Dylan deserves to go, but Liam is very deserving as well. Dude has lived up the contract thus far.

Grade Offseason Acquisitions at ASB
How about not picking up the Kimbrel option (meaning they wouldn’t have to spend the 11.5 on Pollock) not signing Vince Velazquez or Joe Kelly, offering and/or brining back Rodon, and still signing Cueto? Finding a RF that actually knows how to play RF and is somewhat productive? Not giving Leury a 3 year deal when there wasn’t a market for him? Signing FA’s isn’t the only way to acquire talent. The team won 93 games last season. They are on pace for 79 wins this year. Sorry you’re surprised your thread praising Rick for his offseason isn’t being met with bouquets of roses.

**Water-Cooler Thread (TV stuff)**
Finished it last night, what an awesome show. Didn’t totally get what “the cans” and what Michael was doing, but aside from that, great first season.

Grade Offseason Acquisitions at ASB
This is sad. Who fucking cares? The Sox are supposed to be in the middle of their World Series window and they’ve struggled to stay at .500 and we are nearing the end of July. Why are we grading Rick Hahn for his offseason? How about we grade him on the team he’s build in 2022? What grade do you give that?

If the Sox trade for Juan Soto we have a chance.
I’m sorry, I know it’s “just money” but if you know that in two years he’s an FA and he’s going to cost your franchise AT least 500 million in order to keep his services for the rest of his career, the cost to acquire him shouldn’t be that great. The Nationals are in an absolutely terrible spot and that franchise is a mess and needs a total rebuild. Soto isn’t really “helping” them the next few years. Yes, he had tremendous value to other teams, the White Sox very much included, but because of his earth shattering contract requests, I can’t fully get on board with a team shipping out a incredible trade package as well. The only way the Nats have ant leverage is if other GM’s act foolish, which seems to always take place.

To be clear, we don't think that about EVERYONE. We for sure think it about you, just not everyone. That's an unfair shot, and I won't stand for it.

Shane Riordan sucks and knows nothing
He has a shtick to keep up with. No matter what happens, for guys like @wrathofhahn, once he believes it, NOTHING will change his mind. Logic and facts be damned.

This is an absolute crock of shit. You have zero read on the situation. Zero.

Whitesox @ Twins 6:40PM The Chase to .500 continued
Sox need a large attitude adjustment. They have been playing dead baseball all year.

Nightengale: Sox have clubhouse issues
- Minor Leaguers raise issues with Whitesox application of new housing policy
I guess I can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. Not everything has to be the biggest deal in the world. You can disagree with how things are being handled but also not be as cut and dry and say "THIS IS THE WORST THING IN THE WORLD." I don't think anyone has done that here. Yes, there are bigger issues to be upset about. But who is keeping track of this made up list? You can only think X amount of things are wrong, and when the list fills up, you just will overlook other issues? I just think you're being stubborn for no reason.- Minor Leaguers raise issues with Whitesox application of new housing policy
This sort of opens up pandora's box though. Ok, they're meeting MLB requirements. They're also meeting MLB requirements by fielding a roster of 26 MLB players, but as fans, we expect more than what they are giving us. We expect the organization to do better. Just because a league sets a bare minimum, we shouldn't accept that amount of effort. Value in minor league players has risen SIGNIFICANTLY over the last 10-15 years. A great majority of them don't have value, but the most important ones hold a tremendous amount. And they seemingly haven't adjusted housing situations enough to go in line with that value. And again, I'm not going to fault any fan for wanting a little more than the bare minimum from the team they root for.- Minor Leaguers raise issues with Whitesox application of new housing policy
Haven't read the entire thread so not sure if someone else has mentioned this, but consider for a second that Colson Montgomery, someone playing Kannapolis currently, probably is in the Top 3 most valuable assets the Sox could trade in the entire organization. Cease, Robert and Anderson would be the only ones with possibly more value. And that's with the Sox having one of, if not the worst farm systems in baseball and supposedly a World Series-ready roster. For a team with a good farm system, those players might make up spots 1-2-3 of a most valuable list. Maybe they should be treated just a tad better than they currently are, given how much value they have to the organization?- Dead money on the White Sox
That's pretty incredible, for all the wrong reasons.- 2022 MLB catch all thread
Amazing reply. Bring facts and provide a reply with actual substance, and you bail. I’m SHOCKED that would happen. Shocked!- 2022 MLB catch all thread
I'll try this again with you. We have documented history that in the last 5 years, the Royals held an organizational seminar with players to discuss the negative effects of masturbation and pornography. I don't recall another example of that in professional sports, but anti-masturbation seminars also aren't a hobby of mine, so maybe I missed others that took place. Dayton Moore, President of the Royals, is quote " Very public with his faith, openly sharing his adherence to Christianity, and how it impacts his life." Mike Matheny, current manager of the Royals, was quoted as saying "First, my faith has been clear and open. Every year at spring training I explain to my guys I stand for certain things as a follower of Christ." Now, being a Christian is far from a crime, and good for Dayton Moore and Mike Matheny for being confident in what they believe in. Go nuts. Don't have any issue with that. I do believe however given the importance of their religion to Moore and Mathey, probably the two biggest decision makers in that organization, it's not a random happenstance that their organization would hold a seminar on the detrimental effects of pornography to professional baseball players. According to Pew in 2021: "A large majority of Republicans identify as Christians, substantially higher than the share of Democrats who are Christians. Conversely, Democrats are much more likely than Republicans to be religiously unaffiliated – describing themselves as atheists, agnostics or “nothing in particular” when asked about their religion." Additionally, "Religiously unaffiliated voters make up 38% of Democratic voters. This has roughly doubled since 2008, when this group made up 18% of Democrats. Over this period, the share of Democratic voters who are Christians has declined from 74% to 52%. White Christians continue to make up a large majority of Republican voters. White evangelical Protestants are about a third (32%) of Republican voters, unchanged from 2008. However, the shares who are white non-evangelical Protestants (22% in 2008 vs. 16% today) and white Catholics (18% vs. 15%) have decreased." Link the findings here: Link Here We then jump to the topic at hand, vaccines. According to Brookings in October of 2021, Of Americans surveyed from Sept. 13-22, 72% of adults 18 and older had been vaccinated, including 71% of white Americans, 70% of Black Americans, and 73% of Hispanics. Contrast these converging figures with disparities based on politics: 90% of Democrats had been vaccinated, compared with 68% of Independents and just 58% of Republicans." Link here So...given that the Kansas City Royals have an incredibly high number of players that will now appear on the restricted list because they are unvaccinated, more than any other team thus far this season...Yes, I do believe the organization played a role in or had an influence in player decision making process...something you are very clearly against.- 2022 MLB catch all thread
I’d be able to buy that more if they didn’t have a mandatory meeting set by the President of the team to discuss how masterbation and pornography lead to domestic abuse of women. These aren’t kids, they are adults. Why not let them make their own decisions as adults, why pressure them? Again, you can’t have it both ways.- 2022 MLB catch all thread
Given that 10 out of 26 players didn’t get vaccinated, it really doesn’t seem like the “bullying culture” you suggest had any impact. But that works both ways. Given what I posted earlier with the Royals hosting an insanely weird “anti-pornography” seminar for the entire organization, along with Dayton Moore and Mike Matheny going out of there way to tell the world how important their faith is, there seems to be a trend with how the Royals conduct their business and what they believe in. Given that thus far the Royals have far and away the most players on a single team that have to go on the restricted list…it’s not a very far leap to take that the organization has pushed their views on their players.- 2022 MLB catch all thread
More amazed by how trash the Royals organization continues to be. https://www.christianpost.com/news/kansas-city-royals-first-mlb-team-host-anti-porn-seminar-players-coaches.html- Fire Tony Chant
This is supposed to be in the heart of the Sox World Series window. Instead it's a below .500, drama-filled disaster. Just don't find the humor in any of this. It's all just such a wasted opportunity. It was all right there for the taking. I've said it before and I'm sure it will be said again. I just can't fathom how these billion-dollar businesses are run so poorly. Boggles the mind.- 2022 MLB catch all thread
This is bad for the game- 7/12 GT Gm 1 @NoonCT: Sox play 2 today, if you care
It doesn't matter though. It's an organizational failure. Hahn isn't an indentured servant. If he's powerless, he can choose to leave. And if he's as smart as some think, he'll land on his feet. If you make the decision to stay, it's on him, just like it's on Kenny, Tony, Jerry, etc. - Minor Leaguers raise issues with Whitesox application of new housing policy
