The White Sox scored 3 or less runs in more than half of their games in 2023. Why trade Eloy when he's one of their best hitters? It wouldn't surprise me if he hit 40 home runs next year.
-
I agree with you. If you trade Eloy who is going to bat behind Robert Jr? If you don't have a decent bat behind Robert Jr the opposing teams will pitch around him.

Win or lose I renew my tickets every year. I love the team, love where I sit, like parking in the parking lot and I like the food at the stadium. Looking forward to Opening Day and a much better season of baseball.

They had one of these in the 1990s at the ballpark. I believe it was after the strike. I looked it up. They called it Winter Warm Up at the ballpark. It was held February 11+ 12, 1995. It was a mini Soxfest.I still have the program from it. It was a good time. I hope they have it again.

Some people think that Cease won't bring that much in return. If that's true why not simply keep him on the team and resign him? Cease indicated last year that he would be willing to sign an extension with the White Sox. Maybe I'm missing something here but if Cease is traded who's going to be the Opening Day starter, Kopech? It would be a good PR move if Cease was given an extension.

Do you remember when Frank Lane traded Rocky Colavito for Harvey Kuenn? It almost destroyed the Cleveland franchise. Lane also wanted to traded Stan Musial when he was with the Cardinals. The Cardinals owner overruled Lane and Lane then left the Cardinals, Lane had success with the White Sox and little success with the other teams he ran.

Getz has said the team has to become more athletic. Isn't Robert Jr the only athletic person on the team?
-
Trading Luis Robert Jr would be the greatest PR disaster the team has had since the White Flag trade.

I think Its too much money for a manager. Especially one who has never won a pennant or a World Series.
-
Other than I hope the Cubs lose every game I simply have no interest in what they do. I haven't been to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field since 2002. I could have gone to the 5th game of the 2016 World Series for nothing, I took a pass. You keep mentioning Eddie Einhorn in your posts. He was the one who wanted to move the team to Florida. When that didn't happen he sold most of his White Sox stock to JR and left the scene.

I really don't care what the Cubs do. I do think its crazy to give a manger $40 million dollars.

Grifol must not have wanted Anderson on the team. If Grifol had wanted Anderson they would have picked up his option.

I've always believed that a man must be in love with his work, his wife and the White Sox for total happiness. -
White Sox on this Day - Things to be Grateful For.

I'm grateful I'm a White Sox fan. What more could anybody want in life? -
Cleveland recently extended their lease at the present stadium. They are spending some serious money on the present stadium this off season. Their upper deck is being torn down entirely in right field. Nobody wants to sit up there. I can't help but wonder if the White Sox extend the lease on their stadium if the stadium gets redone. If Cleveland can knock down their upper deck I wonder if the upper deck at the White Sox stadium will be knocked down also. The present upper deck has been hated since the stadium opened. Nobody wants to sit up there.

They had a Soxfest a few months after the White Flag Trade. White Sox GM Ron Schueler didn't show up. Maybe they just don't want to hold another Soxfest in the future.

If JR had moved the White Sox to Florida he would have sold the team years ago. The Rays have already had 4 ownerships. I'm surprised that the present Rays ownership agreed to a new stadium in the same location. That tells me that no other city would build the Rays a new stadium.
-
It doesn't make any sense to build the new stadium at the same location. Perhaps no other city (Tampa, Orlando, Montreal and Nashville) would build the Rays a stadium.
-
The team lost 101 games and was difficult to watch. Is anybody surprised at the low TV ratings? In my opinion there are worse situations. The Tampa Bay Rays won more games than the White Sox and the White Sox had better attendance. The Rays played the Rangers today in the playoffs and had thousands of empty seats. They only sold over 19,000 tickets for the playoff game today. I think alot of people were surprised when the Rays announced that their new stadium is going to be in the same location as the present one.

The Orioles just extended their lease at their stadium in Baltimore for another 30 years. I'm hoping JR extends the lease at the White Sox stadium. I don't see any other viable alternative here in Chicago. I was told that JR has business interests in Nashville. I'm assuming the business is real estate. If he gets a good offer for a new stadium in Nashville I wouldn't be surprised if he took it.

If what you say is true the UC is not a possible site for a new baseball stadium. This leaves the following stadium possibilities: 1) Soldier Field. 2) Arlington Heights. 3) Stay at the present location. 4) Some other location in the Chicagoland area. 5) Some out of state location. Looking at these 5 possibilities, I'm starting to worry about them moving out of state.

I don't doubt the 20% number at all. There are thousands of people taking the CTA red line every game. Between the Cta and the Metra there are a ton of people taking public transportation to the games.
-
I can't see the White Sox moving to the suburbs. 20% of White Sox attendance comes via public transportation. Most suburbs have no or little public transportation.
