  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 3, 2007 -> 05:02 PM) The Cubs really are a bad team. The NL Central is an absolute joke.
  2. Baltimore is freaking pathetic. Losing 30-3 and being no hit in less than 2 weeks is impressive.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) We're lucky if ANY of our draft picks contribute, yet alone one year after being drafted. And these selections from the Yankees weren't done within the Top 10, either. I guess when scouting works and management doesn't fears the menacing wrath of major league baseball and their slot recommendations, talent can be found. I'm already setting the bar of whomever is our first round draft selection for next season, they'll be up here contributing (ie, immediate results) by 2010. There should be no excuse from anyone to the contrary. I expect success, and quite frankly, we're going to desperately need it within the upcoming seasons. I tend to agree, unless we take a HS kid. In that case I think you have to give a little more time for development.
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) You work? Poor Mike Mussina. I hate him but I love him. I hope he gets it together. Ian Kennedy called up to take Mussina's spot in the rotation and he goes 7 innings giving up 1 ER and picking up a W. That is two pitchers from last years draft already called up and contributing for the Yankees. Must be nice.
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) Hunter is just a selfish prick with a history of choking when it counts... Yep, his playoff numbers are just terrible. Rowand was way better when it counted.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) Mother f***er Braun. Walking Prince. Cmon Hart - bust some balls. That was a pathetic AB by Braun.
  7. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) I still can't root for the White Sox to lose. I don't care about draft picks. There are no guarantees and losing SUCKS. There aren't guarantees, but you have a better chance of getting a future star drafting in the top 3 than you would from 10-15.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 08:23 PM) HAHAHA, Andy Gonzalez at 3rd rules. Throws it over PK's head, throw it short of PK, had an error last night. How long will this useless experiment last? Maybe he can single handedly lose us enough games to get the number 1 pick.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:15 PM) Huge difference in the pool of players you're picking from with a top 3 pick compared to the 20 range. Yep, as long as you don't cheap out the talent level and potential of the players at the top of the draft are much higher than the types of guys we have been drafting.
  10. Linebrink is absolutely pathetic.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) Moose is having an awful stretch, but can someone explain to me why he should be pulled from the rotation? Do you mean for good? Is his velocity and all that down or something? He has no velocity at all right now. If you are the Yankees you can't afford to keep throwing him out there when you are in the playoff hunt.
  12. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 07:15 PM) I hate seeing Mussina struggle like this. I would pull him from the rotation.
  13. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) Was it ever either proven or was there any reliable, corraborating (sp?) evidence that teammates tried to cover it up? None at all.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) The Rangers have 24 runs with bases loaded 0 outs in the 9th. Make that 26 runs, 2nd and 3rd no outs. 30 now
  15. Well, it was a hell of a streak.
  16. Great defense this inning. Lets keep it up.
  17. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) God this team is beyond awful. They should define a new term for how bad we are. I can't think of a single team playing worse baseball right now. Milwaukee has been pretty damn close.
  18. Absolutely awful call at the plate goes against the Cardinals. Lots of things going the Cubs way right now even though they aren't playing good baseball.
  19. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) But at this point, it's impossible to defend Weber's recruiting as being anything but bad. He's getting the same talent level that he did at a mid-major. I don't think it's being overly critical to say that. As someone who has defended Weber in the past, mainly because I've always felt you give a coach at least 4 years to put together their team I now feel the end is likely near. I agree with the 1st part of your statement but he has brought in more talent than he did at SIU. Weber's recruiting was always a concern, especially after the 05 class. At that point I thought he still had a chance to be able to recruit at a decent level and it looked like things were heading in the right direction with Semrau and Carlwell. Than he failed to land a single guard in the 06 class which was terrible. The 07 class is solid but it looked like things were turning around with a solid 07 class and Richmond. Now unless things change dramatically I think he only has 2 years left.
  20. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) If I were the guy who caught the ball, I would draw a big, giant "*" on the ball, then give it to him. No you wouldn't. You would sell it like any other person on this board.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) So f***ing glad I got to see that live, one of those special moments no matter how you feel about him. Sorry, but knowing that this record is largely the product of performance enhancing drugs makes it impossible for that to be a special moment IMO.
  22. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) 756! Meh
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) Yeah, I don't give them that for a guy whose power was sapped by steroids and will continue to decrease with his wrist injury. And it'd probably be more than Garland/Gio, knowing Angelos. His power last year may have been down a little last year. But it was not significantly different from his time with the A's as his extra base hit totals were similar to what he had done in Oakland. His slugging percentage was also higher than all but one of his seasons in Oakland. And he actually posted the second highest OPS of his career last year. Aside from the wrist injury, I'm not seeing much drop off in production.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) I want no part of Tejada..The last thing this club needs is another power bat in the lineup.. I would have thought 2005 and the 1st half offense would have shown the fans something. How to play baseball the right way, which leads to winning baseball. But, it seems most fans are stuck in the riods era of having 5 guys hit 30hrs makes for great highlights on baseball tonight.. does not make for winning baseball. The 2005 offense sucked and relied heavily on the home run. The last thing I want to see is another offense like that. They got hot at the right time in the playoffs, but that offense was pretty awful to watch for most of that season. That team won because of great pitching, not because of "small ball". The 1st half offense was terrible this year because JD sucked, we don't even have a respectable leadoff man, and we have a couple of guys in our lineup who have frankly just suck.
  25. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 11:50 AM) Why is that? Seriously whats your reasoning, just about any one of those players I listed I could put in the top 3 arguably, the fact that he holds the record for most hits of all time made me put him there. He has the most hits because he was a very good hitter for a long time but that still doesn't mean he belongs in the top 3. Loo at his numbers next to guys like Gehrig, Musial, Hornsby, Aaron and they pale in comparison. He hit for a good average and did a good job getting on base. But he didn't hit for power, and his average and OBP is actually significantly lower than guys like Gehrig and Musial.
