This season has been “less awful than most”
Hiroshima after the bomb was in better shape than the White Sox were a year ago. There is no promising look when you’re losing at least 101 games.

Being bad doesn't = Rebuilding
The last point … I knew the last rebuild would never work because no one was fired but it (and frankly the franchise) was doomed to failure the minute they screwed around with Harper with no intention of signing him. A guy who would have been an historic franchise player, affordable by today’s standards. Once they played their games this entire franchise was exposed. (Of course you could go back further still, Navarro instead of Clemens for example.) Signing Harper could have given Hahn some massive success. Once the other hand this franchise is where stars come to die so Harper probably would have been a replacement level player had he signed with the Sox.

Genuine progress
With the Tigers and Mets winning tonight and the Getz’s losing again they are 26th in the league since the All Star break, which is in fact better than 29th.

Fooled us maybe for a little bit.
(Toews and Kane Hawks?)

Genuine progress
https://champsorchumps.us/summary/mlb/2025/after-all-star-break So much for progress since the All Star break. Tied for 24th now and could easily be in 27th before the weekend is over.

Most consecutive 100-loss seasons in MLB history
Don’t forget that they didn’t interview anyone because they could not afford to waste a year. Wonder where they would be had they wasted a year.

Most consecutive 100-loss seasons in MLB history
Nah. You’re forgetting the Hawk Harrelson experiment. Turning one of the greatest catchers of all time into a left fielder and then telling him to get lost on the road. That they had a few winning seasons doesn’t absolve them of running a crappy organization that entire time.

Most consecutive 100-loss seasons in MLB history
Fixed it for you.

Genuine progress
If you throw out August they are 16-12, well above .500. Throw out August and the current six game losing streak and they are 16-6 since the All Star break, well above .700. They're practically the Dodgers and Yankees.

I don’t think this is the guarantee of future success that you think it is. It won’t be easy to undo the organizational rot and the widespread perception of this organization just by changing ownership. They will have to revamp the entire organization, correctly. If successful, they will still have to undo the league wide view of the organization.

Genuine progress
Not hatred. Just mathematics.

Genuine progress
If you take away the five game losing streak at the start of September then they are playing below .400 since the All Star break.

Genuine progress
I think we are being generous with the word “exceptional” here.

Genuine progress
Noted. If you took away the six, four, three, and five game losing streaks they had in August and made them 9-0 instead of 9-19 they might be the best team in baseball since the All Star break.

This math only works in my APBA 54 game season.

Genuine progress
Even if the desire to sign guys like this changes once Reinsdorf is gone that still won't change the perception from players around the league that the White Sox are a less than desirable place to sign. There will be a White Sox Premium that other teams don't pay.

Genuine progress
They’re 22 in the league post all star break and will most likely drop to 26 before the weekend. The post all star break record is not a hill to die on.

Predict the White Sox win total 2025
It’s virtually impossible for them to win 63 games.

I’m tired of these types of posts
Yes I remember that poster here on Soxtalk. I felt so sorry for him. Maybe the team will in fact end up moving to Nashville and the laugh will be on the rest of us.

I’m tired of these types of posts
Yeah … I haven’t seen any posts deleted for positivity. Granted, I’m not privy to that but I think there would have been an outcry against it.

I’m tired of these types of posts
Oh here we go … “you’ll be on the bandwagon …” These are so tiresome. Is there some sort of prize awarded to fans by sports teams for unwaveringly supporting them during trying times? What do they get out of it? I saw the Blackhawks empty for plenty of years, just diehards showing up. When they were winning 10-15 years ago guess who were at the finals games. A bunch of corporate types that have never seen a hockey game in their lives. Congratulations on supporting them in the down times. Your fan rating must be through the roof.

Also is it really just Getz's second year? The stated intent was to make it a seamless transition, ergo no GM search. So it's clear the past failures can also be attributed to Getz to some degree.

Fire Chris Getz
What?

Fire Chris Getz
No, nobody has come to the conclusion that Getz isn't a moron. It's mostly indifference at this point.

White Sox in 2026
What kind of a premium do the Sox pay to land someone? We know from experience it is greater than zero. 10%?
