“The 78” is Dead Part XIV, Viva La Canal's Edge!
Finally some good news in regards to a new White Sox stadium. Looks like the new Bears stadium situation should be finalized soon. Also, I read where the owners of the Tampa Bay Rays want the taxpayers to contribute over $1Billion dollars towards a new Rays stadium in Tampa. The owners said they have to know by this coming April 1, 2026. Wonder what happens if the money is not approved . Will they move the franchise?

“The 78” is Dead Part XIV, Viva La Canal's Edge!
The Chicago Fire broke ground on their new stadium at the 78 in the South Loop yesterday. It has been too quiet about a new White Sox stadium at that site. If the White Sox have any intentions of building there I wish they would announce something.

People have short memories. The person who said that George Halas would turn over in his grave if the Bears move to Indiana is full of crap. Halas was one of the cheapest owners in the NFL and sports. He would have taken the best deal offered to him.

The stadium is 2 different ballparks. The lower deck is great. The upper deck is horrendous. I've been a season ticket holder for over 30 years. I wouldn't sit in the upper deck for nothing.

Is there any public transportation/Metra near the Tinley Park site?

The only suburb that I can think of who would build a new stadium for the White Sox would be Rosemont. I don't know if White Sox fans would drive to that northwest suburb.

I heard that if the stadium is built in Arlington Heights the value of the Bears franchise will double.

I talked to a couple of the workers who were knocking Comiskey Park down. They claimed it was in such bad shape that it could have possibly collapsed in a few more years.

Where do you think is a better place for a stadium than the 78?

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
The more I look at this roster the more I'm convinced that 2026 is going to be a great season for the White Sox!!!!

I read where the owners of the Arlington Heights racetrack paid $3 million a year in property taxes. I read where the Bears are now paying $16 million a year in property taxes at that site now. Its now being said that if the Bears build their stadium in Arlington Heights the property taxes will be anywhere between $100 and $200 million dollars yearly. How is that possible?

Somebody told me the Bears would pay $50 million dollars a year on the lease in Indiana for 35 years. That would still be alot cheaper than building a stadium in Arlington Heights. They would pay no property taxes in Indiana and anywhere from $100 to $200 million dollars a year in property taxes in Arlington Heights. Unless something changes it looks to me like Indiana will get the Bears. They're not going to pay those high property taxes in Illinois.

Sox get an off season "C"
I think it has to be rated higher than a C Like I've said before, The White Sox Are Coming, Tra La, Tra La!!!!

Soxfest back for 2025
I try not to be negative on this site. Some people on this site thrive on negativity, but still I went to Soxfest last night and I can't help it because I thought it was terrible. Other than the seminar with Getz and the manager it was a night of comedy skits. Brooke Fletcher is very likeable but hosting that first comedy skit was awful. I can't comprehend why they went to this new format. The last Soxfest before Covid was at Mccormick Place and the event had thousands of fans. I can't believe they were losing money there or at the hotels when Soxfest was there. The place was jam packed last night and having people stand for hours was lousy and I think dangerous. Perhaps ownership just doesn't want to be bothered with having Soxfest at a bigger venue.

2026 promotions
I was hoping for some bobbleheads from White Sox players of the past like Luke Appling, Ted Lyons AND Joe Jackson.

Austin Hays
Good signing. I can't help it but I have to say again. The White Sox Are Coming, Tra La, Tra La!!!!

Team Breakout Article
If everything works out I'm expecting 85 wins for the White Sox in 2026!!!!

White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
I thought Getz would make another trade or free agent signing before Soxfest. It doesn't look like that is going to happen. I also thought the promotional schedule would be released by now.

Most people in Indiana will be very happy if the Bears stadium is built in Indiana. Putting a Super Bowl and NCAA Final 4 tournament in Indiana will bring in over 1.3 billion dollars into the local economy.

Former Illinois Governor Jim Thompson will turn over in his grave if the Bears move to Indiana.

“The 78” is Dead Part XIV, Viva La Canal's Edge!
I can't imagine the Bears paying $200 million dollars in property taxes in Illinois where they would pay no property taxes in Indiana. The Bears would lease the Indiana stadium for 35 years. I was told by somebody that the lease is $51 million dollars yearly for 35 years. Unless Illinois does something about lowering the property taxes the Bears will go to Indiana.
