4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
dohnut replied to ChiSox59's topic in 2024 Season in Review
I’m ok with the 7 HRs in 10 games for some reason (you’re not going to homer in every game, right?)… but, 15 runs in 10 games is an embarrassment. -
Poll: Predict Final Win Total for the 2024 Chicago White

It's a lot of the same stiffs, though - Moncada, Eloy, Benintendi, Vaughn. Half the lineup is still the same hurt, underachieving crew. -
You're already paying $1M per year for earthworm reproduction research (that's true btw). There are going to be 2 sides to this forever - and we'll never agree :)... One is "don't give a cheapskate billionaire owner more money". One is "you're pissing away our money anyway - let's get a cool park on the lake".
-
We don’t want this to devolve into a political discussion. But, let’s be honest. Illinois in general - and Chicago in particular - tax the hell out of everyone. Residents, tourists, passersby… We may as well have a cool stadium complex to show for it.
-
Just Spring Training, but worst run differential in the league. I don’t think it’ll be much different during the regular season.
-
That's a good point - and probably right. I could totally see people saying they were trying to copy Wrigley.

If anyone can pay $370M for something that costs $152M, it's the government ?
-
Wow - that Kopech comparison. Looks like they grabbed a shirsey off a Walmart rack.
-
That site is a clown show. They’ve run 4 articles on the new stadium - all of them negative. Sure, there are concerns, but they’re in the very early stages of this thing.
-
They can’t even keep an In-N-Out burger ?. I’ll be seeing an A’s game in Vegas, though.

All I could find is him reporting on the same "tapped in source"

The billionaires are still going to be billionaires. And, we’re going to pay the same taxes either way. We can either have an awesome ballpark and not have the potholes fixed, or not have a ballpark and not have the potholes fixed ?
-
Agreed - it’d be a huge win for the city. I really hope it gets done ?

Honestly, I don’t understand the “I don’t want my tax dollars going towards a ballpark” thing. A baseball stadium is something tangible. You drive past it on your way to work everyday. You pop in and catch a game and have a churro every so often. You see it on TV. If there were only 600 politicians in Illinois making $100k per year, I’d rather my money go towards a $2.1B stadium than 35 years of their salaries. But, that’s just me.

I don’t know about that - I’ll definitely be planning a weekend trip in Vegas to see the Sox. I imagine a lot of baseball fans of other teams will as well.

ISWYDT - Happy New Year!

Ugh - take it to sbnation, man.

lol - you joke, but I’d be fine with them putting Eloy back out there. Who cares about “injury risk” at this point. Maybe he surprises and we can unload him at the deadline.
