To be fair, if you were to tell me after the last two seasons that Jacob Gonzalez could possibly sniff 100/league average I would ask who your dealer was.

Travis Sawchik said in his tweet thread that it was a two year project, so I'm guessing they started this after the initial announcement of the Sox being interested in the 78 site a couple years ago.

I will say I jumped off the Gonzalez train relatively quickly because he didn't show enough at any stop in the minors, but I'll need to see an extended run of success in AAA before I come off that hill. Like James said, definitely expect to see him in the majors at some point due to the draft spot/pedigree, but I suppose getting a UTIL guy is better than nothing.

He's certainly making a case for himself with this insane heater he's on. I'm not sure how much longer they can keep him in Winston, but I'll definitely be excited to see how he does in Birmingham whenever he gets the call, which will be more age appropriate.
