I really can’t tell if his absence and subsequently opting out is due to the virus or for other reasons. Hopefully he’ll be back in 2021 either way.

To be honest this isn’t the worst thing in the world. The Sox will get another year of service time out of him and I don’t know how much of a factor he would’ve been this season anyway.

For those who said Yermin can’t play third:

I could be wrong but I don’t think Kopech will get service time this year if he’s away from the team.

Andrew Vaughn is getting reps at 3rd base so that’s probably not good news regarding Moncada potentially having COVID.

I don’t know whether or not to believe what he says, but still...

Moncada has to have it based on context clues. But I think Kopech’s issues are unrelated to the virus.

Why are we even giving this guy the time of day? He turns literally anything into the worst case scenario without any facts to back it up. He’s the same guy who was 100% certain that Tim Anderson tore his ACL when he got injured in Boston last year.

What’s the deal with Kopech? Does anyone know?

Seems to me that Cody Decker is jealous that his career never amounted to anything while Grandal just got a massive payday.

The Sox would be better off carrying a guy like James Beard who can wreck havoc on the bases if nothing else than having a bum like Detwiler on the team.

If guys like Madrigal and Kopech only have to be in the “minors” for 10 days to get the extra year of control, then I’d absolutely keep them down for a bit. The Sox can survive with Leury at 2nd base for a week and a half and Kopech might not be needed right away.

Not to be a downer, but is anyone else concerned that the season might be postponed again once games start if a number of players/coaches end up getting sick?

I just don’t know how they would be able to do it from a logistical standpoint. They could obviously spread people out in terms of where they sit, but what about the big groups of people congregating when the gates open? Or when everyone leaves after the game?

2nd half of 2023? Where did you come up with that arbitrary date?

Why would the Sox trade a promising young pitcher for a guy they could have drafted but passed on? There’s probably a reason why they didn’t pick him.

Of course this would happen the one year the Sox might have actually been good.

I mean chances are that none of these guys will ever amount to anything, but it’s frustrating to me in the sense that there has to be young talent out there that is worthy of being signed, and yet the Sox are doing nothing.

Not a single damn signing by the Sox today. So frustrating.

Sox haven’t even signed a single guy yet, while some other teams already have 4 or 5 signings. It’s not looking good.

Sadly I don’t see the Sox getting that many free agents in this set up. Most likely guys will either go to rebuilding teams where they have a better chance of moving through the system or the big name teams like the Yankees or Red Sox.
