The Astros were always my favorite NL team. It’s been really hard to root then since they hired Dusty Baker.

Kenny maybe. I think Hahn’s only talent was signing the occasional good contract. But that suffered in recent years with Jimenez and Grandal and Benitendi being a couple good good examples of poor contracts.

It is impossible to sign premier free agents in 2023 unless you go long term. Reinsdorf has proved he will not go long term. So there will be no repeat of 1971. In fact Reinsdorf has not signed a premier free agent since 1997 and even then he got out of the last two years because he didn't want to pay them. I don't know why other teams would trade someone of value for Anderson, Moncada, and Jimenez. Maybe there are other GMs dumber than Getz. That's what you have to hope for.

A good free agent class and the Sox fortunes are mutually exclusive. They never end up in Chicago anyway. At least on the Sox.
