QUOTE (Nokona @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 06:01 PM) DeLeon to the Rays for Forsythe. Interesting.... Yep and there's already a thread for this kind of stuff. -

Pirates will never give up what the Sox want. I said they were a bad fit all along. They seem like a perfect match but they feed off their farm system. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) Sox invite 19 to major league camp. Names coming... INFs Cody Asche & Everth Cabrera, LHPs David Holmberg & Cory Luebke, C Roberto Pena, RHPs Blake Smith & Anthony Swarzak, C Geovany Soto. He must have been signed today or something because that's a new one.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) Yes he did. I pressed him about it last night. My handle is JamesFox917. I suggested that as the package and he liked it on twitter. Those are the names being bandied about. He just can't confirm it. Honestly, I'd probably consider Glasnow, Keller, Newman, and Hayes if they added their Competitive Balance pick. That's 3 top 50 prospects, a young 3B that can hit and a 2nd round pick. I would do that deal as well. And I definitely didn't see it in his series of tweets. My bad. -

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) No Meadows, no Bell, no deal. Pretty simple. As I pointed above, Rumbunter never hinted or suggested that the above package is the offer Hahn recently rejected. -

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 08:04 AM) Dont know if this got lost in the discussion but that Rumbunter guy tweeted that Hahn turned down a "hefty" deal from the Pirates. Hinted its Glasnow, Keller, Newman, and Diaz. I actually don't see where he says this. Another poster just said that Hahn isn't crazy for rejecting that package but don't see Rumbunter saying that is the deal. -

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 06:03 PM) They were never trading Moncada and Devers together because that creates a hole they can't fill internally at 3B. I'm surprised they didn't offer Frazier with Sale to try to get Devers added. That still doesn't make sense. Devers is not playing in the MLB this year. And Frazier is only under control for one year. -

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) I think it is getting to the point where a full tear down will not happen or was not the plan. I can see holding out on Q but I think the fact that none of the 2nd tier players have been traded is a sign that the goal was to unload Eaton and Sale. Maybe that was a compromise between Hahn wanting a full tear and KW wanting a half-tear. Those second tiers guys really don't have much a market either though. -
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) Sports Mockery Hardly what I would call a rumor. Jim Duquette suggested the White Sox were a good fit and they wrote an article about it. Oh yeah. That's not "Sox trying to sign Wieters."

Yordano Ventura, Andy Marte both killed in separate car accidents
Bob Sacamano replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) They should tell them not to drive fast, and don't drink and drive. It will stop immediately. I am with you, what can be said? They have examples and it continues. I am sure they get some sort of counseling anyway, but nothing competes with the naitivity and indestructible feeling of youth. When I was 15 one of my best friends hopped in a car to go home after school with a guy who just got his license . The driver drove like an idiot, hit a light pole, and my buddy is severely brain damaged for life. Even after that, when I got my license, I drove like an idiot, drove drunk several times, and got lucky nothing happened. Now I won't drive if I have 1 beer. But most of us are in the same boat. when you are that age, bad s*** isn't going to happen to you. Even if it is happening all around you. Man same here. I look back on it and thank god I never harmed myself or others or got stopped by police ruining my life. -
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 04:07 AM) I think it is impossible to predict based on his small stint on the major league roster. It is worth noting that Flowers hit for a .223 BA with a .289OBP in seven years with the White Sox. If the Sox have a catcher who can hit .240 and be decent defensively, that would be an upgrade. Can Narvaez do that? Not sure That is one of the big questions and why the Sox signed Soto. But that is not to write this player off yet. He surprised everyone when he came up last year. Throughout his career, he's always been a guy who can draw walks. I'm going to predict: .243 avg, .340 obp, 8 homers with plus defense.

QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) Rumor has it that the White Sox are trying to sign Matt Wieters. I would think that if this is going to happen it would happen this week right before Soxfest. Haven't seen this. Where did you see it?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 10:55 PM) Because it will be interesting to see this in 4 years, I am going to say the best I can say. Dear Mr. Trump, I hope that you are the most successful President in the United States. To be that you do not have to be perfect, but you do need to put America first. Just becoming President should be the prize, your children will be granted access beyond your imagination, they will have a chance to become pseudo-royalty, no matter what anyone may have previously thought, you have made it into the upper echelon of society. So please for the sake of our country, either divest your ownership or put your companies into a blind trust. Everything else I am willing to give you a chance on, maybe you can fix crime, maybe you can improve the economy, maybe your tax ideas are the best and you can destroy ISIS, bring global peace and usher in a golden era for society. But, most of those goals are not realistic, so all I can really ask is that you do what you believe is best for all of us. And one of the ways that you can convince people that you will do that, is to show that your decisions wont be influenced by whether or not you stand to personally gain. Good luck, you have just taken on arguably one of the most difficult jobs in history. All you can do is consider what is best for the world, because responsibility to all nations is part of the job description as President of the United States of America. Well said.

I know a lot of people that want him to fail. Why would anyone want that for a country they live in?

Not a Typical Rebuild According to White Sox
Bob Sacamano replied to Thomas_Ventura_Roberts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 21, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) They can call it a rebuild, I call it a train wreck. They have nobody in the farm system to help their every day lineup at 3B, Catcher, Dh, and all 3 outfield positions. This so called REBUILD has all the potential of lasting for many years. Its early in the rebuild though. Yes as of right now, it still lacks depth but they still have a couple more years of trading players and drafts to fix that. -

QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) I don't know why they turned down that offer from the Astros. They have him for 5 more years and they're not looking to trade him yet. They're not rebuilding. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) Think of how good they would be if they had drafted Bryant instead of Appel. Then drafted Rodon instead of Aiken. They ultimately got Bregman, but wouldn't have needed him with Bryant, and Rodon would look awesome in their rotation. Bryant, Correa, Altuve. I could play 1B and it would be one of the greatest infields in the league. They had 2 picks in a row the year they got Bregman. Wasn't he the first of their 2? So yeah they likely would have ended up with Bryant, Rodon, and Bregman. Dearlord. Edit: They'd probably try to convert Bregman to left (similar to now but would have more reason to do it). -
QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 01:34 PM) I too wonder why he's never mentioned with LAD. Supposedly they are looking for a right handed hitter which he is. Is he still hurt? Anyone hear injury update? Love to get Barnes from them for Lawrie, even if we have to add a little. I think Barnes would be a reach. Fringe guy or two as the other poster said is probably what we're looking at.

My friend posted a status asking if Barrack Obama was the greatest President or a great President. Need a couple more options there, fella as the answer is "neither".
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) Have to wonder why the Dodgers aren't at least a little interested in Lawrie. Obviously he is nothing special, but he's better than their internal options at the moment, and likely won't cost much to acquire. Agreed. He's not great but not bad, cheap at $3.5 mill, and wouldn't cost much to acquire like you said.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) He almost got the win and the save in WS if it weren't for a BS in game 2. I don't think I have ever seen anyone do more with less than MB. I just looked at his stats. Had a season where he threw 245 1/3 (I never use the stupid .1 or .2) innings. Thats crazy haha
