QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) I think Sale will not be moved. Doubt Red Sox will want Robertson or Cabrera. Would want Shields and Duke. Hopefully Hahn doesn't want Owens or Swihart as both have seen their value decline this season. Lots of rumors in Northeast but Boston sports radio this morning seems to indicate Shields or Hellickson are their targets. Maybe Dombrowski has his poker face going. Yeah a lot of lesser options than giving up a ton for Sale and Quintana.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) I would rather get position prospects for each. The one thing this organization does well is draft arms. Draft the arms. Get other teams' positional talent. Well both deals would bring bats it's just that the Dodgers deal would include Urias and another top arms along with a couple bats.

QUOTE (kevo880 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) I would guess it is their residence from when he played for the Reds. Probably this.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) I'm sure it's nothing, but Frazier's wife just listed a bunch of furniture and decor on social media for sale saying it all "must go". However, it's from a location in KY, so could be a coincidence in timing. If it was from a location in Chicago, I'd buy a possible trade. However, being a location somewhere other than Chicago would make me lean more towards extension than trade. I bet it doesn't mean anything though.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) I think Boston will budge. Either for Sale or Q. It's been way too quiet between those two and makes sense that Texas stuff came out yesterday and included names. I think Texas may be used as leverage. I do think those two land our SPs. Sale to Texas, Q to Boston. Just gut feeling I've had If they deal both (really big if), I'm hoping one to Boston in a deal mostly centered for bats and then the other moved to the Dodgers in a deal centered around arms.
-
I don't think Sale is going to get dealt but a piece of me thinks Boston caves on Monday towards the deadline more. But I see it being a Sale plus Robertson/Duke/Shields/Cabrera type of deal for the package we want (plus maybe a couple more highly regarded A-ballers and Swihart and/or Owens). It would help the Red Sox justify giving up a lot of prospects if they're able to fill another hole as well. I know left field has been a revolving door for them all season.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) The Sox didn't have him for a full season, so they cannot offer the QO. Yeah that's true. I forgot that. My mistake and many apologies.

QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) This team could really be in the running if it had another bat or two. The pitching has been very good for a while now. Shields, Sale, Q and Gonzo have been as good as anyone. Yet we consistently lose 1 run games. 9 of our last 23 games we have scored 0 or 1 run in a game. That is absolutely terrible. Its looking like 10 of 24 right now. In contrast the indians have done it 3 times in their last 36 games. If Abreu was hitting like Abreu of the past 2 seasons, just imagine how much better we'd be. Dude used to smoke the ball over the field and be a doubles machine. This year? He either ks or singles.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) Here you go. This Boston writer suggests Shields for Henry Owens. Sold! (even though I have my doubts about Owens). http://www.boston.com/sports/boston-red-so...e-james-shields All the lefties!

FALSE: Moncada traded to White Sox
Bob Sacamano replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 08:34 AM) I saw a tweet from Peter Gammons saying the White Sox had scouts at every single Red Sox minor league game last night.. I'm sure some sort of dialogue is going on between the Red Sox and White Sox. Well they have interest in Robertson and probably Duke so. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 11:36 PM) No. He can opt-out this offseason and the Sox get nothing in return. I'm not sure anyone will pay him more than the 2 years $44 million he's owed though. False. If a player opts out of a contract, he can be offered a QO (see Alex Gordon). However, Shields will not opt out. And if he did, Sox would be dumb not to offer the QO of around 1/16 mill when the guy rejected 2/44 million lol

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) Again, something is up though Except there isn't
-
Stone is just seeing the tweets from random people probably. And no Moncada was not pulled.
-
Oh no. Stone is buying into it.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) Moncada wasn't pulled, he played the entire game. Check the box score Yeah I mentioned this in the game thread.
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) This was just posted on Twitter....not sure if hoax or not... but someone said Moncada just posted this on his snapchat... Holy f*** if true
-
Game is over and he wasn't taken out for anyone. Probably nothing.
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) Maybe he's just fond of his teammates. Or they traded him for Todd Frazier straight up. Someone tweeted a response saying that the game was over.
-
Think it's more of getting Profar into the lineup personally. I mean look at their infield.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Sale has to bring back at least 1 ML high quality player plus prospects. A package of just prospects, regardless of ranking is a bad deal. For example, as "sexy "as the Red Sox trade is, both young studs are presently learning new positions in AA. Which is probably why if Sale is to be moved, it should happen in the offseason so teams like Texas or Boston will be more likely to part w a ML starter. Worth mentioning Benintendi is learning a new position out of need at the MLB level.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 03:46 PM) I think this means that someone is going to take the bait in the last hours to grab Sale and give a ransom. Sale is the sexiest piece on the market in a really long time and probably the sexiest there will ever be in a really long time. I bet someone takes the bait and gives up more than they know they should. Sale is too great to pass up. A part of me thinks a team gives into the Sox demands. And I hope that team is Boston.

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) Given what the Sox had between Crede and Frazier, and what they currently have in the minors, I disagree. Depends on what they want to do. Rebuilding? Lawrie moves to third, Sanchez and Saladino at second. Can live with that in a rebuild. Contending? No way.

The Possibility of the Curve Ball from the Sox...
Bob Sacamano replied to shipps's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:09 AM) Sox didnt pony up this past offseason. Cant see them going this next one especially with holes as of now not including if they start trading pieces. Going to be bidding war and sox usually dont come out on top of those Honestly if they don't, rebuild and trade everyone. They'll seriously try to tell us they're contending by signing Jason Castro and Carlos Gomez. -

The Possibility of the Curve Ball from the Sox...
Bob Sacamano replied to shipps's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 08:53 AM) Trading off a player or two is just half stepping it. The Sox really need to pick a lane. Either trade away your top chips or push all your chips onto the table for the rest of this year and next. I just don't know who the Sox can realistically expect to add in the offseason that is gonna improve this putrid offense. Reddick I think is realistic. He was looking for a 4- year extension with the A's and they only want him at 3 (why would you not give him 4th year?). However, being on the open market he'll probably get 5 (which I wouldn't be opposed to).
