  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 21, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) When he was going real good folks griped when he came out after 100 or so pitches. Pitch count means nothing. Sale wants to stay in the game and has said as much. I am not buying pitch counts or meaningless games. They all have the Winter to recoup Agreed.
  2. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 10:52 PM) White Sox have the 12th pick. 0.5 GB of the Rockies for the 11th pick 4.5 GB of the Brewers/Phillies for the 10th/9th picks. 8 of the 11 remaining games are against teams worse than us. I think 12 is where we stay.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 21, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) I think they'll hire an Hispanic that speaks Spanish. Hopefully someone with major league coaching or minor league managing experience to a 3-year deal. Who that is, I don't know and I don't care. I just hope they hire someone who fits in with what they're trying to accomplish over the next couple years, and are willing to fire them after three years if they're not good. Sandy Alomar Jr.
  4. QUOTE (MEANS @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 07:22 AM) Thought this thread was going to be about Robin going to Spring Training next year... My first glance at the title yesterday morning, I thought so too lol
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) Eaton has never struck me as a win at all costs player. But TWTW isn't the problem with this org anyway: Talent is. Ironically, Eaton has a lot of it. And you always try to get rid of him in your posts.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Can't wait for Coach Thome or Rowand for the next 4 years. Most likely. But I'm hoping for Sandy Alomar Jr., Dave Martinez or just giving Renteria a shot.
  7. Going to the championship next week. Guaranteed to win at least $500!
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 09:13 PM) 5 posts in a game thread before this one...must be a new record low around here. Saturday evening, end of the season, no chance at playoffs...yeah.
  9. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 07:48 PM) Right now he is a starter. Who will be replacing him so he can be "depth on our bench?" Sorry. I should have been more clear. The comment was for those arguing between Lawrie and Saladino as the starter.
  10. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) I'm all for finding someone better. Who did you have in mind? What? Your comment makes no sense as a response to my comment lol you make it sound like I want to replace him when I do not. I'm saying it isn't a problem for him to be depth on our bench. Depth is important. Something we should know after the season we've had.
  11. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) Believe it or not, these September games DON'T matter this year. Why wasn't Robin pitching Sale 119 pitches every game earlier this year when we were still in the wild card hunt? He only does it once we're out of contention and his job is on the line. See above. And it doesn't matter if a bullpen guy gives it up. THE SEASON IS OVER. Winning meaningless games gives the ownership the perfect excuse to not sign impact players who have comp picks attached once again now that our pick isn't protected. Meh he has 6 days off between starts (unless they pitch him Wednesday). He'll be fine.
  12. Guys...there's nothing wrong with him in a backup role.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) Exactly. That's why I was so annoyed by the signing. If we were really going for it, we wouldn't be starting a declining 37 year-old SS who doesn't provide anything above average aside from leadership skills. True.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 07:34 AM) http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/30948/chris-sale I'm not sure 11 consecutive starts averaging between 110-115 pitches per outing will look like a good idea in 2017 if he struggles out of the gate. He's literally around the corner from having 3+ months off. He'll be fine. And the Sox have 2 days off next week. He should be in line to make a start Friday meaning he has 6 days off in between starts.
  15. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 05:17 AM) All of our bullpen guys so if someone goes down next year we know the order with which AAA relievers should be recalled. No reason to pitch our starters 110+ pitches in September with the season lost. You're right. They should wrap him in bubble wrap and treat him like a p**** instead.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) Perhaps. But I don't think we see anywhere near as big of a mass fan migration as the Cubs do whenever they do well. That's because its a larger fan base in general.
  17. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) Why do you bring up the Royals so much? I'm honestly curious, since this is a White Sox board, but in nearly every post you make, you're either comparing the White Sox to the Royals or bringing up the Royals in some other way. Why? It's insane lol he always does.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) The only people I'd be happy for if they won it all are the really old people and diehard fans that waited their entire lives for this. The people that go to the games just to party and get drunk can f*** themselves. I'll be rooting for any team that plays them. Yeah the douchey frat boy type of fans can f*** themselves. I have friends that aren't bad to me about it so I don't care if they win for them.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) The only reason the Cubs are a bit different than any other baseball team for me is because I do have a lot of close friends that I'd be super happy for if they do end up winning it all. That said, I'm not rooting for them and I'm not rooting against them, whatever happens...happens. And they're obviously the best team in baseball but they're far from a lock to even get out of the NLDS, this is the baseball post season, it's random as s***. This is all me 100%. I won't sweat it or be pissed if they win.
  20. Assuming they carry 7 relievers next year with one being a long man, Burdi being called up second or third week of the season, and a second lefty, who fills out the other 4 spots? I have Jennings, Jones, Petricka and Putnam with Robertson moved. Unless someone in that group has options remaining that can be in the minors for depth purposes because we severly got bit by not having depth.
  21. QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) Let me ask you all this. Is there, or should there be "Chicago fans," where people are loyal to one team but cheer for the other in the postseason if their team is not there? And, if your wife/girlfriend/family/friends are Cubs fans or have ties to being Cubs fans, how would you approach what is about to happen this October? My approach right now is to just not address it and say they are having a hell of the season. I wish them well but I am not actively cheering for or against them. I really can't see anyone but the Nationals having a legit shot beating the Northsiders in the postseason. Thats how I'm kind of addressing it. Hard to deny they're having a hell of a season.
  22. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 07:55 AM) Since 2011, actually. Well there ya go.
  23. Doesn't seem to be as big a deal as initially made out to be. According to CBA, GMs don't have to disclose injury info when making a trade. They do, however, have to disclose treatments which is what he is suspnded for. My opinion? You wouldn't hear a peep out of the Sox if he had he been pitching good. Edit: plus I'm sure teams' training staffs look at newly acquired players as soon as they get there.
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) With Cleveland winning, that's definitely three signs of the apocalypse. True but that's not what I was getting at haha
  25. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Not a chance. I look forward to President Chelsea welcoming championship Cub teams to the White House for many years to come. If the Cubs won the World Series and Trump won the election, woud he invite Ricketts and the Cubs to the White House?
