  1. You should of applied for the job. Who knows, you might have been hired. I wrote JR a letter a few years ago hoping to be interviewed for the GM job. He never responded to me. Matter of fact, he has not responded to any of my letters since then.
  2. I was told this weeks ago before the South Loop announcement.
  3. I'm told by somebody close to the situation that JR wants a new stadium. He does not want to continue at the present stadium when the lease runs out.
  4. The owners of the Rays are spending $600 million dollars on the new stadium in St. Pete. The owners of the Vegas A's are spending millions of dollars on the new stadium in Vegas. I'm assuming that they will be part owners of their stadiums. I would assume that JR will become part owner of the new stadium.
  5. The owners of the Tampa Bay rays are paying over $600 million dollars towards their new stadium. The owners of the Oakland/Las Vegas A's are paying millions of dollars towards their new park in Vegas. I would assume in both of those cases the team would own part of the stadium. I would think that same situation would occur with the new White Sox stadium. JR would have to give some money towards it and I'm sure he would want part ownership of the stadium. I'm hoping this new stadium gets built in the South Loop and I'm also hoping JR stays out of stadium design business. He was the one who changed the design of the present park. He wanted another level of suites which gave us that upper deck that everybody has hated. If he insists on another stadium with a upper deck that nobody wants to sit in he should get a kick in his rear end.
  6. If all they could get was a new stadium right at the present location I'm surprised that the owners of the Rays didn't move the team. I thought they would move to Orlando or Nashville.
  7. I was surprised when the Rays owners agreed to a new stadium right by the present one in St. Pete. They also agreed to pay $600 million dollars towards the new stadium. The Oakland/Las Vegas A's agreed to pay millions towards the new stadium in Vegas. I would guess that JR would pay for part of the new stadium. That would make most people happy and get the new stadium off the ground.
  8. 1) In 1967 former White Sox owner Art Allyn wanted to build a new stadium at this South Loop location. Allyn was going to pay for the stadium himself. The Mayor of Chicago wouldn't give him the permits to build it. 2) This same site was offered by the City of Chicago in the 1980s to JR. JR declined the offer because he wanted to build a new stadium in Addison where he owned the land. 3) I'm assuming that this is were the new stadium will be built. I hope the details get worked out sooner rather than later. I think its great news.
  9. Fox is the only one put out by the White Sox. His was a special bobblehead for season ticket holders years ago.
  10. 1) I was with a group of fans at the last home game in 1990. Everybody looked at the new stadium across the street and said , if that upper deck is as high as it looks who's going to want to sit up there? 2) I share your dislike of JR but one thing i have to say about him is he's very good at making money. I have no doubt that he has made more money owning the team than any of the other White Sox owners.
  11. I was hoping to have some bobbleheads of former White Sox players like Luke Appling. I think a Joe Jackson bobblehead giveaway would be a tremendous success.
  12. 1) The lower level at the new White Sox stadium is great. The upper deck is horrible. Its 2 different ballparks. JR ruined the stadium because he wanted the 2nd level of suites. The original design didn't have the 2nd level of suites. 2) Lipman, you're a broadcaster. I'm not familar with your work but the team needs a new TV announcer. Have you considered applying for the job? What do you have to lose by applying for the job? Who knows, you might luck out and get the job. I thought Hahn was going to get fired a few years ago and I wrote JR a letter requesting to be interviewed for GM job. JR never responded to me. Matter of fact he has never responded to any of my letters after that. He always responded to me in the past but not anymore.
  13. With the pitching that you mentioned I don't see why they can't contend. I'm expecting big years offensively from Robert Jr, Eloy, Vaughn, Benitendi and even Moncada. I'm hoping that Montgomery is the Opening Day shortstop. If everything clicks it should be an exciting year.
  14. The ideal situation would be to sign Bellinger to a long term contract. It would make the team better and be a good PR move. Then sign Chapman after that.
  15. Santo shouldn't be in the HOF. When he retired after his last awful season with the White Sox, did anybody seriously think he would be in the HOF. The only positive thing about his HOF induction was he didn't live to see it.
  16. I read where the Orioles signed a new lease but it is not binding. If somebody wants to explain that I would like to hear the explanation of that.
  17. I was told earlier this year that JR has business interests in Nashville. And making a good guess those interests are real estate. He owned the land when he wanted the stadium in Addison. He also owned the land in Tucson when he moved the team there for spring training. It could happen that a new stadium could be built on land he owns in Nashville. I just hope that if he moves the team to Nashville he tells us sooner rather than later so most of us would stop going to the games in Chicago.
  18. Benetti signed a 2 year contract. He wanted out of the 2nd year. The White Sox said so be it. He's gone. It was his choice to go. I wish him the best. I'm more interested to see what the White Sox do about their TV contract. Their present local TV contract expires after the 2024 season.
  19. Good signing. Things are starting to get better!!!!
  20. I read the other day that the Bulls attendance is starting to go bad. Bulls fans are finally tired of paying big money to see a losing team.
  21. I don't think moving the team is a realistic option. I thought for sure that the Rays would be the one team moving. I don't anybody thought they would agree to build a new stadium at their present location. The Orioles won over 100 games last year and the owner of the Orioles has already said he won't be able to afford his players in a few years. There are worse situations in MLB than what the White Sox are going thru.
  22. When they traded Burger they said they had too many DHs. If they trade Eloy they won't have anybody to DH. They also won't have anybody batting behind Robert Jr. Robert Jr will be pitched around with nobody batting behind him protecting him.
  23. I'm afraid that Cease and Eloy are going to be traded and the White Sox get very little in return. If that's the case I think its better to keep them.
  24. Bruce Levine has said the White Sox are going to trade for pitching and defense this off season. If that's true why trade Cease the teams best pitcher? Getz should approach Cease and try to extend him and go on from there.
  25. I've read a number of times that Cease would be willing to sign a long term contract with the White Sox. Why not just sign him?
