  1. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) I haven't played Resident Evil since back on the original Playstation days. Would I be missing anything if I jump into the newer game? Nope.
  2. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 09:41 AM) Resident Evil 7 is very good and won't be a time sink. The Last of Us Remastered is always a good pickup as well. This^ QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) If you didn't play Last of Us for ps3, get it for ps4. And this^. I've played through Last of Us at least 4 times already and play the multiplayer a lot (haven't had a ton of time to dedicate to new games as well). RE7 was a game that I beat in just under 10 hours.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 07:13 PM) How are we ranking the positions in terms of premium? I'd probably go... SS CF 3B RF C 2B LF 1B So where do we draw the line? Catcher I believe should be top 3 for sure.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 05:51 PM) Let me ask the board this. Would you guys rather have Robert, 20 guys signed for $300k each, plus whatever we could get for $3.5 in slot money or our last two signing classes? I'll take the former hands down even with the helium Tatis has right now. Robert is too special of a talent to pass on for a bunch of B/C tier 16 year old prospects. Agreed. Also with a hard cap, teams will hit their limit that they can spend and a lot of the kids are going to be forced to sign for $300k. So if he clears before the next signing period, sign at any cost.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:33 PM) They did not get screwed. They knew full and well the next change would cut down on being able to blow past the cap. The white sox were helped by the new rules. I meant from a standpoint where they were never able to sign a bunch of the top talent in one signing period freely. This would have been the year for it with so many teams capped at only $300k signings.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) It was a different circumstance. Ideally, yes the Sox would have blown through, but for those that did, there is no guarantee they can sign him either, and if he is better than the guys you signed, isn't one better than 3 or 4? I am quite sure there are teams unable to offer Robert more than 300k that would take another 2 year penalty to get him signed. The Sox got screwed with the CBA change. If it were still the same rules next signing period as it was the previous few years, they would be able to load up on a bunch of the top guys. But yeah, it changed so what can you do? Might as well sign the best prospect possible. And 19 at that.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) Sorry, I wrote it strangely, now that I read it again. My bad. What I meant to say was, yes, if he clears before 6/15 (who knows if that happens or not), the Sox have every reason to go big and sign him, and I'm guessing they will be very much in the mix. If he clears after, then the Sox have a very good shot at him in the same way they were able to get a lot better Rule 4 draft picks when those rules changed. Either way, the Sox are in it, and it makes a ton of sense to go get him. The Sox haven't done a rebuild like this since the late 1990's. The amateur scouting department has new leadership that has so far shown they don't do things the old ways - in fact they went into penalty range in the Rodon draft. The Sox have less teams to compete with due to current penalties for some teams. The team is projecting to dramatically decrease MLB payroll in this rebuild. The attitudes in the front office have shifted. While it's silly to say the Sox WILL do it, I think in this case it's equally silly to say 100% they won't. Nah you were fine all along, I think I just quickly glanced at it the first time.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) Interesting. Thanks for the insight. Regardless, everything coming from Boston's camp makes this seem ominous. I have always liked Price and I wish him the best here. Yeah I've always been a fan of his.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) This is such a problem. I don't have a problem giving up the long drunken Friday/Saturday nights I have a problem giving up the random 2-3 IPAs I have after a long work day with a friend/girlfriend. Yeah I've cut back significantly on the drunken Friday and Saturday nights. They happen on very rare occasions now. The beer and the gin and ginger ales help take the edge off after a long work day.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 12:32 PM) They are still on last year's, so what he is saying is if they were going to blow it and get the penalty, spending more earlier would be the play. And he is correct. The only thing is, if he doesn't clear until later, you have zero shot. Assuming they don't have any big agreements not yet know for the next signing period, they are one of the few teams that can be in either way. I misread what he said completely. For some reason I thought he was saying Sox could sign him early next period and then go ham after. I understand and get everything you said. Misinterpretation on my part in my cubicle haha

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 12:09 PM) I'm not the least bit religious but usually give up something. I gave up Diet Coke this year. That said, since I'm dealing with surgery recovery and kicked booze 101 days ago, I'm going to go ahead and jump back on the soda train. f*** that. Congrats, man. I want to do the same. Just tough because of my friends and wanting the "end of a long work day" drink.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) Which makes sense, as if the Sox want to blow the limit, better to do it at the beginning of a period so you can go ham. My statement still stands though - dismissing the Sox out of hand because of history doesn't really work in this case. Pessimism I understand, but I don't think you can say this is not going to happen. What exactly do you mean by "go ham?" They can't go past their allotment. Suck they were never able to take advantage of the old system.
  13. Actually, if you read the article, he mentions the Padres or Cardinals would seem to be the favorites pre-June 15 and Sox would seem to be the favorites after July 2 due to having more money to work in the hard cap period.
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) Is this possible. If he became available soon, could Boston sign Luis Robert to a huge deal then trade him as part of a package to the White Sox? I don't think it is possible. In June or July, I think it is. But they wouldn't be able to sign him now just to trade him a day later.
  15. I was joking when I first brought up the idea in this thread. I don't see the Red Sox emptying their farm anymore.
  16. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 11:36 AM) Wonder what the Red Sox would have offered for Sale had this happened before the Sale trade. Anyways what do the Red Sox even have to offer? Devers, Groome, then what? Devers, Groome, Travis and then another interesting piece. Or would that be too much? Maybe Devers, Groome and then 2 pieces in the range of the Diaz guy we got.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 10:56 AM) I thought the Sox were changing their drafting philosphy? This is the philosophy that people began to hate recent of drafting athletic guys like Anderson, Hawkins, walker etc. And it doesn't really gel with the Collins pick haha
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 10:53 AM) Young player who has had success in the MLB and in pressure situations including post season. Plus at this point, who are they going to replace him with? I think the Red Sox could still get a deal done without him if they wanted to. But they likely don't want to make another add that will hit their farm significantly more. They've traded a lot of good prospects over the past year and few months.
  19. I'm not sure they Yankees will compromise their youth movement.
  20. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) When you see see Logan, make sure you're seated for the very beginning. Saw the movie last night and the hype is real. I can see this getting some awards love, especially Patrick Stewart. Hugh Jackman's best turn as Logan and Dafnee Keene was a scene stealer, hard to believe that was her first acting role ever. Great movie, like a cross between X2, No Country For Old Men and the Searchers. It actually looks good to me and I'm not a fan of either solo Wolverine move nor most of the X-Men franchise movies (there's more than one X-Men, Singer! The movies are called X-Men, not X-Man).
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 10:20 AM) Sale/Porcello/Rodriguez/Wright/Pomeranz is a decent rotation but nothing special IMO. It's fine to start out with but they may be looking for another arm in June/July if someone struggles or is hurt. Let's just hope one or all of Holland, Shields, and Gonzalez are pitching decent at that time and can be flipped for something interesting on a pitching needed team.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 10:20 AM) Best case scenario for Sox is that teams that are realistically in contention for Q think of the slight possibility that the Sawks get involved and it pressures them to ante up. Or teams who thought maybe the Red Sox would runaway with the division are now possibly thinking they could slip to a possible wild card spot and can look to improve their own chances of competing with them.
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) I dont think the Sawks will have much interest in Q. The reason why they went after Sale was for worst case scenarios like this. It wasnt just thinking of best case scenario of having three number 1's. They may add in mid season but I dont see them going to the well again trading for Q. That would be borderline irresponsible and totally reactionary without thought for the whole picture. I don't believe they traded for Sale as a precaution to Porcello or Price going down for any significant amount of time. You make that Sale move to put your team way over the top. Now they are just in the same spot they were last year with (even though Sale > Price).
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) I think they'll roll with it. Just sucks for them. Sucks for everyone, really, would have been a fun rotation to watch. Yeah it would have been.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 09:56 AM) I don't know haha, but I'd be pumped if the Sox picked him up. It would be a nice boost for sure.
