Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) To further elaborate on this...yes, I prefer Moncada to Robles, but I still think the Sox could've gotten more for Sale. I think they knocked the Eaton trade out of the park, but I was hoping for another player from Boston. Devers was probably a pipe dream but I don't know why the Sox couldn't get at least one of Travis/Swihart/Dalbec in addition to the 4 players they received. Or even one of those guys instead of the 4th piece.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) They may have also known Washington was willing to part with many of those prices for Eaton and didn't have anything better lined up for him. Yeah, I'm not sure they could have done better for Eaton, even if they waited. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) This is funny now. When a deal surrounding Robles/Giolito/Lopez was being discussed immediately preceding the trade, people were very against trading for a 19 year old who had not shown much power as the prime position player. Agreed. Hard to complain when we got 2/3 of those pieces the very next day.

Spring Training notes thread
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 09:58 AM) Huge Delmonico fan, although I'd probably give him a look in LF. Not sure he can stick at 3B from what I read. Yeah I'm not sure either, but this would definitely be the season to find out.

2017 Watercooler TV thread
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) I chuckled at "president Pence". I'm not sure if they had the year, though. I didn't like that the main characters were barely in it. Though, an all Kristen Wiig episode is better than an all Tandy episode. At least it was different. You're not kidding. I do enjoy this show, but when I first got into it, I marathoned the first 2 seasons in one weekend (I was sick and wanted to watch something new haha). He just got so unbearable after a while. It was very difficult to do.

Spring Training notes thread
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) Hayes is a bit older than I'd like but he's having a nice spring. Yeah he could easily see time at 1B and DH in the majors this year.

Spring Training notes thread
Nick Delmonico is having himself a nice spring. I'd start him at third in Triple-A and prepare him in the event that Frazier is dealt. Younger than Davidson and also a left-handed bat.

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
QUOTE (turnin' two @ Mar 6, 2017 -> 09:39 PM) The Ben Badler article seemed to indicate they are well positioned either way. Well, if you read the whole article, it indicates they are favorites ONLY if he's cleared after July 2nd. Lists Cardinals and Padres as favorites otherwise. It's a poorly titled article in other words.

Could the White Sox be better this year?
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 6, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) It's a good thing for a chance. April and May weather is usually not great for Chicago baseball and it's better to have more home games later in the summer I saw there's like a 10-game stretch in May where they play in LA, Seattle, and Arizona.

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) Doesn't matter. Unless this guy is willing to take $300k, the Dodgers are out. I don't think anyone is getting at them being an option for him. Just a team that someone was countering to the "Little Havana" comment on the other page.

Sox vs Dbacks
QUOTE (Nokona @ Mar 5, 2017 -> 05:26 PM) Hard to have a real gamethread when there's no way to watch the games And people are busy during the week when they play their games during the day.

2017 MLB DRAFT
QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 4, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) What if he can hit like Schwarber? What was he, pick # 4? He was also drafted into a loaded farm. Hopefully the Sox are at that point in 2018 though I would still prefer a premium position player with a similar bat.

2017 MLB DRAFT
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 4, 2017 -> 01:20 AM) In all serious that would be a terrible pick, when you draft a DH first overall or a projected DH. There's a reason why up the middle players are always the first players taken in any draft and the top international targets If he was projected to potentially play a corner spot and he was around the 6 or 7 pick and we picked there, I'd probably take him. But probably not first overall.

White Sox Request Waivers on Lawrie
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 05:35 PM) Rollins, Lawrie, Navarro, Morneau, Latos, Jackson, Avila, etc. Shields and Frazier still around. So shocking that guys who signed here on one year deals last off-season are now gone. Crazy. /green

White Sox Request Waivers on Lawrie
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 04:05 PM) I guess I was expecting the immediate impact of a hitter like Benintendi for Chris Sale. I am not concluding that Moncada was over hyped but I am starting to wonder if he will turn out to be as good of a player as his rating as a number the number one prospect in baseball. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/red_sox...ying_to_be_more Your assumption is based on him not being ready? WOW

White Sox will be ranked #1 #2 or #3 at mlbpipeline.com
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) While our system is dramatically improved from last March, I wouldn't put us top 3 right now due to a lack of depth Our system has nice talent in the top 10, but gets significantly less interesting beyond that Landing a player like Robert, drafting well this season and a few trades (Quintana/Robertson) could really boost the system further I agree. Probably in 6-10 range.

**2017 Films Thread** (Beware of spoilers)
QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) I thought wolverine didn't age. Is that explained? I think it was explained in the second solo Wolverine movie. But that doesn't count anymore since that timeline was reset with "X-Men: Days of Future's Past." Even before that movie, it was riddled with inconsistencies galore. MCU 1,000,000 x > X-Men cinematic universe.

White Sox Request Waivers on Lawrie
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) It's more just that basically everyone is already gone from last offseason where they made a ton of moves. The performance of the players was very underwhelming as well. Who else is gone from the "ton of moves?" They biggest one is still here.
