Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) Yeah, gonna have to plead some ignorance here not knowing what we are getting back. But I really like our 2016 draft class, assume I'll like our returns. Much of the rumors are of players in AA/AAA. That could be first year they come up. Our budget would be super low, and could feasibly load up on holes in 2019 with a much deeper team. But, obviously risky. If we get really bad returns and only 3-4 starters let alone stars then this is a decade lost. What is it if we hold onto everyone until they leave via free agency finishing middle of the pack every year?

Destinations for Adam Eaton
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) I don't really buy this idea we need to keep some of our good players. I think every move that we make should be about creating a serious competitive window from 2019/2020 to 2024. Eaton can fit into a portion of that window, but he'll also be a 30 to 31 year old speed-based player by that time. Meanwhile, we'll have wasted anywhere from $60M to $120M of his surplus value during our rebuilding process. I still think there are packages out there for Eaton that will provide more value during that competive window than keeping him provides. IMO, if we get that type of offer, we should definitely take it no matter how good Eaton is today. There should be no urgency to move him though. They can deal him next offseason or the following one as well.

There may be enough teams with enough talent to trade for one of Sale, Eaton, Quintana and Jones but that doesn't mean teams are willing to pay it. I think that's what everyone needs to understand here. The Sox also shouldn't accept less just to make a move.

Braves among teams showing interest in chris sale
I wish we could fast forward a month and see what kind of moves (if any) have happened.

Destinations for Adam Eaton
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 07:18 AM) Adam Eaton is a 6WAR player with 5 years of control for $38 million. Over the last season and a half, he has been one of the top 10 position players in baseball. Why would the Sox trade him? If you are trading him why not Rodon? Why not Anderson? Those are guys I would definitely plan on holding onto unless I got a huge haul for Eaton.

Don't think he gets dealt. We'd have to be blown away and not many teams have the bullets to get it done.

Braves among teams showing interest in chris sale
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) Yeah, I don't see Braves as an ideal partner. For me, a package would have to be around Inciarte, Swanson, and Albies, but that's still on the light side. I agree. It's nice to have another team interested though

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 06:53 AM) sources: Braves r among teams showing strong interest in chris sale. they have the pieces to get it done, too. great farm! https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/798505225766178816 You don't need to post everything in 3 different threads. I think the regulars who come here would end up seeing the post in one thread at some point fairly quickly. Especially if there is a thread for it.

Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 09:57 PM) So... serious question... how many of you think this thread will turn into 200+ pages of posts which eventually amount to nothing. It's probably more possible than most think it is.

Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) I feel like Sale gets any prospect in baseball. Sox should identify the one prospect in baseball they want and build from there. Is Urias really the guy? I dunno if that wows me after watching him struggle against the cubs' weak lineup. The guy is 20. Let him develop more. It's impressiveehat he accomplished last year as a 19-year old.

Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) whitesoxdave @barstoolWSD 13s14 seconds ago Rumor on the hot stove is the #Dodgers and #WhiteSox are discussing Sale & Frazier in a package deal to LA for a big prospect return Dodgers make great sense since they could potentially have 3 picks in first 35 in the draft. They can restock their farm a bit.

White Sox focused on Rebuild
QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) Was Turner the guy that the Nationals drafted with the pick they got from Adam Dunn signing with the White Sox? No. Turner came over in the Myers to SD 3 team deal.

White Sox focused on Rebuild
QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) I'm in a very similar situation. I think the dodgers try and acquire someone like frazier and pick up the pick for turner and jansen and likely sign Chapman or another arm via trade. I never really considered this angle. They might be ok dealing for both Sale and Frazier knowing they will have 3 picks in the first 35 picks (assuming they don't give up any. Then they sign Chapman (like you suggested) or Melancon (heck, maybe even trade for Robertson!). Hypothetical question: what would a blockbuster of Sale, Frazier, and Robertson look like with the Dodgers knowing they are getting 3 early draft picks in the next draft and can get a draft pick for Frazier the following year?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) That would be perfectly fine for me. What would you personally do with him? Keep him in CF or move him back to 2B? Not hating on the idea of getting him because I would be thrilled. Just curious what everyone's opinion on where he should play is.

White Sox focused on Rebuild
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) I see where you're coming from. Nothing is guaranteed. Sale's arm could fall off tomorrow for all we know. All I'm saying is that they need to get a "can't miss" player as a part of the return (like a Benintendi or Bregman type), and I don't see anyone the Dodgers could offer that would fit that criteria. So the only difference between those 2 and position players in the Dodgers minors is that they've been good in their small MLB sample sizes? That doesn't really make them "can't miss" or "sure things."

QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) As a Dodgers fan, this sort of trade seems to go against their new organizational philosophy set forth by the new ownership group. Build a strong farm system to feed the Major League team, make trades to fill holes on the ML roster and not "Blockbuster" trades that gut the farm system (so to speak) ...such as this would seem. #shrug As a fan of both teams, if this trade goes down, I can have my cake and eat it too Would it really "gut" their system though?

QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) Like both Urias and De Leon, but Bellinger is the big piece there for me. 30 HR potential with a plus glove at first. Still a lot of swing and miss to his game, but he takes his walks. Left handed power bat too. Maybe Bellinger can develop into our Rizzo.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) What's wrong with Austin Barnes? With Puig you have two years to turn him around and then trade him as well. Not sure we could expect more. Yeah I just edited my post.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) A dodger nut friend of mine said, "I'd hate that deal". I like the first 4 pieces. Edit: Scratch that; I like Barnes too. I guess Puig is fine as a last piece, throw-in guy but I don't see the Dodgers feeling the same way.

QUOTE (GREEDY @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Biggest problem with all of these trades is that the players we are receiving in return A. Are mostly mlb ready and won't allow the Sox to tank for top picks. B. Have only a year or two tops more team control than Sale/Q. What? There's no guarantee they will be stars right away lol they will have their struggles and may never end up being good.
