  1. Yeah the results of that should be very interesting. I'm sure the pitchers will absolutely hate it.
  2. It may be the Atlantic League, it seems to be the MLB petri dish for trying wild stuff.
  3. Maldonado, Mieses, Delgado, & Comas all with hits in their debuts for GF.
  4. So what? There still are people who believe the Earth is flat. They can make an argument for it all they want, but regardless they're still wrong.
  5. I'm noticing a common theme here...
  6. Yeah 100%, I could get behind that plan for next season.
  7. It's meaningful, just not as meaningful as it used to be (and rightfully so) since the baseball community has evolved and learned of better and more efficient ways to evaluate pitchers. It's not that hard, you may not like it but it's much better this way IMO.
  8. Where am I wrong? Jacob DeGrom was a very pedestrian 10-9 last season. Evaluating him based on W/L record would indicate that he had a mediocre season (which we all know couldn't be further from the truth).
  9. Wins are important to the team as a whole and probably mean a lot to each pitcher because they want to have a W next to their name, but evaluating pitchers based on a W/L record is ridiculous.
  10. This year I believe they completely closed their upper level, but they do offer like $5 tix for certain games to get people to come out.
  11. http://www.milb.com/documents/9/7/0/308065970/2019_Voyagers_Official_Roster.pdf Some notable players here: The three HS picks last year (Delgado, Maldonado, & Weaver) + Abbott, Luis Mieses, Anderson Comas, Kleyder Sanchez. Brayan Herrera, and several of the pitchers drafted this year.
  12. I imagine he'll be bumped up after the minor league All Star Break which should be next week.
  13. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
  14. Although he's an UDFA, here's a new signing. We finally tanked for Beer!
  15. You and I both know those are the two higher paid sunk costs that they parted ways with, which I said in the original post that some (not all) were "highly paid". Besides, I would find it very plausible that there are big egos in the FO considering some are ex-players and I'm sure some others that weren't players have their share of big-headedness. Most normal people don't want to be embarrassed so I don't think it'd be any different for them honestly. They tried something and it didn't work out. It sucks but it happens. But since you asked me to name some, I went back to 2013-14ish to find a few: Latos, Rollins, Navarro (trade), Holland, Bonafacio, (include Bruce Rondon, Jacob Turner, Volstad, Big Pelf, Ervin, etc., if you're feeling dangerous). Now quite obviously, some names & money spent here is more significant than others, but the point remains. They aren't afraid to cut bait on the incredibly putrid performances by sunk costs, which is what I said. By DFAing/releasing Alonso before his option vests, they'll actually be saving themselves more money in the future, so I'd think that would be more in their interests instead of being stubborn about a gamble that didn't pay off and paying him the same next year to prove some ill-advised point.
  16. You keep pushing this out there when they've admitted mistakes in the past and DFA'd several veterans (some highly paid) that were severely underperforming. This is a tired argument man. Yes, they probably want to give him opportunities to try and get out of it so they can attempt to trade him for a bag of balls or a washing machine, but don't act like they're too scared to cut bait with certain sunk costs.
  17. They also got Cimber in the deal as well, but that could've just been a sweetener. I'd be all for a 2 for 1 package if it netted us a prospect of that caliber.
  18. According to RR, unfortunately it's not.
  19. FWIW, On the broadcast last night they kept pounding it home on how his mom really wanted him to go to school and he had no plans to do anything otherwise.
