A Realistic Offseason
Edinson Volquez would be a great signing. I think he still has a lot left in the tank.

A Realistic Offseason
I do think Joc is a solid fit as well, but the Sox might be better off signing a 1 year stopgap like Calhoun for 2020 and then just sign Pederson in the 2020 offseason without giving up any prospects. Trading for a rental doesn't make much sense at this point.

A Realistic Offseason
a $153,670,000 payroll would have only been the 13th highest payroll in baseball last year. The fact that so many on here think that a plan like this is completely unrealistic just goes to show how low our expectations have become. It's quite sad.

A Realistic Offseason
I don't think anyone is actually expecting the Sox to sign Cole, but it's fun to dream.

I still think trying to extend Moncada and Giolito should be one of the main priorities this offseason

Not signing the best pitcher on the planet because it “might be risky” in several years is a losing mentality

Kyle Schwarber?
You and several others have suggested taking on part of Heyward's contract in order to get Schwarber. It doesn't make any sense to use the payroll flexibility the Sox have created on two mediocre players. They would be upgrades over who the Sox have at those spots now, but it still isn't a deal worth making.

Kyle Schwarber?
The Sox fans who are infatuated with Schwarber are the same ones who are begging to take on Heyward's contract. It makes no sense.

Projected white sox arbitration salaries 2020
You guys act like Rodon is a bum. He isn’t. He just can’t stay healthy. When he’s on the mound, he’s definitely good enough to be in the rotation.

JDM staying in Boston
Pitching wins championships. While each of the 5 guys you listed have huge upside, none of them have proven anything. Not to mention that there are various injury concerns associated with all of them. The Sox need to get 2 quality starting pitchers this offseason. If they end up having 6 or 7 quality MLB starting pitchers by midseason, that is a fantastic problem to have.

JDM staying in Boston
Helping the Cubs aspect of it aside, there isn’t a chance in hell I would use the financial flexibility the Sox have created on Jason Heyward, even if the Cubs paid part of his contract. He’s just not that good, even if the Cubs would include Schwarber with him

Steve Stone not returning to the booth next season???
Maybe I’m just reading this wrong, but doesn’t it sound like his future with the Sox is up in the air based on this tweet?

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Glad to know I’m not the only one who took each and every game super seriously as a kid. I lived and died with literally every game, even when the Sox were already out of contention

Yeah I want nothing to do with Odorizzi. Give me Wheeler and Keuchel.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
I love Stone as an announcer, but of course he would come to Jerry’s defense. These days, he’s pretty much a mouthpiece for what the Sox want people to hear

^^^my head would literally explode if that happened

A Realistic Offseason
Wheeler and Keuchel as the 2 SP additions this offseason would be nice. 1. Giolito 2. Wheeler 3. Keuchel 4. Cease 5. Lopez with Kopech and Rodon in the wings.

2020 Coaching Changes
Now that you mention it, why has Vizquel not been working with Anderson on his defense this whole time?

Predict the 1st Free Agent Signed
Abreu, Wheeler, JDM, and then a trade for Nimmo. In that order.

White Sox part ways w/ Todd Steverson & Greg Sparks, name Frank Menechino as new Hitting Coach
Wish Cooper was gone. He’s way past his prime.

Rangers might trade lefthanded hitter/outfielder
If the Rangers would trade Gallo for a package based around Cease, would you do it?

Potential under the radar free agents
I’ve been on the Alex Wood train for awhile. He’s left handed and coming off a bad year so the Sox could possibly get him on an inventive heavy 1 or 2 year deal. He could start the season in the rotation and then shift to the bullpen once Kopech and Rodon are ready, or maybe even stay in the rotation if he pitches well enough. He had a solid 2018 before getting hurt this year. He makes a lot of sense for this team as the second SP addition behind a guy like Wheeler.
