  1. Unless it was a salary dump type of deal, the Sox would probably be better off just signing Grandal than having to trade prospects for JD
  2. Time to sign Gerrit Cole’s family and friends!
  3. I'm fairly concerned that Martinez won't opt-out, as his market is very limited.
  4. I say the Sox should give Abreu a 2 year deal for $15M-$17M per this offseason. Given that he has publicly stated that he wants to stay with the Sox, he would probably take that offer. Vaughn won't be in the bigs in 2020 most likely and probably not in the beginning of 2021 either, so bringing Abreu back for a couple years buys some time for Vaughn and allows the Sox to not rush him. After 2021, I want the Sox to take it 1 year at a time with Abreu because who knows what his performance will be like by then. What the Sox should do with Jose moving forward also depends on if they spend significantly on a DH like Martinez.
  5. Reading the past couple pages of this thread gave me a migraine. Thanks a lot guys.
  6. LOL I can't wait for that to blow up in their face.
  7. 160 million for Ozuna would be disgustingly bad
  8. Edinson Volquez would be a great signing. I think he still has a lot left in the tank.
  9. I do think Joc is a solid fit as well, but the Sox might be better off signing a 1 year stopgap like Calhoun for 2020 and then just sign Pederson in the 2020 offseason without giving up any prospects. Trading for a rental doesn't make much sense at this point.
  10. a $153,670,000 payroll would have only been the 13th highest payroll in baseball last year. The fact that so many on here think that a plan like this is completely unrealistic just goes to show how low our expectations have become. It's quite sad.
  11. I don't think anyone is actually expecting the Sox to sign Cole, but it's fun to dream.
  12. I still think trying to extend Moncada and Giolito should be one of the main priorities this offseason
  13. Not signing the best pitcher on the planet because it “might be risky” in several years is a losing mentality
  14. You and several others have suggested taking on part of Heyward's contract in order to get Schwarber. It doesn't make any sense to use the payroll flexibility the Sox have created on two mediocre players. They would be upgrades over who the Sox have at those spots now, but it still isn't a deal worth making.
  15. The Sox fans who are infatuated with Schwarber are the same ones who are begging to take on Heyward's contract. It makes no sense.
  16. You guys act like Rodon is a bum. He isn’t. He just can’t stay healthy. When he’s on the mound, he’s definitely good enough to be in the rotation.
  17. Pitching wins championships. While each of the 5 guys you listed have huge upside, none of them have proven anything. Not to mention that there are various injury concerns associated with all of them. The Sox need to get 2 quality starting pitchers this offseason. If they end up having 6 or 7 quality MLB starting pitchers by midseason, that is a fantastic problem to have.
  18. Helping the Cubs aspect of it aside, there isn’t a chance in hell I would use the financial flexibility the Sox have created on Jason Heyward, even if the Cubs paid part of his contract. He’s just not that good, even if the Cubs would include Schwarber with him
  19. Maybe I’m just reading this wrong, but doesn’t it sound like his future with the Sox is up in the air based on this tweet?
  20. Felix Hernandez
  21. Glad to know I’m not the only one who took each and every game super seriously as a kid. I lived and died with literally every game, even when the Sox were already out of contention
  22. Yeah I want nothing to do with Odorizzi. Give me Wheeler and Keuchel.
