QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) Not I. Wasn't a popular opinion but an idea that was floated out

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) In a winter of crazy contracts, this one might have been one of the worst. People on this site wanted to give him 2/$16 million lol

Avila 8th would break up the righties at the end and Jackson 9th breaks up the lefties (Avila, Eaton, Rollins. Yes yes I know that Rollins is a switch hitter).

After that Walking Dead season finale ending, I need this haha

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Charlotte has a very formidable rotation. 1.) Erik Johnson 2.) Miguel Gonzalez 3.) Jacob Turner 4.) Chris Beck 5.) Scott Carroll Fulmer potentially joining too. Looks like some rotations in the NL. Imagine if someone's rotation actually looked like that lol 50-112 wouldn't be unrealistic.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) Did another community mock on Reddit today, the results are going to be posted soon. What's a community mock?

I guess he turned down a minor league deal with Baltimore but declined because he has a better opportunity in Chicago. With that being said, I bet Latos is on a very short leash.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Probably has an opt out in a month or so. Probably. I think they sign Loney next.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) Rays are supposedly releasing Loney and eating 8 mil. https://twitter.com/TBTimes_Rays/status/716657695114313728 Nice. I'd take him over Sands at league minimum.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) I did pick the Giants to win the division. LA in the Play-In Game. Oh sorry only saw last post. Good call. I also should have said good enough to compete but falling short in the division.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 10:24 AM) I'll change D-backs to Dodgers because of Pollock. To be honest, I don't think the Dodgers look that good in my opinion. I pick Giants.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) Again, the Angels and Tribe, two teams with questionable OFs, don't want him. And he played for each last season. And then there's the clubhouse factor. These guys have worked hard all spring, and you dispatch them for a marginal castoff. Well if you bothered to actually read my full post, he'd pretty much be the 6th OF mostly being DH (likely never seeing the OF grass). So idk why you keep hammering in the questionable OF point.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) Michael Bourn got DFA too. That was a weird trade. They took on 2 bad contracts with one full year remaining for a bad contract with 2 years remaining. Just wanted out of bad money quicker. Makes a ton of sense for a rebuilding team with almost no financial commitments.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Well I assumed that's why he's here...he has so little pop that it can't be his bat. His OBP is usually respectable, but probably unsustainable if over-exposed. I don't see much point in the Loneys or Murphys. They aren't that good, they're aging, the worst OFs in baseball (Angels, Tribe) who have seen them recently have passed (re Murphy). Murphy has always been underrated and he can DH and Shuck can still be on the bench. I'd prefer him to Sands and Ishikawa.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) Need someone on the bench who can catch the ball in the outfield. Thus Shuck Agree. I wouldn't mind a bench of catcher, Saladino, Shuck and Garcia (not really a straight platoon though for DH. Garcia can get at bats in the outfield as well). Murphy mostly DHing against righties.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 07:38 AM) Going with Shuck over Murphy is dumb. I'd definitely want Murphy to DH against righties so I'm going to say going with him over Sands is dumb.

Last man on the roster is down to...

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) I highly doubt Melky platoons with anyone. It's pointless to have Sands and Garcia on the roster. Doesn't make any sense. They need a left handed bat really bad. I agree. But not Ishikawa. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) Wouldn't Melky or Garcia just DH? It appears they will have a rotating DH for now. Well yeah. Sands would just take Melky's spot in the lineup. Whether at DH or an outfield spot. It's definitely rotating. -
Guessing they'll give Avi every day at bats with Melky/Sands platoon.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) I wonder who they bench against Rich Hill in order to get Sands' bat into the lineup Probably Melky since he wasn't good against lefties last season. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) It probably was Jeter, but right now baseball doesn't have any stars on the level of the top NFL or NBA guys. Closest right now is probably Trout and Harper. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) If the White Sox were ever going to take a chance on a TJS pitcher, this would be the year to do so with the extra pick at 26. If you can get a 1-1 player at 26, and lose a year of development, you can afford to because you have picks on both sides of it. It reminds me of when Jays has two first round picks a couple years ago at like picks 9 and 11 and they drafted Hoffman, who was recovering from TJ surgery, with 11 since they had the extra pick.

I bet they're putting off announcing the last spot will go to Ishikawa because they are likely working on adding someone else and delaying having to put Ishikawa on 40 until the very end of Spring Training. Just my own theory since it's that time of year where lots of guys move around. How big of a move? No idea. -
Minor league deal is about all I'd do.

How much would you pay to take Panda off of Boston's hands?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) It would take the type of deal that saw the Rangers take back Hamilton. This. If we took the remaining years at say $6 mill over the entirety, then maybe. But probably still no.
