  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 03:30 AM) Here's my off-season plan (full rebuild) for our beloved ChiSox: Flame away boys! One question. Who do we take with the #1 pick in the draft the next year? And Puig would be awful on that team would be a cancer and distraction with how bad the team would suck. I only like him as a bounce back candidate on a team that is playoff bound.
  2. Odd that we never seem to be able to get anything at all for our players. I find it hard to believe he has zero value. Doesn't bode well for trying to trade other players like Cabrera, Frazier, Robertson.
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) If we can pry Devers away from Bosox, Frazier won't be around for 3 years. He will. Frazier to 1B and Abreu to DH.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) If you are rebuilding, you stand to gain more from a rebound than you do dumping him now. he isn't even costing you that much. I love that our #3 and #4 hitters in that lineup are/recently were DFA candidates.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) Or Frazier moves to 1B and trade Abreu or Abreu goes to DH That would be my plan if only Sale, Lawrie and Cabrera are moved.
  6. That would help smaller market teams a ton. When it comes to prospects it should be a level playing field.
  7. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) The Sox cater to millennials now? No wonder the organization is failing. Mark Looks like I hit a nerve. They definitely don't cater to millennials. The Cubs do and it's why they will continue to win over more and more of the city until this team moves on to a new one.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) loud music doesn't get people pumped up, it irritates them. The Sox cater to geriatrics now? No wonder the organization is failing.
  9. QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) I've thought about opening lines of communication with Brooks Boyer asking him to get in touch with the gamesay operations team to bring back things like Pirates of the Caribbean with Thunderstruck before games, the "Let's Go White Sox" song during the game, getting some more loud things to get fans involved during the game and maybe players might consider more intimidating music entering the game - I'd love to hear some "Harvest of Sorrow" in the game again. It would be nice if the place wasn't so chill all of the time and see fans get pumped up for a change...other than when the Checy Pride crew comes out with free t-shirts. I definitely agree with these points: -Bring in an organist to continue the legacy of Nancy Faust to bring back the old time feel of the ballpark -Bring back the pregame intro and introductions from the early to mid 2000's. The pregame intros with Thunderstruck were awesome. -Incorporate a shortened version of the "Let's Go White Sox" song from the 2005 postseason into the games when the team is rallying I can't believe they got rid of this stuff. Pure stupidity.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) I don't think he is either. My preference is Swihart in all honesty and he might be the Sox preference as well. Who knows. Swihart has an injury history now and is not a major league catcher. I'd rather take my chances on Vazquez figuring out how to hit than Swihart suddenly becoming a great defensive catcher and pitch framer. It's not like Swihart was a very good offensive producer to begin with.
  11. QUOTE (Coach @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 01:38 PM) Carlos Beltran? Let's go for him, rename him with Adam as his 1st name and see what happens with another aging veteran named Adam. Oh Wait, we did that twice already. How did that work out? He's older but much better than the roach was.
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) There's been talk Devers may be the best of the bunch. I want him in any deal. Moncada, Benintendi, Devers and Rodriguez or Kopech? Yeah that would do it for me. After the first 3 I think you try to get Groome (or Kopech) and Vazquez, or E Rod. That's the only way I would include Nate Jones.
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 06:36 PM) Here comes the posturing. Pucker up DD. You're cornered and we all know it. You're staff is NOT good enough as is. I truly believe it's Sale and a reliever. I prefer to keep Nate, however, if it can help us get a better return you absolutely do it. This deal will get done in the next month I honestly believe. I love Chris Sale, but a rebuild is what this organization needs to do. We better be getting Moncada, Benintendi, and Devers if they are getting Nate Jones too.
  14. Having 6 decent starters that aren't ace caliber doesn't get them anywhere in the playoffs.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) ... with one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball Well it would be playing to the strengths of our ballpark which is something we haven't done for about 15 years. Yeah the starting pitching wouldn't be good but the bullpen would be good enough. Just get our starters to go 5-6 without going off the rails. We would still have Q, Gonzo, and Shields who all pitched pretty decently at times. We would need to develop a starter from the minors and find a serviceable starter off the scrap heap. The team has been able to do this plenty of times. Q would get a Cy Young if we could put together an offense like that.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) Sale for Trout + $. Gives the angles the ace and starting pitcher they need with enough offset financially for them to still throw in money to us and sign a FA OF bat. They'd have an overall increase in WAR. We'd get the best possible solution known to man for our OF and line up, with some cash thrown in to help us sign a FA SP or pick one up in another trade which requires more salary. One can dream. I think a Trout for elite pitching swap makes a lot of sense for both teams. Not sure if they would have reservations about dealing a fan favorite. If we could add an Encarnacion or Cespedes and a catcher in a trade for Lawrie we could start Saladino at 2B, LF/DH Melky and have all the lineup holes covered. That would be a top 2-3 offense on paper playing in the USCF bandbox for half the season.
  17. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 03:02 AM) Something on twitter someone retweeted They are vets with a lot of playoff experience. Wouldn't be the worst move to sign either.
  18. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 02:46 AM) MLBTradeRumors suggested that the Angels may be in on Sale. I'm finding it hard to figure out a trade match with them, considering their farm system is historically bad. I suppose you would immediately start with RF Kole Calhoun and a prospect package of 1B Matt Thiass, OF Jahmai Jones, C Taylor Ward, and LHP Nate Smith, although none of those are even top 100 prospects, but happen to be 4 of the top 5 that the Angels have. Just doesn't seem like a fit. Sale and Rodon for Mike Trout
  19. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) At least Mets fans and A's fans understood why they were second fiddle to their rivals. They were/are actually good. As Sox fans, we've been second best for years to a team that didn't do anything in over a century. There has basically no reason for the Cubs to be as popular as they have been over the past 20 years. If any other team in any other sport had the record they had they'd be the laughing stock of the league and rightfully so. Yet Cubs fans can't understand why we have been so bitter over the years. Being continually forgotten because of a team that gets more recognition for losing than winning is not fun. It didn't have to be that way. JR's biggest blunder was not building the new stadium in a very accessible and fan friendly location. He's always been about the bottom line above all else and that explains why he has failed to transform the franchise into something better. He's just not capable of seeing the bigger picture when it comes to spending on the team.
  20. The Cubs will probably win another 2 World Series in the next 5 years. They will be like the Yankees of the late 90's. I really doubt any debt will hurt them that ballclub is a gold mine.
  21. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 03:19 AM) on the white sox website the showcased Collins, a good natural hitter with power but a fringe catcher that runners ran on him stealing 18 out of 21 attempts.. Already he is better than AJ. Well in that case they should just put him in LF and let him focus on hitting.
  22. Pretty lackluster and lazy analysis of our placing by that article writer. Didn't bother to mention the lack of minor league development preventing us from filling holes while being constrained by the payroll budget.
  23. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 11:57 PM) If all they signed was Cespedes and Chapman - I'd still look at it as an unfinished job. It's a gamble either way. I just think if everything goes right that adding Cespedes and Chapman will maximize your win potential versus adding 4 subpar/borderline starter position players and/or a back end starter.
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) Do you care to offer why his prospect status may still exist? Age is no argument for him. He's failed year/year and has made no improvements to his pitfalls since he was 19. His profile offers him no utility as a complementary piece. Unless he starts recognizing some spin and increases his contact rate significantly he will be done in the org within the next two years. Probably a bust either way. I'd say he has better odds of figuring out how to become a higher OBP hitter at expense of some of his power versus learning how to become a pitcher while already at the pro level. Matt Davidson got a 3rd season in AAA after two awful ones in his age 24 and 25 season comparable to what Hawkins did in AA in his age 22 2016 season. I'd give him another year or two to show something with the bat.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 12:34 AM) Sox are not going to sign Chapman. There are five major money teams with a need for closer (chc, nyy, lad, sf, nats). Prices will be insane Would be nice to have an owner who cared about winning. Such a joke that we have to consider rebuilding with 2 cost controlled aces. Don't think I'd trust the front office to trade them. It's like teams just have it in their head that they can fleece the Sox and never give in to their demands.
