  1. Juvenile name calling is best left to little bully boys on the school sand lot. If you are talking about the cubs though, go ahead.
  2. Generally, I think throwing in the towel in any sport is bad business and poor sportsmanship. Sox can win some of the close games they have been losing. They have to make adjustments and keep trying, not throw in the towel. As long as they go out and battle, I will support the team.
  3. The Sox are losing a lot of 9 inning games by one or two runs and losing some in extra innings. Management can either throw in the towel and tank the team for years by trading premium talent for prospects OR find a way to improve the team so that they can get over the hump and win many of those close games. I would pursue the latter course because the Sox have a few hitters who will start hitting and they have improved the depth of the pitching staff which will serve them as the season moves on. It isn't even baseball weather yet.
  4. Maybe more attendance with no parking? And who is "we." You go to a lot of games?
  5. Wasn't there a LuBob on Dukes of Hazzard ? Name sounds like one of the good ole boys. Yea, really a contrived nickname for Luis.
  6. Severe storms were forecast for the past two days. Is that when you think attendance figures should be bandied about sarcastically? You appear to be hell bent on trying to damage this franchise. How many games each year do you attend?
  7. The opening series with Detroit set the tone. Sox could have and probably should have won 2/3 of those games but they didn't. Grifol was responsible for not having every player ready to compete, physically and mentally, from Opening Day. Multiple strained and pulled muscles? Blame the players if you want but ownership pays the manager and a conditioning staff to have players prepared before every game and every at-bat. That was not the case. What the heck were they doing at Spring "Training." Moving forward, the team is obviously short on talent but Grifol has to come up with a line-up and a strategy to scratch across a few runs. No need for Grifol to stay up at night analyzing film. Instead typical baseball strategy for a weak hitting team is called for - take more pitches to try and get walks...bunt....hit toward the opposite field... move around in the box from pitch to pitch....grind out every at-bat. And please move slow players and guys that hit a lot of grounders down in the line-up to avoid double plays. Well, I am tired of waiting for the Sox to do any of that so IMO, Grifol has to go as soon as possible. It's not too late to at least have a course change that can win some games. Don't wait until the All Star break to give this guy his walking papers.
  8. AV's upside has been somewhat limited IMO, because of his lumbering football linebacker body type and his inability (at least to this point) to adjust to scouting reports. All too often, pitchers exploit his vulnerabilities at the plate (i.e., inability to cover off-speed pitches on the outer half). We would all like to see AV hit 25+ home runs this year but instead, he looks like he wants to lead the league in HIDP. Bottom line is that AV has to get hot and start hitting some bombs.
  9. Benintendi and Vaughn are carrying this team on their shoulders I tell you.
  10. I you are a cub fan go ahead. Nothing positive comes from losing...nothing. You break the spirit of the players and the fans and diminish the franchise in every way imaginable. That is why I don't trust or respect the opinions of those who relish in WSox losses.
  11. Do you easily fall for Con jobs? Let me guess which candidates you are voting for. Never mind.
  12. The area 78 stadium proposal was created solely by the filth that owns that strip of land, and that isn't Jerry Reinsdorf. Sox are not going to relocate to crooked creek and no one should expect taxpayers or Reinsdorf to throw 2 Billion dollars at that developer. Amazon and others pulled out of there and the Sox should distance themselves from it as well. There are other alternatives and right now there is nothing wrong with GR field. Meanwhile, as everyone knows, the problem is not enough talent on the current roster. Adding talent may be easier said than done, but it must be done.
  13. That would be a firing offense as well but beyond that, that Getz is a real chickenshit.. "I'm not allowed" really?
  14. If I had an employee who openly remarked that his/her job or any assigned task was "easier said that done," I would fire him/her.
  15. He opined about that prospect only one time that I am aware of (and no he never told his family that), yet it has been misconstrued and bandied about thousands of times in the media and by others. Jerry is more likely to leave ownership decisions to his heirs and business partners, with the proviso that he wants them to keep the White Sox in Chicago.
  16. Cub fans hate Eloy. That's one of the reasons he is my favorite WSox player. Mostly though, he brings some excitement for fans with every at-bat.
  17. tray replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes he is. Just saw it on Twitter(X). Perhaps Montgomery will be called up if Moncada will be out for an extended period. Just do it.
  18. The 1977 WSox probably drew more fans than almost any other WSox team in the history of the franchise. The reasons for the attendance draw were basically twofold - Harry Carey and a team that hit a lot of clutch home runs. The '83 Sox had a great team but the fan support started early on with Fisk, Luzinski and Kittle hitting roof top shots. I realize that winning games is the ultimate goal, but a lot of fans come out to see home runs. Our line-up, even at full strength, has not produced enough home runs at GRF to create any reason for a lot of fans to attend.
  19. You must not go to any games based on your comments. Eloy and Vaughn stretch their hamstrings before games on the field (and for Eloy, between at-bats as well). Both of them also use rubber band stretch rings around their ankles prior to games to exercise their legs. You think Eloy is a moron? I think about the same of those (not including you) who post nothing but negative nasty trash on this message board. Eloy is a special talent and because of his size, he is susceptible to injury. So is Aaron Judge https://www.foxsports.com/mlb/aaron-judge-player-injuries It's easy for some to hate others, especially those who don't necessarily look like them. Eloy is a great player and one of the nicer players I have ever met. He will mash this year once the weather warms up, like he did in ST.
  20. That piece of land near the lakefront would be a nice location for the WSox.
  21. It is hard to remain competitive when management and scouts make very poor decisions year after year. There was no reason to trade Cease at this point as the most recent example. Without him the rotation is really awful.
  22. Why would any sports team invest a Billion dollars without owning the underlying and surrounding real estate? If when you understand the dynamics of Related's 78 proposals, what they have been trying to do will become obvious.
  23. Those were not fighting words. We are in our 60's and 70's and don't duke it out with youngsters but we always enjoy conversation with fellow Sox fans, especially genuine fans, and any rational people we meet. We discussed the ridiculous idea propounded by a greedy developer to move Sox park into a congested South Loop Office high rise park with no parking....at tax payers expense. Everyone (including those we met while tailgating or spoke with later outside Turtles, thought that the 78 idea was preposterous. Perhaps go to a few games, drive around the neighborhoods North and West of the park and have a drink at one of the bars adjacent to Armor Park. Look at the Chicago skyline from there. The latest 78 concept was a Hail Marty pass by Related to finally obtain public financing by crammimg a baseball stadium within a silly rendering (which they finally tinted green to patronize South side fans). It's not gonna happen.
  24. Illinois got taught today. Got their asses handed to them.
