  1. Of course there’s still the problem with … why do the Sox draft players that suck?
  2. Yeah the fans around Tampa don’t really deserve them. Year in and year out they put out a good product and nobody shows up.
  3. I’ve been coasting off the fumes of growing up a White Sox fan. I’ve tuned them out in current times. I read about them obviously but can’t justify spending time watching them. As a new part time Florida resident I do get enjoyment out of following the Rays and watching them. I thought I would find it difficult but it hasn’t really been difficult. I may even buy a partial Ray’s season ticket package next year.
  4. The 1983 team had lots of players you could like. Fisk, Baines, Luzinski, Hoyt, Kittle, Law. This team has maybe Burger.
  5. I would hate to see this site turn into WSI. Things don’t get rehashed there but they have about six people who post because they’ve run everyone else off.
  6. I’m not sure what should be discussed until the trade deadline? Should it just be game threads and close the rest of the site down until then?
  7. I have a feeling we may see some trades (Giolito, Lynn, etc.) happen in June. Then they will be buried. Hawks and Bears won the first picks. Maybe the Sox and Bulls will join them.
  8. I could rattle off a handful of games they should not have won, starting with the TB game. Can’t play the game of “shoulda won that” because just as easily “shoulda lost that” can be played.
  9. Who’s scapegoated Jimenez and Anderson? I’ve seen scapegoated on these pages: Grifol Moncada Lynn Kelly Vaughn Grandal Roberts Hahn Reinsdorf The entire bullpen Katz Do try to peruse these pages more often.
  10. There does exist an ignore function.
  11. They might be Oakland after they trade Giolito and Lynn and others at the deadline.
  12. I don’t think it can when they will be sellers at the deadline. Even if they do win it’s like winning in the WNBA. Yes you won but nobody cares at this point.
  13. He also said they wouldn’t need to supplement their core with trades and free agency.
  14. No, I know that teams like Boston and GMs like Epstein don’t get taken to school by the likes of Hahn. It was obvious seven years ago that he was in over his head.
  15. That encapsulates the entire Hahn approach to everything. He’s no different than you’re co worker who knows nothing drafting a fantasy team. They just draft based on the list. No insight, no instincts, no eye for talent or eye for red flags. Just pick the next guy on the list. The list said Moncada was the guy, get him even though he looked lost in his call up with Boston. Never a thought that maybe the people who make the projections could be wrong.
  16. I’ve been saying this for a while. I think it was all team propaganda and the fans ate it up. Teams like Boston and GMs like Epstein don’t get taken to the cleaners by the likes of Hahn. Moncada looked lost from the time he arrived. His one good year was an aberration. Kopech was always just a thrower. Jimenez was never going to be more than a DH. The book is still out on Cease and Vaughn. Burger is decent. Robert is a stupid player and a stupid person who can’t even remember his coach’s name. And he’s hurt all the time.
  17. Shortly after losing three of four to the mighty Kansas City Royals.
  18. I didn’t say it’s not possible. I just would take no joy from it. There is only one likable player on the team (Burger) and he will be hurt by season’s end. (Of course it is close to impossible as they will be sellers at the trade deadline.)
  19. How did the fans paying attention make any difference? I notice no Harper, no Machado, no Wheeler on the roster. The Crown Jewels of fans not tuning them out has turned out to be Grandal and Benitendi. ”You’re welcome.” - Jerry Reinsdorf.
  20. I can’t take any joy from that. An unlikable team winning a crappy division. I’ve already tuned them out and that would not interest me.
  21. So you’re saying that Moncada and Jimenez are the equivalent of Trout and Ohtani? Seems to be a massive leap. Also the guys lost aren’t even all stars. Except for Anderson. I think the lost value is in wishful thinking and not in actual production on the field.
  22. But as has been pointed out too many times to count the talking point that they are hurt by injuries is a myth. Statistically they remain one of the healthiest teams. They haven’t lost a starting pitcher until the pile of garbage Clevinger went down. Other teams are on their tenth starters.
  23. It is simple. It happened because they let the kid that drove the car into the ditch drive the tow truck as well. It was an inevitable failure from that point on. There were people here, especially a moderator who has been strangely silent for month, that attacked me, and plenty of others, for not believing in Hahnsight. It could have been avoided. They could have just looked up north and said: 1) new front office, 2) serious manager, 3) serious farm system. Instead they kept the clown show front office, killing the rebuild in the womb. They proceeded to hire the trash thrown out on the North Side, a senile old drunk, and this doofus from Kansas City whose own team had no interest in him. If I sound bitter I am because there were a lot of smarmy smartest guy in the room types around here (and especially at WSI) that attacked anybody waving warning flags. Now they don’t want to sleep in the bed they crapped all over.
  24. I said this back in 2017 and was attacked as being a Cubs fan. Hahn needed a chance they said. No matter that he’s the one who drove the Titanic into the iceberg. They wanted him to man the rescue ships too. What could go wrong?
