they'll wait a bit.
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:38 PM) The division sucking is one thing, but not adding substantial relief help would be a major problem for the nats me That pen of not playoff worthy. Again...I know...
  23. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:53 PM) Eh, any move they make is going to be for October. They could probably win the division with you and I closing. But in the playoffs they will need guys like Robertson. Well I know that by my point was that they haven't quite hit the urgency to make the move for an arm due to their lead.
  24. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) I hope Q throws 8 shutout innings an a no decision loss... starting a 5 game losing streak. Yep...
