People were speculating where they would be if they swept KC. They may lose the series 3-1. Cease and Lynn pounded by the light Royals. This team has zero pitching.

Im not sure they are a .500 team when healthy. The pitching on this team is non existent. Giolito may have figured it out again for a bit before he is traded. Cease seems to be a one year wonder. Clevinger and Lynn are not good and Lynn will be traded. Kopech is not good. The bullpen is a dumpster fire. Will Hendricks be the same after his illness?

I know there’s still two months to go but who could possibly be picked from this putrid team? Giolito? Burger?

At least if there are other enough people humiliated maybe it would create an inside mutiny.

I’m in the Lawrence Holmes camp at this point in regards to his epic rant last September. I want them humiliated at this point. 78-84 isn’t good enough for Hahn and company.

Where will they be if they get swept?

How does this compare with other teams? Middle of the curve or at the far end of it?

I think this was one of the fifty that every team will win. Against a bad team. It was a high scoring game for the Sox. They happen. I didn’t see anything that should change the assessment of the team from the first month of the season. They are at best a third place team in a bad division.

Yes you’re right about Abreu. I question whether adults really need teammates to be “leaders”. But a guy like Anderson can certainly be a cancer. I think you’re closer to being correct than being off base.

You just need to watch the video from last year when they announced Anderson was an all star. Nobody cares. He’s probably a self absorbed jerk in the dugout, based on some other questionable off the field behavior. He’s not a leader as some claim. It’s obvious his teammates are at best neutral on him. The only leader they had is now in Houston. Also, at point you have to start questioning if the talent is there if it never comes to fruition.

But just once it would be nice to sign a real starting pitcher even if you’re overpaying for him on the back end of the contract. I will never forgive him for passing on Clemens and signing Jaime Navarro instead.

I think he means that it’s typical that Jimenez will miss two months to any of a number of injuries in every single year.

He’s made most of his bad luck before this incident.

A better question would be: as bad as this bullpen has been, and as mediocre as Lynn and Giolito have been, what contender would part with their top prospects for pitchers that won’t help them?

It is inherently flawed when the person who put the car in the ditch gets to drive the tow truck.

I don’t see anything there that should strike fear in the hearts of the AL Central. Maybe it was a bad idea to let Abreu go. Imagine how different that list would be if Bryce Harper was on it. (“at least until Eloy gets hurt”, lol)

Imagine being told in 2019 that Tony freaking LaRussa would be the manager in 2022.

There was a guy on these pages that developed a spreadsheet to track the success of the rebuild trades. It was around 2017. I would love to find this spreadsheet and see what happened. It can’t be good.
