That tracks, I remember speaking with someone that cracked AAA with the Sox (in the 80s I believe), and their coaching for him on his changeup was to "throw it slower".
Last year he played 14 games against dudes (on average) 4+ years older than him in his first full season and admittedthat he was just gassed by then end. He's nearly doubled the games played there this season (31), still 2.5 years younger and coming off an injury. We'll see how he handles the AFL, but way to premature to start panicking.
They've had a long partnership and their three NC facilities are considered to be some of the best, so while Charlotte obviously isn't ideal for pitchers, I don't know that they'd look to leave because of that.
Scouts let go by "analytic" orgs. Of all the crap JR said today, that was something I actually agreed with. Bringing in good scouts that were let go would be a plus for the org. They obviously need to beef up analytically, but no reason they can't/shouldn't build up their scouting staff as well.
Crochet was at the Alt site for a bit in 2020 if we want to count that as "minor leagues" under the circumstances, but that and the Sheets thing are minor nits to pick in otherwise spot on arguments.
I found his presser boring and filled with a lot of nothing outside of him mentioning outside influence a few times. It wasn't a great performance, but listening to JR meet with the media made me significantly more mad.
