  1. He’d be there if the list was 20.
  2. Alex Rios Juan Agosto Nick Swisher Tim Anderson Javier Vasquez Tony LaRussa David Wells Joey Belle Jaime Navarro Jose Canseco John Danks
  3. There is in fact a block function if you’re tired of reading posts. Also can’t one be simply a disgruntled or even former Sox fan without being a Cubs fan?
  4. I hated that guy.
  5. I already question why they would.
  6. Nothing is worse than his being the main driver in cancelling the 1994 season.
  7. It was never a team. It was a bunch of individuals that didn’t like each other. Watch the Anderson All Star announcement, nobody cared. They didn’t like him. Roberts couldn’t be bothered to learn the coaches names. Moncada was more interested in partying. Middleton told us on his way out. It was a cultural disaster. And they weren’t talented enough to overcome lack of teamwork.
  8. Respectfully, wrong. Thome's HR and Griffey's catch in the same game against Minnesota in the black out game were better. Also Alexi's HR against Detroit to get them to the Minnesota game.
  9. I would love to have an excuse to call him tomorrow.
  10. Better to just read the Chicago Fanatics message boards to hear their take on what the Score idiots are saying. https://www.chicagofanatics.com/
  11. I have a soft spot in my heart for Farmer. He called me after I sent him a fan letter as a young child. I can still remember the look on my dad’s face when he answered the phone. I still can’t forgive Al Cowens to this day.
  12. I thought they were saying that long before this announcement? The whole season all I read was fan’s apathy. The last two years actually. I don’t think this is what broke the camel’s back.
  13. Look around you, this franchise is already destroyed. They just lost 100+ games in their contention window. The north side rival won and rebuilt and hired what many consider to be the top manager in the game in the same time period. They have all the fans and all the attention. I would not be at all surprised to see this franchise in Nashville in the next decade and an expansion team here. (Not saying I expect it but I think there’s a better chance of them moving to Nashville than being in the playoffs by 2030.)
  14. No. They were in second place at the White Flag trade. They were 2.5 years away from competing. They are looking at 100 losses the next couple of years. The minor league system is a disaster. They are nowhere close to competing. Not a valid comparison.
  15. Based on overall comments I think most are just indifferent to the entire organization. They certainly wouldn’t be happy but I doubt they could muster the strength to be angry at this point.
  16. Why did he leave the last two after just one year?
  17. I'm not sure that there is anything in his post playing career that would suggest this.
  18. The only ones with managing experience were Torborg who managed Cleveland during a nap, Renteria who the Cubs tossed out with the rest of the trash, and drunken old washed up LaRussa. Now they have a clown as GM. This is not a serious organization. Hasn't been for at least 30 years.
  19. I disagree. I think any manager worth anything would have had Reinsdorf and Hahn/Williams numbers blocked. LaRussa was their ceiling. Turns out they would have been better off with Renteria.
  20. I’m sure they would consider signing Ohtani. $10 million annual salary with the potential to earn $2 billion per year in unattainable incentives. Then say “Welp, we tried. Can’t blame us for trying.”
  21. I’d rake David Caruso over Grifol.
  22. Why would a credible manager join the Sox? We went through this during the Renteria years when people were pining for Girardi or Francona or Bochy or Hinsch. Credible managers will not come here. Rick Renteria is the best Sox fans can hope for.
  23. Roberts played in 145 games last year. That is an aberration for him. He was 98 and 68 the two previous years and always banged up in the minors. If/when he goes down and Cease is hurt or traded 50 wins seems highly likely. Unless they did the smart thing and do another “The kids can play”. At least you would have a bunch of guys actually trying. I don’t think Grifol could pull that off, though.
  24. Don’t they lose Cease after 2024? He’s a 3 for a decent team but he’s the Sox top starter. I think it could get worse after 2024. This franchise has not hit rock bottom yet.
