  1. Sale's current contract runs through 2019 with team option years for 2018 and 2019. Barring something catastrophic, those options will surely be picked up. However, after that, he is a free agent. My question is if you guys think that the Sox would pay him $200 million or whatever he'd want or if he'd leave and go elsewhere? It's a tough question, I know, but I'm just wondering what the Sox would do in that situation. I was thinking about it earlier today, and I was interested in knowing what you guys would think.
  2. I'm guessing KC will win 10-3.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) I really want to see Sale face our offense now (not on another team, just hypothetically), I wonder how he would do. I'm guessing that he's throw a complete game shutout with 16 or 17 K's. Especially if guys like Leury, Brantly, LaRoche, etc played.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) At the rate he is going, I think he finishes the year. He has shown no signs of slowing down. That's actually a really good point. I think that he has gotten way better as the season has gone on. He's cut down on the walks and the hits, plus he's lowered his ERA. Hypothetically, if Sale was at like 295 or 296 K's on the last day of the season, would you bring him out of the bullpen to try to get to 300? There's reasons for both sides, but I'd say yes.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 07:35 AM) This looks more like a prediction of how Keith will vote rather than a prediction of how the overall voting will turn out. Either way, it's nice to know that Sale will have at least one first place vote.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) Well that is about all that is left to entertain you when your (real) team sucks balls. This lol. I have Sale in one of my leagues too.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) With Johnson joining the rotation, this now looks very, very unlikely. Keep in mind that Rodon will be shut down at some point.
  8. He is up to 239 with 6 starts left (according to my math) He could do it.
  9. At least Sale didn't get the loss and his ERA only rose .09 points. I'll take that against the Twins.
  10. Let's score 2 more so Sale can get the win!
  11. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 07:48 PM) Meh Sale doesn't deserve the CY with how many dud games he has had this year. It's one thing to lose games and give up few runs it's another when you get shelled for 6-9 runs which has happened to him a few times. That's what he needs to work on in the offseason. He just can't become angry when things don't go his way, because when he does, he wets the bed. He just needs to limit the damage when he faces adversity and he'll be fine.
  12. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) That slim, outside chance of Sale winning the Cy Young, I think, is gone. Even if he hits 300 Ks. Odds were overwhelming that Keuchel would've won it anyway, even if Sale had gotten to a 3 ERA or something close to that. There's always next year. He just has to avoid starts like these and he'll win a Cy Young eventually.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) Sale doesn't really pitch well in big games, it seems. He's letting Minnesota get to him with being crossed up, throwing some fastballs WAY off location I'd be interested to know how he'd fare in a pennant race This is not a big game. The Sox are done.
  14. What is with Sale and Minnesota? He blows against them.
  15. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see Thompson as anything special. I mean look at Saladino. He was scorching hot when he got called up, similar to how Thompson is doing now. Since then, Saladino has pretty much fallen off the face of the Earth. I don't think Thompson will be any different. At some point, the pitchers will adjust to him and find weaknesses in his swing.
  16. Let's hope that Sale gets the W today and lowers his ERA to 3.10 ish. Go Sox!!!
  17. I feel like dumping a guy like Robertson would waive the white flag for this organization for the next 2-3 years at the very least, and I'm not sure KW and Hahn would want to give that given that Sale, Abreu, and Q are in their primes while Rodon, Fulmer, Anderson, etc will be entering their primes relatively soon.
  18. Hopefully he takes Guppies starts from now on.
  19. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 12:46 AM) Sanchez is a f***ing bum with the bat Come on man. One bat at-bat wipes away everything he's done for the past month or two? He's been hitting pretty well lately.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 11:48 PM) Melky is really a bad baseball player any way u slice it. He's another guy who should be a utility player. Sox roster is full of those guys. Danks is nothing more than a bullpen arm at this point.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Who do you recommend play third? Beckham or Garcia? Seriously there's no one else. I have two words for you: Conor Gillaspie
  22. I just got mentioned on TV, pretty cool.
  23. It's becoming increasingly likely that Samardzija would accept a Qualifying Offer if the Sox offered one. He has to bet on himself to be better next year, since no one will want him after this wreck of a season.
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 07:29 PM) Just turned game on. Shark still sucking? Yep. .....
