SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) In regards for the Sale derby. Red Sox actually appear to be telling the truth when they say they won't pony up the price it would take to get Sale. Apparently Bregman and Springer are being dangled (not together) but the team still would ideally prefer trading him to the NL. Take this with a grain of salt if you want, but my source has been right about everything he has said so far dating back to 2014. Bregman please.

Sox could try to attach Shields to Sale trade
f*** that. Eat the rest of the deal. You need someone to throw innings the next couple of years. If anything, try to attach him to someone with already lower value like Frazier, Melky, Robertson etc.

Evolution of "high leverage" relievers....
I don't think this strategy would work during the regular season compared to the playoffs.

Bleacher Report: Jose Quintana, not Chris Sale, is the most valuable o
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 07:11 AM) I think they should trade Sale, Jones, Frazier, and Melky at a minimum. Maybe Abreu and Q too if they get a good offer. I think it'll be Sale, Frazier, Melky, and Jennings. Maybe Robertson but they might just see if he can dominate the first couple months before trading him. Edit: I keep forgetting about Gonzalez. If a team needs a back end starter hes there.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:35 AM) They will probably hold onto our long term core in case we hit big on the Sale trade. Then move most of the remaining players in 2-3 years if it is a bust. The short term contracts will probably be gone this offseason like you mentioned. Exactly. They don't need to trade all right now.

Rangers prospect facing charges
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) Do you have a point or what? haha I get what you were trying to say and you didn't mean that it is ok. You don't really need to explain anymore because people can't/won't understand. This story is straight out of every exaggerated college fraternity movie/show.

2016-17 free agency thread (NON WHITE SOX RELATED)
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) Now that Castro has signed with the Twins, I can't help but wonder who the White Sox are going to have as their catcher in 2017. Are they going to bring back Avila? Are they interested in Wieters? Either 1) they sign a right-handed hitting back up to pair with Narvaez and act as a mentor (Ryan Hanigan?), 2) bring back Avila, and 3) probably very unlikely, they sign Ramos to an inflated one year deal to attempt to flip or get a draft pick for next offseason.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) Not a guess, he's got information on the club's plans. So we should expect Sale to get traded for the best package (even if it's less than what the front office and us fans originally wanted). Does he happen to know for sure which teams are having serious discussions with the Sox (I'm not talking about the ones we know in the media but maybe someone who hasn't been reported on)?

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 05:32 PM) http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/labor-p...baseball-112216 Ken Rosenthal reports that a labor lockout is looking possible. Great...lets just drag this offseason out longer (though I don't think there will be a lock-out).

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) I didn't hear this as a "media type" or whatever. This is what someone around the team expects to happen. No posturing or manipulation. So this is only by his own opinion? Like a guess? And I never expected both to go this offseason.

How would you feel emotionally if/when Sale is traded?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) He didn't hurt anybody, did he? Those uniforms were a joke. The Sox should have consulted him since he was scheduled to pitch in those awful uniforms. It's his arm. If he's totally uncomfortable it does nobody any good. Didn't he already tell somebody he didn't want to pitch in them? From my understanding, they knew since last year's game they wore those. I think it was reported that he said he'd never want to wear those while he is pitching. Forgot where it was posted.

Bleacher Report: Jose Quintana, not Chris Sale, is the most valuable o
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) I just think the Red Sox would rather have a 40 million Sale on their roster with all of their spects than a $13 million Sale and a boatload gone. Have to see on the rest. The dodgers did not re-sign Greinke after all. Greinke isn't a good example. He was a free agent at what, 32? Sale is 27.

Bleacher Report: Jose Quintana, not Chris Sale, is the most valuable o
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) Thing is, its more like $20M+ in savings. Sale would make $30M+ per year easy in FA. If Sale never signed his extension, he'd be a free agent right now in a pool with no other pitchers like him or even close. He would easily get an 8 year/$250 mill deal (Dodgers, Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs?)

Charlotte Knights Third Basemen since 2006 - an anthology
QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 07:32 AM) Who said White Sox can't develop position players? Who's on Third in Charlotte in '17? Peters, Delmonico, Trey M? I enjoyed the article, Julie. Possibly Davidson if he isn't the starter in Chicago. Trey should be in AA again.

Rangers prospect facing charges
I can see what rabbit is trying to say about it not being as big a deal in their culture compared to ours. But you know what else seems like is treated differently based on stories over the past year? Women abuse (Reyes, Chapman, Puig, Familia). Neither is ok (I get you're not trying to say that though).

The Rebuilt White Sox
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Nah...you don't worry about where Bregman plays. Just get his bat in the lineup. He has 15+ HR potential (8 in 200 MLB ab's), so he'd be just fine at 3B or even LF. He'd easily be an instant top 4 hitter on our team so I'm sure we could manage to find a spot for him. Or 2B.

Frazier wants to stay, doesn't want Sox to trade Sale
QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) if it meant getting/was the difference between getting a Torres/Fraizer/Rutherford back in a deal then sign me up...Headley's not very good but he's versatile (me trying to talk myself into the idea)??? I'd take him in a salary dump move if he came over with a prospect. Similar idea to what the Braves did quite a few tims the past couple of years.

The Rebuilt White Sox
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) Thing is, we don't know if we would have even had to rebuild if we had a real manager the past few years. Could a real manager have taken this team, which has 4-6 very good players, and won with it? No.

Four year control guys off the table(JQ,Nate,Eaton)
QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) I still do not believe the Chairman is going to allow a rebuild. Sale might be traded, but then we are going to be told that the Sox are in a much better position to compete now with the players Hahn gets in return. I truly believe this is a smoke screen. Yeah I'm not buying a full tear down. I think they deal Sale, Robertson and then a few guys on one year deals and kinda "go for it" this year by signing stop gap types (Rasmus/Gomez) for an OF spot and deal guys in July when we are in 4th place and look to compete in 2018.
