  1. Both. He is cheap and signing guys to expensive four year deals is not the same as intelligent ten year deals to stars. Reinsdorf’s version gets him off the hook in a couple years. That’s very temporary spending. Also based on things we’ve read and surveys done guys do not want to come here, I think that’s pretty obvious. I don’t think a change in ownership does much to change that… What star wants to come to Chicago’s forgotten team? Stars want to be seen. The damage Reinsdorf has done the last ten years can’t be undone, IMHO.
  2. I’ll assume no and adjust later if evidence proves me wrong.
  3. Also spending for a couple years when contracts come off the books shortly is a lot different than signing the Harper’s of the world to ten year contracts. The former is not a credible business model in the business of baseball.
  4. I mean if you want to overpay bums I suppose you can get high paid players. I don’t think you can get credible players to sign here.
  5. At the time Wheeler turned them down it looked like their farm system produced some players. I don’t think credible free agents want to play for Chicago’s forgotten team, even in better years. They certainly don’t want to sign ten year contracts with them.
  6. That fan blackmail never really worked in the past. I don't think there are enough of them at this point to move the needle.
  7. I doubt much will change where the high dollar guys would want to come in three years. We have the recent example (Wheeler?) of a guy turning down more Sox money to go elsewhere. It's got to be much worse now.
  8. I thought this was a thread from a different year and then lo and behold they just updated the presser.
  9. He should have had to sleep in the bed that he defecated in for the rest of the season.
  10. An equal combination of A, B, and C.
  11. Not much different happens with Hinch. Go back a few years earlier to an alternate timeline when the White Sox act like a professional organization and are wise enough to sign Bryce Harper when the biggest spenders could not. Imagine this organization with a player who sells jerseys and basically pays for his own contract with jersey sales.
  12. “Likely” is an overstatement.
  13. It certainly seems that way. If I were a betting man that’s what I’d bet. They will probably win enough games to pick seventh or eighth in the 2025 season. Then, when they can’t pick in the top ten, they’ll lose 110.
  14. That’s what this year should have been.
  15. Getz has demonstrated no ability to pick up good prospects in trades. Hes been fleeced in every trade.
  16. What’s the point? Getz couldn’t get anybody with a future.
  17. Lou Brown from Major League.
  18. They did it!!!! First team to win fewer than four games in a month! https://x.com/jeff_grzybowski/status/1818287724153225301
  19. Decent chance they get to 100 before September.
  20. Imagine if they wasted a year with a legit GM.
  21. This. Just call the game. You don’t have to be Dick Vitale or even a homer like Hawk. Just call the game like you enjoy the game of baseball.
