  1. I love that picture
  2. He played 59 games before arriving in Chicago at age 35. He maxed out at 108 after. It was a miracle he was relatively healthy while he was in Chicago.
  3. Seaver wasn’t really washed up when they signed him. He was a couple years removed from a Cy Young and was pretty productive with the Sox. Thome was productive but I think that was by accident. The rest were typical waste of time.
  4. It goes back to at least the 80s. They signed George Foster, Steve Carlton, Charlie Hough, Jose Canseco in the 90s.
  5. I really believe the AAA team at the major league level would be more watchable. You would at least see guys not going through the motions. And they would have won 3 out of 23 games.
  6. Nobody could win with this time but Grifol couldn’t win with the ‘27 Yankees. And, yes, even in a punt year (which they couldn’t afford remember) Getz had a responsibility to at least put competent players on the team. He should be fired first. I’m enjoying watching other teams this year and getting to know them better.
  7. Yeah when I was a kid we always stuck the worst player in LF.
  8. Why is Benitendi the proud owner of the largest contract in team history? He can’t hit, can’t field. What good is he?
  9. True. Forgot about that stretch. They were cheated in 1992. So about 30 years.
  10. In all likelihood absolutely nothing. Pittsburgh has been floundering since 1979. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Sox still floundering in 2035, thirty years after their last World Series.
  11. Usually plan it but 2026 will be using Cosport packages I believe.
  12. We go to almost every Winter Olympics. Usually see most of the curling. 2018 was really something.
  13. Sounds like The Bad News Bears (which I saw for the 500th time last night): “And we did hit 17 foul balls!”
  14. They have won three games by a total of four runs. That’s luck. They could very easily be winless.
  15. The Sox are 30th in all of baseball in run differential. On the wrong end. Next closest is 20 runs better. https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/run-differential More than half of their losses has been 4 or more runs. Their three wins are by a total of four runs. They are less than a handful of runs away from being winless. This is one of the weirder takes.
  16. Of course he was going to get hurt again. Last year was the outlier. He got hurt all the time in the minors and in the majors. It was indeed a massive failure not to sell once he managed to play a full season.
  17. Bbbbbutt, they hired Getz because they couldn’t waste a season with a new guy getting to know the organization. Of course you’re right. Getz is in over his head more than Hahn ever was and is at the same depth as Grifol.
  18. And he is the proud owner of the largest White Sox contract, ever.
  19. It’s like people have memory holed the last 6-7 years.
  20. Far more Bears fans to make their voices heard than there are White Sox fans.
  21. You misspelled “stupid”.
  22. Also interesting that a fan rooting against them breaks their spirit but a 2-12 record does not?
  23. Would there be any takers for Kopech? Any that would trade even a lottery ticket for him?
  24. They are not a national laughing stock or national disgrace. They are ignored. They can’t even get their championship from twenty years ago recognized by local media. Nobody nationally is paying enough attention to the White Sox to laugh at them.
  25. As you get older you learn to realize these guys we (used to) root for couldn’t give a rats rear end about the fans and your attachment to the team wanes. I realize that’s not universally true but is certainly true with most the fans or former fans I know. They’ve moved on to other teams and are not unhappy. Life’s too short to let entertainment be anything other than that.
