  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) We have different definitions of ridiculous returns, that's the point. Getting two top ten prospects plus other interesting players would be a very strong trade. But the laundry list of we need Moncada and benintendi and kopach and devers and ...it's just unrealistic. I know it is unrealistic, because if I was the Red Sox, I would not make that trade. I'll take Benintendi, Moncada and Kopech. I will take any other lower prospects in A-ball that they want to include with them. They can keep Devers if it means getting those first 2. To me personally.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Why would you settle for lesser return on a superstar pitcher with his contract? Either you get a ridiculous return, or you don't make a deal. Basically if you make a deal, you have to feel really, really good about the sum of the parts you get being better as a whole than Sale will be going forward. If the goal is to fill multiple holes, you have to feel pretty confident about getting at least two, if not 3 good starters out of this deal, with the chance at having at least one positional star come out of this deal. If not, why are you making the deal? He never said he'd take a lesser return?
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) Yeah, this was what I was getting at. Sale and Q >>> Shark, but if Dombrowski or Friedman want to get Shields/Gonzalez or Jones/Robertson/Duke/Jennings to make themselves feel better about giving up more high ceiling prospects, do it. Yeah I think added this exact thought at some point yesterday afternoon but no one responded. Add Shields and Gonzalez to a Sale/Quintana deal and a team gets a great front of the rotation arm to pair with a possible bounceback in Price and a solid back-end starter under cheap control for a couple years. Plus they have Pomeranz in the middle of the rotation. All of a sudden, their rotation looks a lot better going into the post season/next year.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) Can't compete with virtually the same lineup, this retooling begins with a new staff (Ozzie, AJ, Willie Harris, Cooper?) and hopefully some young imported talent from this deadline Well we also would get 2 more months of Anderson and whoever we sign would hopefully be better than Jackson/Shuck who he'd be replacing in the lineup (not necessarily in center field).
  5. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) RHP Miguel Gonzalez to MIA for RHPs Austin Brice (MIA #11 prospect) and Cody Poteet (MIA's #17 prospect) RHP James Shields and cash to CHC for RHP Duane Underwood (CHC #7 Prospect) and OF Eddy Martinez (CHC #14 prospect) LHP Zach Duke to TEX for RHP Luke Jackson (TEX #20 prospect) and LHP Andrew Faulkner (TEX #22 prospect) RHP David Robertson to WSH for RHP Erick Fedde (MLB #92 prospect), 3B Drew Ward (WSH #12 prospect), C Pedro Severino (WSH #16 prospect), and OF Brian Goodwin RHP Matt Albers to BOS for RHP Pat Light (BOS #14 prospect) 3B Todd Frazier to NYM for OF Brandon Nimmo (NYM #5 prospect), 2B Dilson Herrera, and C Kevin Plawecki OF Melky Cabrera to SF for RHP Tyler Beede (SF #3 prospect) Sounds good to me.
  6. No rumors as of now, but figured he could use his own, thread as interest could pick up. Motivation for this thread is the Nats have checked in on Jose Bautista. So they are looking for outfielders and we know the offense is not untouchable except for Anderson.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) 2014 we traded Jesse Crain Oh yeah. And brought nothing back with that move.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) Can't take that .210 AVG in the 4 hole, aside from what I believe is solid D and elite power, best Sox 3B since Crede Was going to say the same thing. IF they decided to compete next year and held onto Frazier, you'd have to go: Eaton RF/CF Anderson SS Cabrera LF (if not traded) Abreu 1B Outfield bat for RF or CF (Reddick?) Frazier 3B Morneau DH (try to re-sign to a 1 year deal?) Lawrie 2B (if they keep him) Catcher spot
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) No doubt. I don't think Nimmo/Wheeler is too far off but if it is the Sox could offer a reliever (Duke?) with Frazier. Yeah maybe. Will be fun to see what happens.
  10. Did they do anything at the trade deadline 2 years ago? I can't remember. If not, I don't think they will be quiet 3 years in a row the week leading up to the deadline.
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:01 AM) Would Nimmo and Wheeler be too much for Frazier? Probably but I'd at least ask.
  12. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 07:59 AM) With all the names circulating, it's dawning on me that this might be a golden opportunity for the White Sox to rebuild. There seems to be a lot of interest in at least a half a dozen White Sox player. Not only that but it's a sellers market & we are dealing from a position of strength. If we play our cards right, we could set ourselves up for the next decade by tearing down & sacrificing the next few seasons. I just hope management can have this longer term vision and realize that this particular deadline (and probably offseason) set them up really well to rebuild. Would be so frustrating if they see false hope from a small winning streak, etc. If they keep Sale and Quintana, they won't rebuild and will try to compete next year. You have to try if you keep them.
  13. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 07:28 AM) Making no moves is a huge mistake for this organization. Agreed. However I think they only deal one of Shields/Gonzalez inserting Ranaudo into the rotation and Robertson and/or Duke. So 3 trades max. I think they try to retool in the offseason and try to compete in 2017 if they don't get a huge haul for Sale or Quintana.
  14. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 07:25 AM) id be intrigued by a michael conforto return I don't see them giving him up for some reason but you never know. And when Wright comes back next year (doesn't however long that'll be), Frazier can be their 1B.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) It's gotten to that point and will stay there until Sunday, IMO. Minor blip due tomorrow around 9:00pm. QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 04:46 AM) He's right. It's the lack of any new information that is causing us to talk ourselves in circles. Yeah I can't disagree.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:11 PM) I think we can all agree they're not gona give either one away. They don't have to move them. If they had to, maybe I could see the concern. They have the leverage. Exactly. This entire thread is beating a dead horse lol
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) I couldn't imagine what 103 from a pitcher must look like. In HS I turned a pitching machine up to 100 to see what that looked like. Missed the first 3 badly, tipped the fourth, and hit the fifth, but it snapped the aluminum bat I was swinging in half. Off a pitcher, it has to look even quicker. I don't even know those machines could get that high lol
  18. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Is tomorrow Sale's last start in a White Sox uniform? Nope
  19. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:57 PM) Chapman in a 7 run game... wtf Probably hasn't pitched in 3-4 games. What's wrong with getting work?
  20. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:57 PM) The hype in ungodly. Too bad that had such an amazing start and such an easy schedule for the first month an a half or so. If they did not have that going for them, things would be a whole lot tighter in their division. That start was such a huge outlier. Sucks the Cardinals have been without Carpenter, Peralta and Moss for a while. They don't have the kind of depth the Cubs have for those kind of losses.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) I guess the Cubs fans that were outraged they traded for a wife beater are over it once they see triple digits on the gun. Welcome to the world of professional sports where players can do whatever they want with little consequences and people love you because you're good.
  22. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 08:38 PM) He deserves at least a couple more starts IMO. If he could fill a hole at minimal cost left by a Sale or Q trade even going into 2017 that would be huge. More likely a hole left by a Gonzalez or Shields trade in my opinion.
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 08:57 PM) Anyone else see Melky with the troll job there? What did he do?
